“Inspiring to Make Your Community a Better Place” I strive to try to inspire the fellow members of my community. Granted, I am only a high school senior, but that does not mean that I cannot make a difference. Even the smallest of actions has the potential to change the world. I believe that I inspire my community by leading by example, volunteering my time, and creating a sense of astonishment with my unique talent. The most powerful way that I can inspire others is to lead by example. Often times, I think of the people that inspired me to become the man I am today. There is no better feeling in the world than that which comes from helping others. During the course of my elementary school life, I was a member of the Cub Scouts. My friends and I learned to work together in order to accomplish tasks no one of us could do alone. We also learned that those with the ability to provide assistance also have the responsibility to do so. I eventually grew out of Cub Scouts, but I found other ways to volunteer my time. I volunteered at many different United Way events over the next few years, as well as seasonal events such as Treat Street and the Christmas Stroll. During my junior year, I was induced into the National Honors Society. I enjoyed volunteering with this organization because it not only reminded me of my youth, but also because I was once again able to work with my peers to make a difference in our community. I loved it so much that I decided to run for President the next year. As soon as I was old enough, I took the job of working at the Chamber of Commerce. I love my job so much because it allows me to interact with those coming into my community. The very first time that someone drives into Butte Montana, they stop into the visitor center to see me. I get to show people how wonderful my town is, and make its history come alive. I do my best to assist any person that needs me, be it friend of stranger. When I perform for children, they think that I am a wizard. However, all grownups have long since come to terms with the fact that there is no such thing as magic. They know that I am no wizard, yet they are impressed by my skill. Adults know that what they are seeing is an illusion, but they want to believe that it is real. They want to remember what it felt like to have hope, to believe that the impossible was actually possible. So, when I show them something their brains cannot comprehend, you can actually see this light in their eyes. You can actually feel them believe again.
