There are several experiences I’ve been through during my life, but witnessing my 13-year-old cousin suffer from a gunshot wound is one that is unbearable. Some people may say everything happens for a reason but, after four years of this nightmare, I’m still clueless on why my little cousin is no longer here with me. Every since the day he passed, my life hasn’t been the same. I was told at one point that I was wilding out, but that wouldn’t bring my cousin back. My feelings are conflicted because, it’s pretty obvious that being calm won’t bring him back either. My name is Alphonso Bell, and I had a younger cousin who, was killed and his name was Lamonee Johnson a.k.a “Monee” for short. November 18, 2012, started off as a nice morning like others we had. Where I’m from gun shots are fired off all the time, so when I heard it I continued to play and showed little attention to them. After 15 minutes I noticed Monee and Jr still had not returned so, I decided to walk up to the store to see what was taking them so long. As I was approaching the store, I saw Jr walking towards me holding his left shoulder, “What happened?” I asked. He told me that a guy came from behind the store and started to let shots off, but before now he had no idea what for. I didn’t really believe him for some reason but, I had never mentioned it. “So where is Monee” I asked. He pointed at the store, I quickly ran over there and saw my little cousin laying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his back. I watched the ambulance take him away as his life was slowly fading away. Since that time, the experience made me realize that, life is not a video game and once you’re gone, there is no coming back. However, who said that a nice morning couldn’t end up, being your worst memorable
