Culture is a set of collective and enduring meaning, beliefs and values that portray national, cultural or other groups and learn about their behavior (Mulholland, 1991). Culture is the way to express views and experiences. It is the central part of every society and country. Culture covers all aspects of life and the world around us. Usually culture is shaped by the historical, political, social and traditional contexts. Culture can be defined as the mutual programming of the mind which differentiates the members of one group of people from those of another group of people. Material culture consists of tangible things that have been shaped to some extent by man. Such things are often called artifacts or culture object such as tools. Household items, apparatus, weapon, etc. Non material culture on the other hand, consists of intangible part of culture, such as values, ideas, customs, traditions, religious beliefs and ethics, etc. Every society has its own particular culture which becomes the identity of any individual and nation. Among all the songs wedding songs are the most popular and interesting ones. There are different songs for each rituals of wedding. Particular songs for Mehndi, Barat, rukhsati, magni are sung by the relatives of the bride and grooms for them. Some songs are sung by the bride's sisters, some of the friends, brother, mother or from father, particularly some for the groom like “DESAN DA RAJA, DHIYA RANIYA KINA JAMIYA KINA LA JANIYA, SADA CHIRIAN DA CHAMBA VE”, Except romantic songs there are a variety of the song’s lyrics show the love, care, protection and sometimes teasing the groom by brides side or bride by the groom’s side. Traditional status and treatment of gender is also reflected in these practices. Even in the face of modernization centuries old customs are still being practiced. Especially the Punjabi culture has the richness of its culture, particularly in their traditions, customs and literature most importantly in wedding traditional songs.
