Imagine being put together as a band with total strangers and blowing up social media and having millions of fans all around the world and saving thousands of teenage girls’ lives by just being there and making music. That band I love was formed about four years ago on July 23, 2010 they are a British-Irish boy band known as One Direction. There are five members of the group, Harry Styles (from Cheshire, England) Niall Horan (from Westmeath, Ireland), Liam Payne (from Wolverhampton, England), Louis Tomlinson (from Doncaster, England), Zayn Malik (from Bradford, England). The members of one direction individually auditioned for the British show, ‘The X-Factor’. When Harry auditioned, he sang ‘isn’t she lovely’ by Stevie Wonder, Niall sang ‘so sick’ by Ne-Yo, Louis sang ‘hey there Delilah’, Liam sang, “cry me a river’ by Julie London, and Zayn sang, ‘let me love you’ by Mario. They all made it through but after a few weeks of the x factor boot camp, The Judges, Simon Cowell, Nichole Scherzinger, and Louis Walsh had to give the boys bad news and tell them they would not make it as solo ...
Twenty One Pilots is a band originating in Columbus, Ohio, formed by two people, Tyler Joseph, singer, songwriter, and ukulele player, and Josh Dun, drummer. Although the band only has two people in it, they have hundreds of thousands of fans from around the world, selling out their most recent tour, Blurryface Tour, out in seconds. When blindly looking at Macbeth and Twenty One Pilots, one may not be able notice any similar traits considering the first is a play written in 1606, and the other is a band that originated in 2009; both are completely different in form and are from contrasting eras. Despite these differences, the well-known Shakespearean play, Macbeth, and the band, Twenty One Pilots, share similar messages involving manipulation, the need for power, and suicide.
music so they left the band and devoted their time to writing and the band,
Occasionally a strobe awakes from its narcoleptic slumber to wink at the nocturnal nation cavort across fog flooded floors. I sit in the shadows. I am an island ( not in the geographical formation sense, but rather in the Simon and Garfunkle sense). Music seems so tainted; its freshness extracted by the incestuous industry. Get an acclaimed producer, and make a video to show how pretty your band is. Become a whiney lesbian folk singer professing cynical prophesies with an acoustic ax, a violent criminal that uses his vehemence as an art form, a diva whose love songs are darker than her exposed panties, or perhaps a greasy haired bar-chord master with a chip on his shoulder and a heroin needle in his arm proclaiming how hard life is in suburbia. There must be something new in rock's tepid arena, and not just another "underground" sound that is this week’s salt-lick style. There must be a band out there in the very nucleus of pop music that will not take its precious history and throw it away. That will endure to "stand on its shoulders," understand it and explore its depths to form new music (Percy 49). There must be a band that has a lead singer who wrote a poem about Neil Young vomiting, and then had the audacity to name the band after it (Park). There is. This is Soul Coughing.
...ther fans online it is not uncommon to come across conflicting fans. In the fandom of One direction, a very large and powerful fandom, there would be conflicts concerning if one is was a “true fan,” and if they were not fans of the boy group since their beginning days starting from the X-factor than they were not a true fan.
"A Fire Inside, to me, means these three other guys who drink all the soymilk backstage before I get a damn drop of it." Jade Puget, the guitarist for AFI, jokes. AFI is the greatest band. Of course, the music is also great. Those factors are topped, though, by the hardcore dedication of their fans.
America’s defenses were breached and hysteria gripped the nation. The invasion had begun. However, the sounds of sirens did not fill the streets to warn against nuclear attacks, nor were there warnings to stay indoors. Instead the youth of America rushed into the streets of New York and welcomed the invaders with loud screams and insane fanaticism. The invaders were The Beatles and the members were Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. One of the biggest and influential bands to change the face of music as we know it took the world by storm by introducing new sound, new fashion, and a new way of approaching music. The Beatles have etched a name for themselves and stand in history as one of the greatest bands of all time. However there is a reason why they are regarded so highly and have become the big name that they are today. I never once listened to The Beatles and I didn’t get into music until I was twelve years old, yet at the age of nine I knew who they were. The Beatles are almost a household name in western cultures and that is because of the profound effect they brought upon society at the time. With help from their musical influences, experiences, and being present at the right place at the right time, The Beatles ascended into fame. It is because of factors like their influences, their experiences as a band, their management, and their arrival at the right time that made their takeover that much more successful and influential.
