Thesis: In the book Of Mice And men Power is the main factor of how you live your life and what they have permission to do. English 10 E Ms.Silvers Have you ever had power? Did you feel like you could tell people what to do and when/how to do it? In the book Of Mice And Men power is a main factor of how they live and what they have the ability/permission to do what they want. Some characters in the book are George,Slim and Curley. Some characters have more power than others and you will learn this next. First george is the first person to talk about and the power he has over Lennie. Second we will talk about the respect and power Slim has. Slim is one of the mostpowerful people in this book. Everybody listens to him and he is kind of like a boss. Even Curley (Slims boss) listens to him at some points. Slims co-workers also look up to him and follow him. He is the person everybody likes and has power at the same time. The third character with power is Curley. Curley is a character people do not necessarily like and they only listen to him is because of the power he has. Curlys dad is the boss and he runs everything. Curley could easily lie to his dad to get anyone he wants fired and he does not like people very easily. One more way he does not have power over is his wife. Curley's wife is always running away talking to the other workers and Curley can not seems to handle her and know where she sneaks off to. Curley has power over almost everyone but his wife. POWER: The capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events. In the book Of Mice And Men Power is one of the most important factors that the character either has or does not have dependent on how they act.
