The career I chose is an Athletic Trainer. “Athletic Trainers are highly qualified, multi skilled healthcare professionals,” (“Athletic Training”). They are also known as a person who is certified in the field of sports medicine. I chose athletic training because it is more than taping ankles and stretching muscles to me. It is my two passions combined into one job. Athletic trainers help people grow on and off the field. I must understand what type of schooling and skills will be required, the income and future of this career, along with the experience and attitude I will need to succeed in this field. She works alone as a trainer there but works along side one team doctor who is at every game, and the other one being a neurosurgeon but is just a parent helping out.

According to Indeed here in Virginia there are 163 athletic trainer jobs looking to be filled ("Athletic Trainer Jobs in Virginia"). The salary range for athletic trainers is a “low $ 34,250, High $ 51,500 and the average is $ 44,720” ("Athletic Trainer Salaries"). There are some outliers though some trainers can be paid several tens of thousands over this figure.
