Respect is universal, no matter where, what, how or who we are, respect has to be our priority in our daily life. Being respectful with others sometimes is a guarantee of mutual respect. Respect is the action that represents admiration and tolerance to others. I believe we all should respect each other, no matter if we like or don't like the person, we should respect him or her anyways. Definitely, I think we have to respect someone in order to love him or her. Respecting my ex-boyfriend in order to love him made me notice that respect has to be mutual in a relationship because both of the partners have to respect each other. In my relationship I noticed that there was no mutual respect because I was the one who was respecting him, but he did not respect me. Respect is the action to love and be tolerant with one another. On my part I was being tolerant and I admired him as a person, but in my point of view he did not admire me as a person he only admired my outlook. Mutual respect is important in a relationship and in a daily life. As I said before I was very respectful to him. When I was with my friends I gave all my attention to him, in the other hand when he was with his friends he would put me as a second person. After the fight of my clothes style, I remember that in a party he invited me and force me to go with him when I did not wanted to go because I did not know his friends. At the party he ignored me, he did not listened to me and he even left me alone so he can go talk to his friends. This made me upset because he did not respect my decision when I told him that I did not wanted to go and he also disrespected me by letting me alone in his party. I believe that we have to respect someone to like them, but first we have to respect ourselves. I did not respected myself enough. Since I thought that by respecting him he was going to respect me and I was going to receive mutual respect. This experience taught me to treat everyone with the same respect that they treat me, and first respect myself in order to respect others. I also learned that respect has to be earned and that not everyone deserves to be respected as well. However we still have to have some respect for everyone even if we like or do not like the other person. This relationship made an impact on me because it made me realize that not everyone is willing to make an effort to make the other person feel loved. By this relationship I was affected because I generalize what he did to me and this made me selfish and distrustful on my future relationship. It was also challenged because it was hard to me to overcome the toxic relationship with him.
