Gender Based Wages

Has anybody really thought about how people in this world are treated based on certain stereotypes? Since the beginning of time women have been struggling for their own personal equality. After reading “The gap between male and female pay”, by Caitlyn Peterkin, I was surprised to see that even with equal educations, Women earn substantially less than men annually. I think the main intention is to inform people on just the statistics and does not effectively persuade the reader to believe in what she is saying. I do not think that is fair because women are just as intelligent and have an equal amount of work ethic. Why would they be paid less? I think that people can notice that women’s equality has gone up a large amount but it is still nowhere near where it should be. I wonder how people would react if it was the men who were getting paid less. Some people think that men are superior and I don’t understand why. Why is it that there are better job opportunities in life for men than for women? I would be a lot easier of people simply acknowledged the issue. All you have to do is speak up to get somewhere in life. The pay for women who do the same amount of work annually as men is thousands of dollars less. This is an issue that I feel strongly about because I have a lot of women in my family that I believe should be given the same respect and appreciation for their hard work. I think it is because men see that women have changed over the years. They see that women do just as much work as they do. But they do not believe that they should get equal pay. The initial argument is that women are needed in this world just as much as men are which is very true. Like in the article “The Gender Pay Gap Industry” by Catherine Rampell, it sh... ... middle of paper ... ...ingle moms out there that cannot pay some of their bills but the men can. That is absolutely embarrassing. They do not get the same and equal opportunities in life that they deserve just like the men. But the men are not the only problem. Some women have helped society by letting the stereo-type take over them. The worst thing that could happen is that they give up and give in to what some people believe instead of what they personally believe. I do not think the world will ever change, especially in other parts of the world like Europe and Asia. Those are countries with different culture that put woman at the bottom. They believe that a woman should just stay home all day and take care of the kids. The problem with that is that women do not get their freedom of spending their own hard earned money. That is just absolutely not right to treat other people like that.
