Some teenagers or children of the twenty-first century live their lives by the saying "you only live once" in the hope their lives will become exciting. They arrogantly ignore age limits that were created to protect them from the impacts of living by this widely misunderstood expression. This attitude towards age limits is stupid and irresponsible; only life threatening consequences will come from their arrogance. Everyone should take responsibility to guard the childhood of many from the negative impacts of age-restricted material by taking age limits seriously.
By taking age limits seriously, we can prevent a negative consequence known as addiction. Age limits exist to prevent immature children from being exposed to addictive substances such as drugs and alcohol, or games that easily hook a weak mind. Addiction can successfully mislead a child's life because in some cases the immature mind is unable to differentiate between right and wrong as the drive to take part in an activity or vice is too powerful. An example of this would be how some youth gamers develop a strong desire to play a restricted game because they enjoy exposure to new alien themes a game portrays. Constant exposure to violence or sexual references could destroy the mind of children under aged as they become accustomed to these themes, therefore they might consider violence or sexual abuse acceptable in society. As a consequence, children with this mindset might grow up to be druggies or perverts if their addictions fail to disappear. I believe people should just take age limits seriously to prevent the lives of children from being poisoned by age restricted material, allowing them to have a more successful future.

...tors in order to progress. It may not occur to some people, but the world's population is dramatically increasing. If there are only a few thousand who are widely educated, who will tend to the needs of billions of people? This amount of doctors or teachers is simply not enough, which means age limits must be followed to allow new educated people to take over important roles in society.
Age limits are often taken for granted by many children and parents who have not experienced the regretful consequences of age restricted materials. People must form good habits towards age limits to prevent experiencing negative impacts. Not only can following age limits improve the lives of families, but can also improve the economic stability and survival of the human race. It is time to stop being arrogant towards age limits so people can have the chance of living better futures.
I suppose I believed some sort of freedom would be granted to me just because I turned another year older, however that was not the case. I did not gain any more freedom. By law I am legally an adult, but to my parents and society I am still just a kid. The more I think about it the more I realize I still am just a child; I just want to deny it most of the time. On the other hand, people set a precedent that children are ignorant and naïve. Therefore, opportunities to prove otherwise are nonexistent. A controversial topic pertaining age could be the legal drinking age. People who are for lowering the age limit to 18 have the argument, adults who are 18 can risk their lives at war in the military yet that can’t have a drink. Verses, the people who say 18 year olds are still not fully developed into making decisions, let alone under the influence. I can see both sides argument and agree with both, but I lean toward if people are willing to risk their lives at war they should be able to have a beer. I believe that age limits and alters people’s views on them. Growing up is about messing up with everything and learning from those mistakes, and people should not judge or limit others possibilities because they forget that they were once young
It is ironic that how some children are able to present themselves more mature than adults. The youth of the generation is becoming more mature and are developing adult skills faster than ever. People are beginning to wonder about the age of adulthood and how it should be determined. This controversy beleaguers around privileges such as drinking, driving, and voting. According to the article What is the Age of Responsibility by Alan Greenblatt, society determines that a person is an adult through customary rites, legal rights, and one’s responsibilities. However, I believe that the best way to adulthood is shown through one’s obligation for their priorities and work.
Despite the problems that would arise, many people are beginning to feel that the drinking age should be lowered from twenty-one to eighteen. Studies have been made; however, no hard evidence suggesting lowering the minimum drinking age would help have surfaced. Although there are countless studies of how alcohol has many harmful effects on teenagers, there is a great deal of negative criticism about what if the drinking age is lowered. Some would say the morally right decision is to not allow teens the chance to hurt themselves. Everyone is entitled to having his or her own opinions and beliefs. However, the overall health of the youth of our country seems a little more important than some personal belief. The drinking age should not be lowered due to the fact drunk driving, juvenile delinquency, and alcohol-related medical issues related to teens will increase.
This issue hit home for me because it puts many people at risk for things such as car accidents, binge drinking, alcoholism, depression, suicide, and rape, things no one should ever experience, let alone in middle or high school. These reasons are why the legal age to purchase, and consume alcohol should remain at 21 years of age.
In today’s world of multimedia it has become extremely hard to avoid the introduction of adult themes to younger children, who lack the maturity to process and question the information. Young people are bombarded continually with unsuitable and undesirable concepts that give false images of acceptable behavior. Music, movies, television, internet and video games are accredited with the moral deterioration of present day youth. Great strides have been made to establish rating guidelines, parental controls and warning labels that assist adults in making informed choices on what their children should or should not be able to access but they are not perfect.
