As colleges and universities diminish their reliance on LSAT and GPA numbers in the selection of students to admit, narrative submissions become more significant. The personal statement is the primary way you can make sure the people on the admissions committee are familiar with who you are -- not merely what you have accomplished. Remember that it is an essay you are preparing that should be interesting and revealing about you.
My decision to become a doctor did not come in a moment of blinding revelation, but as
The Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT) is the statewide test that measures the academic achievement of public school students towards meeting the Sunshine State Standards benchmarks. The quarterly Reading and Mathematics Benchmark Assessment exams gauge student achievement on individual strands based on these Sunshine State Standards, which school districts require schools to administer to students within the appropriate content area. Teachers and administrators pour over the information at the conclusion of the exam and the data mining gets underway. The data is analyzed and scrutinized and teachers present their interpretation of the data to the administration to determine what modifications need to take place within their classrooms. The teachers, principal and school district utilize the data obtained from the Benchmark Assessments to determine the level of student achievement within the classroom and create a strategy that will target those benchmarks in which student performance was low. The vital issue with the data driven classroom is the effectiveness of the teachers and administrators at interpreting the data from these high stakes tests and constructing a successful plan that guides instruction based on the needs of the classroom, which continuously change.
The choices we make early in life have an enormous impact on our future. I have always known that I wanted to directly impact people’s lives. My personal experiences have had a large impact on my motivation to accomplish all my dreams. In the future, I would love to influence another generation of students to soar for their dreams.
For some students a report card is an accurate reflection of their abilities, aspirations, and future work habits. Many friends of mine have flawless, or near flawless, report cards. Straight A's and weighted GPA's well over 4.0 grace their every progress report, and I am certain they will continue this streak of academic excellence well into the future. For others, C's, D's and fail's are a normal occurrence, and much like the straight A students, I have no doubt that they will continue down this path. But for some students, like myself, a report card is not an accurate picture of academic ability. I am not afraid to admit - to friends, family, or schools I intend to apply to - that my grades aren't good. I haven't had a GPA anywhere near 4.0 in at least 3 years, and at times this fact makes me proud. While I usually earn B's or C's in my classes, there are a few bright spots on my academic record. I am in the 98th percentile of the SAT test, and in the 99th on the ACT. I achieved a 5 on the AP Computer Science test, and despite a C in my AP Physics class, I managed a 4 on the final exam. On top of that, in my two years on El Camino Real High School's Academic Decathlon team I have been the highest scoring C Student in all of the Los Angeles Unified School District twice in a row, placed third in the state of California, and look forward to a promising season this year.
From an early age I have always had a strong interest in art, and have been involved with it in some form all through my life. In year nine I realized that it was something that I might like to pursue as a career, I started taking it more seriously. The Chase's art department encouraged me very well and helped me develop my art skills.
Please discuss the following items in the order given. Briefly respond to all areas listed.
Since a small child, I have been surrounded by art. My father is currently a high school art teacher, and has taught me many artistic abilities. I am fascinated by watercolor arts, hyper-realism art, and the ideas and sketches of Leonardo Da Vinci. Mainly, I express my art through a simple pencil and paper. As it may seem simple, I am fully capable with multiple shading techniques and can draw still life scenes, along with accurate human anatomy. Although I prefer pencil and paper, I am completely open to new ways to further myself in the art world. However, I am not a stranger towards sculpting or oil pastels. In past years, I have submitted art pieces into two competitions, one being college level. And I am looking forward to finding more

A good curator has the potential to shape a person’s approach to art and culture. In 2011, Andrew Bolton’s stunning presentation of fashion as art, in ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty’ opened my eyes to the work of a designer that would become the backbone to the majority of my undergraduate study. Aged 18, I traveled to New York where I visited the exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Four years later, when ‘Savage Beauty’ was showing once again - this time at the V&A, curated by Claire Wilcox - I wrote my dissertation on the complex relationship between art and fashion through a detailed analysis of the exhibition which gave me my biggest passion.
I’m sure every girl has played in their own or mothers make-up before at least once in their life. Or you may have even been to a MAC store or seen make-up tutorials online. Think of your clients as if they were your canvas. Depending on the type of MUA you are, you could even create imaginative characters and special effects for theaters and films. Skilled MUA’S play the game with no rules. Make-up artists must have an imagination. Some of the most popular and best of them around are Bobbi Brown, Keyvin Aucoin and Ve Neill. Make-up artists have a fun job; they must be very creative to come up with new looks that fit every client.
Art and design are huge aspects of life today, and it influences everyone. Whether we realize it or not, there are signs all around us of trained professionals from art-related industries (Hennessey). Art and design careers can take forms that many people may not have thought about: people with art and design degrees find work in nearly every industry imaginable, in roles that didn’t even exist ten or fifteen years ago (“Art and Design Careers”). Industries and related careers are constantly expanding, providing art and design students with new opportunities. Possibilities for art and design careers are nearly infinite, and and they’re always growing.
Graphic design is my destination. I want to discover the visual aspects and aesthetic properties of objects, and observe how they could be expressed through different colours, shapes, lines and tones. Design is the conscious exploring of potential futures; it indicates the purpose of a product. As I strongly believe there is no final destination in graphic design, the path is continuous and I will always see and discover new ideas. The excitement and inspiration by the things I see keep me motivated. In BTEC art lessons I have developed my drawing skills to a high level. I am adept at printmaking and have used various techniques such as linocut, woodcut, collagraph and mono print. I have also learnt how to make my own paper upon which I printed and embedded my designs. These skills have increased my desire to study Graphic Design, as printmaking is part of the graphic design course. For the sculpture unit I used an armature and mixed media to create figures in the style of Giacometti for which I achieved a Distinction for it in my BTEC Diploma. By using Photoshop I have gained the sk...
