Technology and techniques in human cloning are advancing every day. The future of human cloning could hold great promise in solving some of society's most troubling issues such as solving infertility, curing fatal and non-fatal diseases; healing, discovering new and easier ways to transplant organs, and much more. With the breakthroughs in science achieved by scientists in the past and present; human cloning could one day be accepted by society. Human cloning could not only help provide a larger range of diversity, but also help to improve the well-being of society in many ways.
The most frequently expressed concern about human cloning is that it’s “unethical”. Society contradicts itself by providing numerous bioethicists with deep religious convictions who have provided great contributions in cloning (Cowen). At one point in time, In Vitro Fertilization was considered unethical, but now many religious groups embrace it (Easterbrook). Many ethicists don’t even oppose cloning. They’re actually more concerned about the genetic engineering that could result. Genetic engineering is when a scientist deliberately tries to manipulate the genes of an organism to enhance its abilities and create a superior species. Some say that these ethical arguments regarding cloning are just a repeat when the Europeans came to the “New World” in the 16th century and started to question their own humanity (Wray).
The development of human cloning was started not too long ago. For example, on July 25, 1978, the first “test-tube baby” was born using in vitro fertilization technology. Church quotes, “When the time comes to deal with an epidemic or getting off the planet, it’s conceivable that their way of thinking could be beneficial.” The only setback to accomplishing this feat is that human cloning must be acceptable (Bethge). All these techniques and methods could further develop the knowledge of what humans actually are.
Human cloning could help society accomplish many of its goals. With it, patients can be treated and cured faster than having to wait for an organ transplant and frequently dying while waiting. Individuals wouldn’t have to see their loved ones die young or in vain. Human cloning could bring more frontiers in science into play than could ever be imagined.

If a random individual were asked twenty years ago if he/she believed that science could clone an animal, most would have given a weird look and responded, “Are you kidding me?” However, that once crazy idea has now become a reality, and with this reality, has come debate after debate about the ethics and morality of cloning. Yet technology has not stopped with just the cloning of animals, but now many scientists are contemplating and are trying to find successful ways to clone human individuals. This idea of human cloning has fueled debate not just in the United States, but also with countries all over the world. I believe that it is not morally and ethically right to clone humans. Even though technology is constantly advancing, it is not reasonable to believe that human cloning is morally and ethically correct, due to the killing of human embryos, the unsafe process of cloning, and the resulting consequences of having deformed clones.
“Cloning represents a very clear, powerful, and immediate example in which we are in danger of turning procreation into manufacture.” (Kass) The concept of cloning continues to evoke debate, raising extensive ethical and moral controversy. As humans delve into the fields of science and technology, cloning, although once considered infeasible, could now become a reality. Genetic cloning has become an issue in these past years, and many questions have arisen due to this scientific breakthrough. As with any new technology, ethical and moral ideals have clashed between those who support it and those who favor the opposing side. In the essay, Cloning Reality: Brave New World by Wesley J. Smith, a skewed view of the effects of cloning is presented. Wesley feels that cloning will end the perception of human life as sacred and ruin the great diversity that exists today. He feels that cloning may in fact, end human society as we know it, and create a horrible place where humans are simply a resource. I disagree with Wesley because I think that the positive effects of controlled human cloning can greatly improve the quality of life for humans today, and that these benefits far outweigh the potential drawbacks that could occur if cloning was misused.
In earlier times the subject of cloning human beings has been no more than just a fantastic idea to play around with in science-fiction books and movies. As time progresses though, more and more fantasies become realities. Such is the case with cloning. This argument seems to be an ethical presentation of the purpose of cloning. However, most, if not all scientists agree that human cloning won?t stop there. While cloning organs may seem ethical, cloning a human is dangerous. Still, scientists argue that the intentions of cloning are ethical. On the other hand, there are many who disagree with those claims. According to those from a religious standpoint, it is playing God, therefore, should be avoided. From a scientific standpoint it is also very dangerous, as scientists are playing with human cells which, if done wrong, can lead to genetic mutations that can either become fatal to the clone, or cause it severe disabilities. This information does, in fact, question the moral of the issue. If cloning is unsafe and harmful, what is the point?

Therapeutic cloning is more related to tissue level cloning to transplant healthy cells and reproductive cloning is individual level cloning. Thus, the term cloning in this essay is used to describe both individual level and tissue level cloning. Public have different views. Some people support it because of its medical value, yet some people argue that it may bring many safety risks and moral problems. Hence, decisions ought to be made to identify the extent of cloning. Therefore, this essay introduces two major benefits of human cloning on disease therapy and analysis two arguments against it on safety and ethical issues.
Last of all, Cloning is not ethical, many religious groups look down upon cloning and think it’s not proper because they think it’s like playing God. Many scientists were mainly thinking about cloning animals and, most likely, humans in the future to harvest their organs and then kill them. “Who would actually like to be harvested and killed for their organs?” “Human cloning exploits human beings for our own self-gratification (Dodson, 2003).” A person paying enough money could get a corrupt scientist to clone anybody they wanted, like movie stars, music stars, athletes, etc (Andrea Castro 2005),” whether it be our desire for new medical treatments or our desire to have children on our own genetic terms (Dodson, 2003).
