Henry Wadsworth Longfellow is not dead. Certainly, he comes alive in every one of his pieces. Longfellow was never just an average person. He appreciated the arts ever since a young age and continued to attract towards them. He definitely led most other writers in the Romanticism Era. His pieces were considered the best of that time. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, born in 1807, is one of the most renowned authors of the Romanticism Era, with one of his most famous works being “A Psalm of Life” which is still treasured by the American society.
On February 27, 1807, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was born in Portland, Maine to Zilpah Wadsworth and Stephen Longfellow, an excellent lawyer and Congressman. Longfellow’s grandfather was General Wadsworth and he was named after his uncle on his mother’s side, Henry Wadsworth, who died while serving in the Navy. He was the second child born to a family with only one other boy, but that would soon change as he has a total of three brothers and four sisters. After Longfellow was only 7 months old, his mother wrote about his “fondness for singing and dancing” (Beebe). As a young boy, the poet loved to read and listen to stories told by the foreign sailors. Hearing the many different languages as a child must have, later on, inspired him to study foreign languages. Also, having such scholarly parents who encouraged reading at a very young age helped Longfellow discover his passion for writing. Though H.W. Longfellow enjoyed “normal boy activities”, he rather preferred reading under a tree, enjoying nature; which, presumably, is because his mother appreciated nature to a great extent.

... Longfellow was a novelist and a poet like many others in his literary era. He wrote about nature, morals, and general parts of life. It was clear that the events of that period influenced his writing.Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was an esteemed author who fit into his literary era very well and inspired many other poets of the time.
Works by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow will continue to be cherished as they have been for the last 200 years and he will ceaselessly be recognized as a frontman for the Romanticism Era. Longfellow experienced many joyous and tragic moments throughout his life and they made him a more emotionally-accessible author. The Romanticism Era definitely would not have been as great without him. Critics can disagree with the fact that Longfellow was very well-liked worldwide. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow will never stop being considered an inspiration.
