“Oh Beautiful for smoggy skies, insecticide grain, for strip-mined mountain's majesty above the asphalt plain. America, America, man sheds his waste on thee, and hides the pines with billboard signs, from sea to oily sea” (Carlin). Climate change is the changes in climate patterns. It has been presented as the overlying reason for planetary destruction. However, the issue with climate change is not the detrimental effects it has on the Earth, mass extinctions have occurred in the past; the problem is that the superfluous exploitation of fossil fuels has compromised the survival of the human race. Climate change has manifested as the result of years of greenhouse gases being released from manufactories, automobiles and residential homes. Despite the endeavor of environmental protection organizations to promote the urgency for ecologically sound solutions, there has yet to be sufficient change in the amount of pollution that has been released into the atmosphere. Unless laws that require corporations, factories and society to limit their abusage of natural resources, diminutive development towards a healthier world will commence. The federal government should mitigate climate change because it will lead to disastrous and irreversible impacts on the world, it will contribute to economic inflation, and it will adversely affect the survival of future generations.
As global temperatures rise, the number of endangered and extinct species accumulates. Natural disasters also become more intense. With the vacillation of temperature and climate patterns, the biorhythms of countless organisms have been disrupted. Some species originating from North America have migrated to northbound areas with higher elevation. “While this means a range o...

Viewing the question of responsibility in this light, it is clear the developed world should take primary responsibility for global climate change, if only because they have the greatest capacity to combat it. Global warming has affected the world and calls for change. Change from the constant degradation inflicted by energy-thirsty humans. Although all of humanity, in its’ masses, should take the blame for the deterioration of the planet, all of
the global climate change crisis, positing that those small individual changes in lifestyle can swell not only into a wave of change worldwide but also reconnect people to their identities as consumers, producers, and citizens. Authors Seth Wynes and Kimberly Nicholas, in their academic article “The Climate Mitigation Gap: Education and Government Recommendations Miss the Most Effective Individual Actions,” agree that such lifestyle changes are crucial but point to more high-impact changes such as having
Pollution and environmental problems of mankind In recent years, we often hear and use the word "ecology", but one can hardly assume that everyone understands him correctly. About even the experts argue what meaning people should invest in this concept. In the meantime, they argue, laymen have realized such ecological minimum: it means - to breathe clean air, drink clean water, eat food without nitrates and glow in the dark. The term "ecology" (from the Greek "oikos" - a house, dwelling place, and
showcase individual resilience, and motivate action against climate change. Lauren Olamina's narrative paints a picture of fear, despair, and loneliness, where hope in humanity fades, and weariness of others floods the community. As the environment deteriorates, outsiders resort to scavenging, robbery, and violence for survival. The dystopian story serves as an obvious warning, urging readers to reflect on the tangible effects of climate change and emphasizing
the first generation to feel the sting of climate change, and we are the last generation that can do something about it.” Because of the known threat that climate change poses to the planet and its inhabitants, our futures greatly depend on how the problem of climate change is addressed in the near future. Like Mr. Inslee says, it is up to our generation to decide the Earth’s future and humanity’s fate. This decision involves either making drastic changes in manufacturing legislation, oil and power
Scientist article explains humanity’s environmental effects by imagining a world in which we never existed and hypothesizing how it would look and function with our absence. Carson’s essay depicts a frightening reality about the current state of humanity and the environment. She warns readers about how we are the only species who possess the capability to disrupt and even destroy Earth’s natural patterns. Diamond articulates his work with an unusual spin, using examples of historical civilizations
describe a future utterly inhospitable to the humans of today, where the focus lies on the main source which allowed these conditions to take place: mankind. These short stories focus on evolution, artificial or natural, and the effect it has on humanity. Both authors utilize similar aspects of literature in order to carry out similar messages which lend themselves to each other’s arguments. Through the use of dialogue guiding the reader’s thoughts and anecdotes of the past, the authors are able
could very well endure a similar fate. With global warming manifesting as a significant calamity Michael Pollan, a journalist and activist, published an article entitled ‘Why Bother’ in the New York Times Magazine directly addressing the ignorant attitude of the human race for disregarding the seriousness of global warming. According to Pollan, the climate-change crisis is essentially a ‘crisis of lifestyle’ and in his article he urges people to make considerable changes to their lifestyles in order
condemned to repeat It." - The Life of Reason Vol.1. Our main challenge is teaching our youth that looking to the future is great but looking into our past is even more important. Climate changes, over use of land and a decrease in resources aren’t anything knew but the way our societies have adapted to react to these changes is what differs. As technology advances so do our approach on handling these existential challenges but with evolution there is always a tradeoff. Those tradeoffs are our choices, we
ecosystems alive. Everything from trees down to the smallest leaf requires it, and it is required for any lifeform to continue to grow. Though as humanity expands and continues on an upward slope, humans as a lifeforce continue to need more. Water is a defining aspect of a community, and with the ever-rising population and human-crafted climate change coming to an all-time high, one of the most important water origins of the southeast region is coming to a very dangerous low. The Colorado River Delta
It was difficult for me, at first, to understand the momentum of Climate Justice. When I started high school, it became clear to me how significant the issue was. I’m from a small island in Indonesia, called Bali, where garbage is carelessly tossed over the shoulders of locals. I never noticed it because it was the environment I lived in, it never seemed odd or out of place. When I moved to America for the first time, I noticed a drastic difference. I moved to a small town in Northern California
More than 97% of scientists assume that environmental change is happening. To get to that level schools across the country need to change how they approach the subject, Climate change is such a staggering test. In some school locales, getting students applicable information is undermined by limitation from people from the gathering or teachers who don't agree with the
balance are variables such as nutrients and that the balance itself is the ocean. If there is too much of one nutrient, the balance tips too far one way, therefore causing the chemistry of the ocean to be thrown off. The chemistry of the ocean is what drives its overall function. If there is too much of one thing or too little of another, the ocean ceases to function properly. One major factor that tips the oceans chemical balance is human activity. The influence of human activity concerning marine
In the poem “Darkness” by Lord Byron, he begins his poem by saying “I had a dream, which was not all a dream” immediately leaving the reader to suspect that the rest of what they were about to read was his interpretation of a true story or event (line 1). The eruption of Mt. Tambora caused Byron to picture the breakdown of mankind and nature in the face of the end of the world and how they discarded their beliefs in the face of the mortality. It was June of 1816, the stormy and cold weather sent
global warming deniers are of older generations and so twenty or thirty years ago technology was not as advanced and global warming was not well-known. This blissful world of ignorance and a better environment is like the cave. They can not truly see what is making the shadows. Then, in the Allegory of the Cave, one man is removed from the group and shown the truth. In the global warming sense, these generations became aware as the world did and as technology advanced. They heard ‘something’ was happening
