To Kill a Mockingbird -Respect Respect is something you earn by being a good person or doing something admirable. All of the citizens of Maycomb look up to Atticus and see him as a respectable person. Atticus is the character in the novel that has the most respect. He is a caring, loving father, the only member of Maycomb who will actually defend a negro, and he always displays respect for other people. Atticus is a great leader of his family, teaching his children morals and life lessons. He makes them better people by showing them how to deal with the trial and people making fun of them. Atticus teaches Scout how to respect other people. First, Scout learns to respect Atticus, then to respect "Boo" Radley, and finally to respect a whole race of people, negroes. He makes it a common practice to live his life as he would like his children to live theirs, and thus displays the attributes of an honest, respectable, and kind man. Throughout the trial process, Atticus shows Jem and Scout that true courage is standing up for what you believe in and that all human beings, despite their race, deserve respect. "You never really understand a person until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." This quote shows that Atticus wants his children to get along with people, and so other people will respect them for whom they are. Atticus demonstrates his character by defending Tom Robinson. Atticus leads by example, showing the highest respect for everyone in Maycomb, not discriminating by color or class. His serious defense for Tom Robinson, a black man accused of raping a white woman, proves his high ideals. Atticus fights a hopeless battle against the racism in the town. Atticus not only shows his non prejudice through the trial of Tom Robinson, but also through his everyday dealings with Calpurnia. Atticus refutes Aunt Alexandra persistent attempts to fire Cal and claims that she is one of the family. Atticus also tries to be a perfect southern gentleman. His treatment of Mrs. Dubose proves this characteristic. Even though Mrs. Dubose makes vicious comments and criticisms of Atticus and his children, he still manages to treat her in the kindest manner; complimenting her appearance and helping her into her chair.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee presents the idea that respect is demonstrated by treating people the way people want to be treated so that others can give one that respect back. Social justice requires respect because if one did not have respect for others views and thinking, then people would stop tolerating each other and become selfish in their thoughts and actions. The character of Atticus Finch demonstrates respect by the way he treats those of different gender, how he teaches his children, and how he treats outcasts of a town.
Nanotechnology is defined as the science of design, synthesis and characterization of matter at the nanoscale, which mesures one billionth of the meter [1,2] On that scale, structures exhibit novel chemical, physical and biological properties and processes, which enables the creation of engineered nanomaterials (ENMs), with various characteristics and potential applications. [3] It’s not just that though. Nanotechnology shows the ability to eliminate the gaps among medicine, material engineering and science, computer technology and public policy, creating new clinical and medical approaches to better diagnose, treat and prevent any kind of illness. In fact, it is already moving from simple passive structures
Nanotechnology is the manipulation of structures at nano levels. It uses incredibly small materials, devices, and systems to manipulate matter. These structures are measured in nanometers, or one billionth of a meter, and can be used by themselves or as part of larg...
Atticus Finch was an incredible parent. He did a great job raising Jem and Scout on his own. Atticus not only taught by his example, but also gave his children direct lessons. Atticus wanted to teach his children: all people are equal, what he says is courage, and to never lose sight of goodness in the world. Atticus uses the situations they face to teach these lessons.
.... Nano; the emerging science of nanotechnology: remaking the world – molecule by molecule. Little, Brown and Company. New York, New York. 1995.
Honey I shrunk the technology! It’s not a movie anymore; it’s the direction of global technology. Nanotechnology is this century's equivalent of the Industrial Revolution and it will change everything. The revolution isn’t just around the corner. It has only just begun.
The National Nanotechnology Initiative defines nanotechnology as “science, engineering, and technology conducted at a nanoscale, which is about 1 to 100 nanometers.” In a calculative sense, there are 25,400,000 nanometers in an inch and a sheet of newspaper is about 100,000 nanometers thick. A nanometer is a billionth of a meter, putting that into perspective, if a marble were a nanometer, a meter would be the size of the Earth. Due to the miniscule size of the work of nanotechnology, it can be used throughout all fields of science, including chemistry, biology, physics, materials science and engineering to study and apply microscopic objects and abstractions.
There are many exciting job prospects in this highly profitable field for experts in nanotechnology, therefore it is recommended that the BSc (Nanotechnology) offered at Curtin University be adapted to include two new units. The first will be run in first year in collaboration with the Curtin Business School, and will offer students a chance to learn about the business side of the automotive industry. They will learn how to manage companies, and fit in with large ones, in a business sense. The second unit will be offered in third year, when students have a solid foundation of physics, chemistry and nanotechnology. It will be a unit shared with the appropriate engineering degrees and taught by the engineering staff. The unit will give students a thorough understanding of conventional engines and car production procedures. They will then have a good idea of how to adapt their vast knowledge of nanotechnology to the process. The writer would like to thank Dr Drexler for giving up his precious time to answer our questions and Dr Abbs for providing a good base of support and help.
Atticus is a very complex character in To Kill A Mockingbird. He is a very laded back character, he is very calm. He handles anger very well, and does not let it get to him. Atticus has a lot of characteristics that make him an overall good person. He is for equality, Atticus was willing to take on the Tom Robinson case when no one else wanted to. Atticus is able to know the distinction between good or bad and right or wrong. Teaches his kids about justice, and what to do in sticky situations. Atticus cares about everyone, he is a very kind-hearted soul. He is not racist, he believe that very person should be treated equally no matter what color. Atticus has a lot of wisdom, he knows how to deal with things in the correct. When Jem lost his
The way Atticus treats Jem and Scout is unique; he treats his children like adults. He answers their questions honestly, and he has a stern but fair attitude towards Jem and Scout. He believes in the justice system and doesn’t like criminal law. As stated by Atticus “The one thing that doesn’t abide by majority rule is a person’s conscience.”(55-56) He also realizes that Jem and Scout are children and will make silly mistakes.

The future of nanotechnology would seem to be something out a sci-fi movie but it is the new norm. Nanotechnology is the future for science, research, and technology. It is the thought of working with something so small that would make big changes with great success. This paper will discuss how the future of nanotechnology would work in our society. Nanotechnology will be great with endless achievements that will help the future. The thought of these little particles making great achievements for future advancement have an already unknown background from the past that has help the future to succeed in making nanotechnology a reality and not a myth.
“Nanotechnology is science, engineering, and technology conducted at a nanoscale which is about 1 to 100 nanometers,” according to the National Nanotechnology Initiative. Putting that into perspective, if a marble were a nanometer, a meter would be the size of the Earth. Physicist Richard Feynman introduced the concepts of nanoscience and nanotechnology with his talk titled “There’s Plenty of Room at the
