This semester has taught me a lot of new things, to use as a writer, that I either was not very good at, or did not know before the semester began. One of the things that this semester has taught me was synthesis. This was the first time that I believe I have used synthesis. At least aware that I was using synthesis. I was not very good at it at first. I was confused by it, and I thought that it was stupid to use. However, as the semester went on, the better I got at it and the more I understood how much more effective this was, when developing your argument. I do look forward the rest of my college career, and into my actual career, whether that is on the civilian side or military side. With that in mind I know that I will have to write other papers, for other classes or my future career. I have a set of goals that I plan on pursing. Some of these goals include continuing to improve synthesis. The reason I plan on continuing to improve synthesis, is because I believe that this is a very great tool when it comes comparing and contrasting multiple sources. I believe that this is a great tool to continue to pursue, is because being a science major, I will have to look at other people’s work for experiments I will have to do. This will be very beneficial because it will allow me to look at what has been done, or needs more attention, when trying to come up with hypothesis to experiment on. Another goal I have for the future is to continue to better my grammar. Once I graduate I will become a 2LT in the U.S. Army, and being an officer in the army I will have to write a lot. Whether that is writing a order, a counseling, or a mission brief, I will have to write. Meaning, that my grammar has to be good, in order for not only my soldiers, but my superiors to take me serious. However, the army writing style is much different than other writing, it is direct and to the point. With that in mind, my grammar will have to be on point so there is no confusion between my future soldiers and what I want to get across.