With over 175 weeks on the number one slot, this band has been the most famous and influential band ever. It all started as a quartet from England, dreaming a dream, a dream about music, and a dream about life. The year is 1960, and 4 young teenage boys are recording their first song “Love Me Do.” Little did they know how famous they would become. I’m talking of course about the famous band, the Quarrymen. Oh, you have never heard of them? You may know them better as “The Beatles”, a band composed of four members. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr made up this legendary quartet. What these four boys did not know, was that only a few measly years after their first single, that they would be starting riots. Concerts sold out, and thousands of people imitating their every move. We have all heard the success story of the Beatles, but I am going to tell you how it all began. (“Beatlemania”)
If fans don 't do this other fans will start to assume they don 't like One Direction and they wont be considered a fan in their eyes. A fan should also vote for them in every award show they are part of so One Direction could win. This is almost considered a competition in the music world. This shows other fandoms , social media and One Direction , how Directioners are “the best fan base in the world”. They must also stick through every bad scandal that happens in the band. For example, when Zayn , a member of One Direction, left the band, many fans left the community because he was their favorite member of the band and those fans were no longer considered “Directioners”. If they stayed , then they were called a “real
The Beatles are known, respectively, as the fathers of modern pop music. After their first #1 hit “Please Please Me” was released in 1963 the Beatles were set in motion to become one of the most influential groups of musicians to ever rock our world. With over forty-nine records, 37 #1’s, and thirty- four number one albums (the highest amount of any band in history), there is no denying that they made a monumental ripple in the musical world. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr surprisingly all come from humble beginnings in a town that, until their superstardom, was barely noticed on the map. Liverpool, being kn...
West London-based Mumford & Sons is a folk/indie-rock band that favours atypical instrumentation, conjures up a unique sound, and appeals to a wide range of listeners. Emerging from what some in the media have labeled as the “West London Folk scene”, Mumford and Sons features four 20-something multi-instrumentalists and close friends: Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall, and Ted Dwayne. The English foursome joined forces in December 2007, bonded over a mutual appreciation of folk, rock, country, and bluegrass, and adopted the stage name of Mumford & Sons to give the band a familial connotation. Four years and several live performances later, Mumford & Sons achieved widespread, multi-platinum success with their unique brand of music. Following their performance at the Grammy Awards in February 2011 (alongside Bob Dylan, nonetheless), the band found itself topping music charts, having sold millions of copies of their debut album, Sigh No More, worldwide.
Throughout their career, Coldplay have continued to develop their sound whilst staying grounded and in touch with the world around them. Over almost the past two decades Coldplay has been taking the world by storm with their music reaching all corners of the world, Coldplay have a very diverse range of fans and followers aiding in their ever-increasing involvement in issues affecting a broad majority of the world. Though their journey to fame was a relatively slow burn, Coldplays flare for entertaining, passion for performance, ongoing release of music and constant charity work has kept them in the publics’ line of sight for over 18 years. Coldplay have been nominated for and won a multitude of awards during their career and have been and still
One of the concerts that I have attended was One Direction’s. One direction was formed by a group of boys from London in 2010. These young men were also known as Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The band started off from a British talent show on television called the X Factor. During the audition, the boys were eliminated as individuals, but Simon Cowell saw great potential in these young men as a group. He decided to make it happen by giving them another chance to perform together, and indeed they became famous ever since the formation of the English-Irish boy band One Direction.
Driving home after a long, difficult day, I turned on some music, searching for relief. The CD in the player consisted of all my favorite songs: “Pee Wee Long Way( Chasing)’,” “Lil Boosie (Long Journey),”Lil snupe “(Nobody),” and many others. My number one favorite song, “(Chasing),” was the first to play. Singing along to the lyrics, my mood was immediately better. This song reminded me of what was important in my life, my dreams and money. I then realized what these songs had in common; they all reflected my feelings on life: don’t give up on your dreams and don’t worry about every little thing life throws at you, keep chasing your dream until you reach the top.
After the show had ended, I felt slightly empty. I had waited years and months for that night, and it was over in the blink of an eye. Although I was sad that the show was over, I felt completely content. Now, when I hear their songs, I get to remember what it felt like to hear the band perform them live. I can watch the videos and try to wrap my mind around how it was real. Going to my first concert was an unparalleled experience that I will always cherish. The ambiance, the band’s performance and the unity the audience
