Happy, confident, energetic, strong and healthy are all qualities an individual wants. The real question is, how bad do they want it? It is really not as hard as it seems. Gradually changing your life into a well balanced, healthy lifestyle can be done. It may be hard getting rid of old habits, but it is well worth it. Start with little changes and less excuses. Living a healthy lifestyle is not a diet or some ridiculous weight loss challenge. A healthy lifestyle is about moderation, balance and simple substitutions. Many people have trouble understanding what a healthy lifestyle is. They often picture endless hours in the gym and being on a crazy liquid diet. Others may think they can spend an hour doing a hard workout and then go eat whatever they want because “they workout”. Once balance is found a healthy lifestyle becomes easy. Understanding the difference between balance and being strict and obsessive about what you eat and when you work out is key. Some have an extremely hard time learning a balance. If they eat junk food, they feel guilty. If they miss a workout, they feel guilty. The truth is, junk food and rest days are great in moderation. Find a balance will help them feel much happier, healthier and even see more physical results. Getting an ideal physique is simply, 80% diet and 20% exercise. The best thing to do is eat healthy, well portioned meals at least five days a week. Then allow one or two days of eating more relaxed foods in moderation without any guilt. If one has a few cheat meals, or in other words, foods that aren’t very healthy, are not going to make them “fat” or gain weight. Especially if they are also working hard in the gym five to six days a week. ‘“Eating right and exercising regularly is ... ... middle of paper ... ...Corner: Tip of the Week- Rest." Of the 258,000 athletes that wrestle in high school, only 7,408 are able to continue their career as a wrestler in college (NCAA 1). If not done right, the wrestler will only weaken or fatigue themselves before the competition. As the college wrestler rushes to replenish his water, electrolytes, and glycogen after weigh ins, they think by competition they will be hydrated and that their muscles will be fueled again, but it does not work that way. Replenishing body fluids takes 24-48 hours, and muscle glycogen replenishment can can up to 72 hours. Not only does cutting weight have short term effects, but has long term effects as well. ...e completely healthy attempting to avoid my punishment and then there were days where I ultimately caved and failed at eating well. On those days, I followed the rules I set in place and worked out as I said I would that evening. Part of the time my boyfriend would inevitably cause me to falter by cooking a nice fattening meal, but I don’t blame him at all considering it was up to me to make the decision to refrain from eating it. I probably didn’t do as well as I could have around lunch time or dinner but I’m glad at the fact that I did keep away from sweets and snacks throughout the entire week. I was really intrigued with getting good results for this project so I tried my hardest to actually follow the program set. Even if I don’t keep with this change after the project it’s very comforting to know I CAN eat healthy when I want and I CAN workout if I need too.

When I graduated from high school, I was introduced to "fast food." The whole summer all I eat was hamburgers, pizza, and unhealthy sandwiches. I quickly went from 150 pounds to 180 pounds. That was all fat and most of it was around my waist line. I realized if I continued this regimen, I would be obese by the time I'm 21 years. I would also be more susceptible to acquiring diseases such as heart disease and cholesterol problems. I joined a local gym and started researching different working techniques and better eating habits. During this period I met numerous people who had similar goals and where willing to share their experiences with me. It seems like every person I spoke to had a different exercising routine. After a few months of training I developed my own own training routine. This routine worked great for me. I also cut out all the fast food out of my diet and began eating healthy. My initial goal was to get back to my normal weight of 150-160 pounds. I was so into my work out routines, once I reached my normal weight I set a new goal of increase my muscle mass. In order to accomplish my new goal I had change my eating habits and workout strategies. Now that I work out on a regular bases I feel energized and more confident. Working out and eating healthy is the best way for me to stay physically fit.

1.A healthy lifestyle is often seen as someone who can properly succeed in all five requirements on a day to day basis. These requirements include good nutrition, quality sleep, daily exercise, proper stress management and emotional wellness for the mind. However social norms in American culture such as New Years workout resolutions and charitable marathons to save dying children begin to thin as we evolve into adulthood. By that, I mean obtaining a healthy lifestyle now has a numerous amount of obstacles that stop a person from conquering those goals they once set out to strive for. This has a lot to do with fast food intake and the unhealthy balance of those five requirements.

Food is one of the necessities of life in order to survive. Everyone has different views on what to eat and different eating habits. People are so busy in their everyday life that they don’t keep track of what they eat on a daily basis. However, it is important to understand the role of nutrition. Nutrition and exercise are vital to maintain physical health. Proper nutrition is required by our body for energy, growth, maintenance, and repair (Grodner, Roth, & Walkingshw, 2012). Even the brain requires nutrients in order for a person to be intellectually healthy. Along with nutrition, exercise can be controlled by an individual. Exercise helps to strengthen bones and muscles, control weight, improves mental health and mood, reduces risk for cardiovascular disease, type II diabetes, and some cancers, and overall increases the chances of living longer (CDC). For this assignment, I kept a food journal by tracking what I ate and the amount of exercise on a daily basis on a food tracker for three weeks. The purpose of that was to analyze my diet and exercise in more depth in order to determine the amount of vitamins, minerals, fat, protein, carbohydrates, and calories I am eating daily. Based on the results, I made some modifications.