Should the legal alcohol drinking age be lowered to eighteen? At the age of eighteen years old, you are eligible to vote, you can legally purchase cigarettes, you are eligible for the military draft, you are willing to die for this country, you are even able to serve on a jury, and you are titled as an adult at the age of eighteen. Why can’t someone at the age of eighteen not drink alcohol? Who is to say that just because someone is twenty-one years of age means that they are wise enough to drink alcohol in an accountable conduct? There are several explanations why one ought to be able to drink alcohol at the age of eighteen.

Dean-Mooney, Laura. "A Lower Age Would Be Unsafe." U.S. News & World Report 15 Sept. 2008: 10. EBSCOhost. Web. 2 Oct. 2011.
Teens today do things they know could get them into major trouble, such as going to parties, smoking and drinking. So why would people today want to have this problem, well it started when the age for drinking alcohol got raised to 21 years of age. Teens though that since the age was raised to such a high level and they could get married, sign contracts, join the army. That they could also drink, teens started going to parties then the drove home drunk so the law wouldn’t know, that they had been drinking (cons to the drinking age 10). The people thought that if they raised the age of drinking, drinking would go down and less accidents would happen. Well that didn’t go as planned it help in some states. Others the law has not really helped. Some states have made a proposal to lower the drinking age, all are similar , but different one state in particular to lowering the age is Missouri. As G.K. Chesterton said “The free man owns himself. He can damage himself with either eating or drinking;he can ruin himself with gambling. If he does he is certainly a fool and he might possibly be a damned soul;but if he may not, he is not a free man anymore than a dog.” So lowering the drinking age would make people free to damage yourselves.
Almost everyone has an opinion on what the drinking age should be. Some people believe that it should stay at 21. However, others argue that it should be lowered for the sake of teen safety. The opposition to lowering the drinking age backs their argument with science. Advocates of keeping the drinking age above twenty one believe that alcohol causes permanent damage to the still-developing brains of teenagers. This group of people includes scientists such as Susanne Hiller-Sturmhöfel, and H. Scott Swartzwelder, who have conducted scientific trials studying the effects alcohol has on the human brain. On the other hand, proponents of lowering the drinking age believe that the pros outweigh the cons of their story. To this group of people, including Ruth C. Engs, lowering the drinking age will come with restrictions still, although most of the restrictions will help educate young people about alcohol in the hopes of preventing alcohol related deaths.
According to Andrew Herman, “Each year, 14,000 die from drinking too much. 600,000 are victims of alcohol related physical assault and 17,000 are a result of drunken driving deaths, many being innocent bystanders” (470). These massive numbers bring about an important realization: alcohol is a huge issue in America today. Although the problem is evident in Americans of all ages, the biggest issue is present in young adults and teens. In fact, teens begin to feel the effects of alcohol twice as fast as adults and are more likely to participate in “binge-drinking” (Sullivan 473). The problem is evident, but the solution may be simple. Although opponents argue lowering the drinking age could make alcohol available to some teens not mature enough to handle it, lowering the drinking age actually teaches responsibility and safety in young adults, maintains consistency in age laws, and diminishes temptation.
First of all it is important to specify what exactly children are being exposed to when playing these games. There are several controversial topics inside of mature rated video games, most notably being violence and gore. According to the Entertainment Software Rating Board, or the ESRB, there are over eighteen thousand video games featuring violence and gore, several of which feature realistic looking human characters fighting and even killing other human characters. Another controversial topic in video games is the harsh language. The ESRB notes that an astounding twenty-eight thousand video games have language that someone could find offensive. Many children are younger than ten when they begin to play video games and being exposed to offensive language could start the child to using similar inappropriate language. Approximately the same number of video games have drug or alcohol abuse. In the majority of games containing drugs or alcohol a character will use them with little to no consequence, being completely unrealistic possibly making a child believe they could use the same d...
Many people believe that the drinking age of 21 protects teenagers from harming themselves but the age restriction is only causing more harm for them.
Underaged drinking has become an epidemic within the United States. Starting to consume alcohol at a young age damages the brains developmental process and also leaves behind long term drinking problems for that individual. According to the case file between Heisenberg vs. the State of Missouri, the national average underaged drinking begins at fifteen years of age. Curiosity allows students under the age of twenty-one to want to experiment with toxins like alcohol. These dangerous decision then create the unsafe action to drink and drive. The government should create laws that not only reinforce the existing laws but also alter them, so than young adults are restricted. The legal drinking age of twenty-one should be increased to twenty-five because underaged drinking causes a delay in brain development, it would decrease a young adults curiosity to perform dangerous behaviors and it is also the main cause for car crashes.
Many say that allowing legalizing alcohol towards 18 year olds would be dangerous because of their over consumption and binge drinking. People are afraid that if the legal age is lowered there would be little to no control on young adults and no limitation on their consumption of alcohol, or what they might do while they are intoxicated. There is no way of keepi...
