It is not easy to always be a good person, even if you want to be. I think the important thing is to recognize that there is always an ethical issue. There is always an ethical dimension to any decision that we make. Personal values, morals and ethics can influence decision making. Not everyone has ethical standard. A person’s ethics choice have a lot to do with how they are raised. What they believe is right or wrong and their own personal values. When coming up with process for ethical decision making, you mentioned to me that I might have a thinking of a relativist, especially when I stated that there should be an emphasis on personal ethics. People from different cultural backgrounds are likely to have different values, and this will lead to different ethical decision making across the world. For example, my spiritual and religious beliefs are the foundation for what I think it’s ethical, and yes, someone else’s ethical behavior might be based on laws and or their own personal understanding of what is the right thing to do, when it comes to making a decision. Generally, there are some behaviors that we all can agree on as whether Zokari 2 it’s an ethical or unethical behavior. Things like stealing from someone or murdering someone, most of us would agree that that’s wrong. Now, I believe that an individual views should be respected. For example, drinking alcohol, gambling is moral in the United States, but it’s immoral in the Middle Eastern Islamic Countries. Although, and this is where I part ways with relativism, some individual views conflict with the greater good. An action of terrorism, in my opinion is immoral, even though, people claim it’s what they belief or they feel obligated in doing so. Which is roughly speaking trying to make to maximize overall utility in general and it’s not prioritizing any one person’s utility over another person’s utility. I do think that a person should be conservative when taking an action and thinking about its consequences.
