Mourdoukoutas (2013) claims that “Personal success supports and reinforces professional success which also reinforces personal success. And together, they reinforce life’s most important pursuit — happiness.”(n.p) so, happiness brings success, and success brings even more happiness. (link) Many always dream of achieving success, but don't know the first step to get there. To define the actions of successful people we have to determine the meaning of success. In the first place, Success is about setting goals and achieving them. But by referring to dictionary it defines success as “the satisfactory accomplishment of a goal sought for.” To be successful, you must achieve the goal and be satisfied with the outcome. Success has elements linked to it from hard work, determination and perseverance. …show more content…
In other words, luck isn't just about being at the right place at the right time, but also about being open to and ready for new opportunities. Moreover, when an opportunity presents itself, you can either consider yourself lucky enough to catch it, or feel it happened because you've been working hard towards the moment. Either way, once you have an opportunity, you now have to work hard to turn the opportunity into a …show more content…
They are skilled at creating and noticing chance opportunities, make lucky decisions by listening to their intuition, create self-fulfilling prophecies via positive expectations, and adopt a resilient attitude that transforms bad luck into good. For unsuccessful people they are less an endeavor. Unsuccessful people miss chance opportunities because they are too focused on looking for something else. If they continue to rely on luck, they will never get what they want in
Many people say that their luck has brought them to where they are right now, but is that REALLY the case? Probably not. To be honest, they’re probably trying to be humble. Although luck takes a big part in success
Luck is an important role in a person’s success. Home life, financial situation, location, and other elements are all a part of someone’s luck. If a person originates from a supportive, wealthy family, chances are that the person will grow up to become very successful. On the other hand, someone born into a careless, destitute family, will most likely struggle to find the path to success. In
Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose (Macmillan), Ben Carson was successful, but how? It would seem prosperity just requires academic success, and a good career choice, but in reality being triumphant requires certain attributes. Talent, Time, Hope, Honesty, Insight,to be Nice, Knowledge, In-Depth-Learning, and God are all of the aspects Dr. Carson thinks we need in order to be successful. . Not only are these traits essential for success, they can build your character as well. Although all of these traits are crucial, but a few of them are of more significance than the rest. One example is Time, Time is an indefinite during which events, conditions, and actions occur and exist, or continue with uninterrupted succession (Macmillan).
For example, Bill Gates, the world’s richest man, earned a scholarship to Harvard University, and took his time and spent it all on the school's computer and he knew he had potential. So he dropped out of college his sophomore year, and started a company: Microsoft. This man is what is known a as a pure risk taker. Gladwell states, “Bill gates got to do-real-time programming as an eighth grader” (12). He then evolved his company and he launched it on April 4th, 1975. He knows how to sell his products to needing customers. He interprets how to communicate with customers to attract them to his product that he wants to sell. He excelled at monopolizing his company. In all, he went way beyond just ten years. He knew that in all these events that led to his goal, he was exceedingly lucky. This does not mean he wasn't a brilliant man or that he just relied on luck. He just had excellent communication skills and knows how to sell and induce customers to buy his product, and this led him to achieve a great
Success can be an extremely broad subject. There is an abounding amount of different views on what the “true” definition of success is. Personally, I believe that success is finding happiness. Success is waking up in the morning and not having to worry about whether or not the bills are going to be paid this month. Success is having a job that you enjoy going to every day. Success is having friends and family who love and support you. Success does not mean that one has to be exceedingly rich or have a lakeside mansion. As long as they are happy, they have succeeded in life.
