English The story of Prometheus and pandora began when Prometheus, the god of war, was assigned with the task of creating mankind. Prometheus had assigned Epimetheus ( his brother) the task of giving the creatures of the earth their various qualities, such as swiftness, cunning, strength, fur, and wings. Unfortunately, by the time he got to man Epimetheus had given all the good qualities out and there were none left for man. So Prometheus decided to make mankind stand upright as the gods did and to give them fire. Zeus was furious at Prometheus as a result of not asking him first. Zeus chained Prometheus up to the tallest mountain. Zeus then came up with a plan to create a woman to come to life and she was named Pandora. Pandora was sent as a gift to Epimetheus so he could marry her. With her came a gold box with a key. Pandora was told not to open it under any circumstance. Her curiosity grew stronger and stronger every day. After a few weeks of having the box in the back of her mind, she decided to open the box. Pandora saw evil waft out of the box. I think this sculpture of pandora has been made to depict her after her creation by Prometheus, soon after she is given the box from him. because it is a marble sculpture it is difficult to tell whether or not she has opened the box or not but I think she hasn't opened it yet the way in which she is holding it indicates to me that she knows it is precise and must be kept closed-and she is holding it with both hands, one underneath and one on top, to keep the lid shut. I imagine she is looking in defiance to the gods maybe contemplating whether to open the box or not. she is defiantly sculptured by the artist to highlight her ravishing beauty, a quality given to her by Aphrodite she wears a necklace around her neck and her hair is tied up, under tiara or something
Based on the readings, I conclude that Hesiod has intended his audience to regard elpis as a curse rather than a blessing. First of all, when Zeus is over taken by his anger with Prometheus after Prometheus makes an ill hearted attempt to fool Zeus at Mykone in regards to which food to choose. After Zeus discovered this trickery, he and the other gods put ingredients together to create a woman called Pandora. Pandora is a ‘gift’ to Epimetheus. The poem writes “Prometheus had said to him, bidding him never take a gift of Olympian Zeus, but to send it back for fear it might prove to be something harmful to men,” (Hesiod, Works and Days, 85-90).
Prometheus takes the human side in the negotiation because he sympathizes with their ongoing struggle for survival and also intends to make the world a better place. Prometheus realized that it was his duty to aid the humans when he “found them living in caves, and in holes of the Earth, shivering with cold because there was no fire…” (Baldwin et al. 1). Prometheus empathizes with the humans’ struggle for survival as they do not have fire or any of the techniques needed to survive. From the front view, the sculpture seems like a growing tree. The color is dark brown and the whole body is mainly in the same tone. In Hesiod’s version, Zeus created Pandora as a punishment to man and illustrated her as an evil, deceitful and supposed curse on mankind, “Evil conspirators. And he added another evil to offset the good...she was a real pain for human beings” (Hesiod, 149-164) On the contrary women in Ovid’s tale were treated as companions who worked together for the greater good, as depicted by the myth of Pyrrha and Deucalion, “Then, side by side, they went without delay to seek the waters of Cephisus’ stream.” (Ovid, 17) Deucalion and Pyrrha are portrayed to be righteous and true devotes of the Olympian gods and hence given the responsibility of repopulating earth. On the far left is St. Peter who has just cut off the ear of Malchus (the servant of the high priest and seated in front of St. Peter) is "sheathing" his sword. Hesiod tells the story of how the curse of Pandora came to be in his writing. In his two works Hesiod, Works and Days and Hesiod, Theogony that contain the story of Pandora are both writing in a slightly different perspective. However, at the end both have the same meaning to them. That Zeus created women as a punishment for men. In developing this meaning in both poems Hesiod uses a few different things in each story as oppose to telling the same story for both. Hesiod, Works and Days and Hesiod Theogony have the same meaning and most of the same plot but different in some aspects.
Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound portrays a greek god detained by a superior for disobedience against the latter’s rule. On the other hand in Euripides’ Hippolytus portrays lust and vengeance of the gods and the extent that they can go to to avenge it.
This statue of Aphrodite shows the dedication the Greeks had to their gods. The bronze goddess, holding her right arm in the air, gives off a powerful attitude. As the pose itself of the statue is not bland and more active, it gives the impression that this was created during the classical period of Greece when sculpture began having more relaxed, natural poses. The lack of more painstaking muscle and bone structure probably places it in the earlier part of the classical period though. What is most intriguing about the sculpture is the white eyes she is given that, in the face of a more natural, realistic human form, the eyes seem to retain an essence that reminds the viewer that this statue is of a goddess and no ordinary human being.
The eyes are round and wide open, there is an upward gaze, an open mouth, and small nostrils. This just shows us how different sculptors’ techniques were during the same period of time. Many sculptors used many different techniques during the classical period in Greece. Praxiteles, the great one, the “inventor” of nude sculptures, created an astonishing and fascinating sculpture of Hermes carrying the infant Dionysos. And only after seeing this work of art in person, and analyzing it, have I realized it’s truly a great work of art.

Prometheus is a figure that is given qualities and moral principles that make him a heroic figure. First, his appearance is impressive in size, power, extent, and effect. Prometheus is depicted as a supreme figure to make him an asset to anyone who needs his help. In “Prometheus Bound”, Prometheus uses his great strength and size to provide mortal men with fire; a heroic effort by definition. He is also given great features that emphasize his self-sacrificing beliefs. Prometheus accepted his fate, a punishment that extracted all of his divine traits, because of his devotion to the termination of dictatorship. Prometheus was willing to be bound and preyed upon by an eagle for his noble beliefs. Prometheus’s speeches also contribute to his presence as a hero. He provides extensive and effective speech that makes him the central figure for adoration. Prometheus tells the chorus of his existence as a “knight in shining armor”, which further defines his function as a hero...
Prometheus' birth has two sides of stories behind the myth. Most people, in that time period, weren't sure who Prometheus' mother was. His father, on the other hand, was Iapetus, one of the Titans. One of Prometheus' mothers in the stories was Clymene, one of the Oceanids, and the other version has it that Asia, also one of the Oceanids, was Iapetus' spouse (Parada 4). Whatever the case was, Epimetheus was Prometheus' brother. Later in life, Prometheus would tell Epimetheus not to accept any gift from Zeus because of the vision he would get from his ability to before-hand tell the future. This Epimetheus would later ignore when he would marry Zeus' creation, Pandora (Parada 3).
Zeus then decided it is time to punish Prometheus because the suffering of men was not enough and Prometheus had to be taught a lesson. Zeus sent his allies Strength and Force to capture and contain Prometheus where they chained him to the highest peak of the Caucasus mountains, I don’t really know what significance these mountains had or why Zeus would decide that is the place to contain Prometheus as he was a titan and titans were known to be very large and giant like, But when Zeus again pitted Vulcan against his friend Prometheus, Vulcan chained him down so he couldn’t move not even a hand or foot. I think that still Prometheus would have forgiven his friend because he knew that Zeus being the tyrant he was being was once again forcing him to do it. I think his torture on the side of the mountain would have been one of the worst things in Greek myth, he hung there as an eagle tore him apart day after day tearing his body apart and eating his liver, he would regenerate every day and the liver grew back just to have it torn out again the next day. This is brutal and all through this he never said he was sorry never cried out for mercy he stood by his beliefs that what he did was the right thing and so he just hung there for years. I think one of the best details of this story is that Prometheus knew something that Zeus wanted to know about a prophecy that the goddess Thetis would