Since the very beginning of time, man has tried to achieve success. Success, as defined by https://www.google.com, is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.” This definition of success is very objective, but there are flaws to it. A person that values happiness will not be successful to themselves if they gain a lot of money but they aren't happy. Success is within the mind of the individual. A large portion of one's life is spent working to become successful. People are told throughout their childhood to work hard so they can grow up and make lots of money. But success takes many different forms. Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them. For some, success is measured by social status and wealth; for
Think of how the world would react if you couldn’t make choices and people only had luck. The outcome of your level of success is not depicted by chance, it is shown by the choices you make in certain situations. For example, in the story “The Rights to the Street of Memphis” Richard made the choice to fight for himself. He was in a situation that he had to either choose to prove to his mother that he would survive in the real world or be useless to his family like his father was. Even though some may think that the characters have bad luck that put them in situations, the characters developed by their choices because, Richard wanted to stay under his mother’s wing instead of being defeated, Ulrich and George decided to wait until the last second to
Often, success is rooted in factors beyond an individual’s knowledge or control. These exterior forces may vary greatly in all aspects except one: the successful individual has no power over them. Society likes to paint famed success as the result of years of arduous work in which an individual seizes every opportunity and eventually sees all of his struggles pay off as his goals are achieved. Sure, success would have been a distant dream if not for the seizure of opportunities and all that hard work, “but in fact [people who stand before kings] are invariably the beneficiaries of hidden advantages and extraordinary opportunities and cultural legacies that allow them to learn and work hard and make sense of the world in ways others cannot” (Gladwell 19). Take, for example, the story of a successful career man who made his living for 39 years thanks to a conversation behind closed doors of which he was not aware until he inquired about it years later. Greg Counts spent all but the first few years of his career in transportation and logistics because of a job he took in the first few years of his life after college. The
Throughout The Rocking-Horse Winner, there is a mention of luck. Luck among a person could be both good and bad. Whether you were born with it or not, it should never bring you down. In the text The Rocking-Horse Winner by Lawrence, the mother states, “it’s because your father has no luck.” (Prentice Hall Literature [page 148]). Unfortunately in my situation, I beg an intriguing observation among someone having no luck. Luck is simply not something you are born with, but it should be looked at as if something you must earn. If related to respect, luck can simply be many things among human values; however, no one is gifted with this whether you are lucky or unlucky. With that said, this was something that pondered my thoughts, but as I continued to read there was more and more that just didn’t quite seem right.
Is success a stroke of luck? Are successful people born to be successful? It makes us wonder when harsh condition, circumstances or environment create factors for a person to success. Sometimes failure can be productive, it can be the push we need to move forward in life. The person I want to talk about is a hero who gave a large impact and changed the way we live. He also contributed to the society by his inventions. His name is Steve Jobs and he is the person I want to call a hero. Jobs’ large legacy resulted from a few outstanding strengths that many called it genius and he knew how to deal with problems in smart way.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. Is successful people are also the happiest? To answer this question, we must define the words success and happiest. The concept of happiness and success seems similar at an initial glance, even so, the two represent diverse aspects of examining the society. Happiness is more of a feeling while success is not. Someone does not need progress to be happy since many structures pay to the comprehension of the circumstance. On top of that, the surroundings are diverse depending on the individual, on the other hand, success is not a feeling but a judgment of its form. Deciding on the level of success one reaches is a way of estimating an individual and arriving at a conclusion whether they assess up to a standard. So, it is fundamental to notice the
To begin with, hard work is the key of success because luck is temporary; in other words, does not exist and help people all the time. Firstly, nobody can state an exact time about luck’s occurrence; hence, there is not any certain time that luck rescues people. For instance, friends are chosen by considering if they can always help and stand by under vexing circumstances. Assuming that luck is a friend candidate, it can neither be reliable nor pass the friendship test because luck does not show up every time as chance is only an evanescent factor for success. Moreover, relying on luck would be wrong decision in order to succeed because besides being lack of infinite help, luck is also a trickster. Once people gravitate in fortune due to a useful assistance, it becomes impossible to evade expecting luck for another satisfactory aid. However, luck does not appear again for another; thus, exposes its supporters to a gross vortex and remorse. In...
Success, is a term with relative meaning depending on what aspect of life it is associated with. I view success in terms of achievements, fulfillment, and accomplishments. I set goals, and I do what it takes to make them happen, by dedicating my time, intelligence, skills to achieve them. I make sure that at the end of the day I can be proud of my work, knowing that I invested myself a hundred percent. Goals are a very important aspect of life, they are like maps that guides you, because if you do not know where you are going, how would you know when you get there. All aspects of my life are intertwine, and accomplishing something in my personal life have repercussion on how I feel in my professional life, and vice versa. I do not measure success on the size of my bank account, the size of my house, or what kind of car I drive, but instead I assess how happy and filled my life is. Filled with family, friends, love, happiness, and that is what I use to determines how successful I feel.
Some people accredit their success to fate, while others accredit it to their own achievements. I personally believe, good happens to people who work persistently for what they hunger. Being a successful entrepreneur is about sacrifice and hard-work. I assume I hold the qualities of a hard-worker. Scoring a twelve for action orientated was a shock. I find myself to be amply action orientated. I know whatever I require done, will not be completed unless I do it. I demand action in everyday challenges I am faced with. One structural characteristic of being an entrepreneur is being action-oriented. Willingness to utilize action and persistence are common traits of entrepreneurs.
