What is a good man? A popular and often controversial topic amongst women, also a question that has various answers and opinions. A good man encompasses various qualities which may be broken down, but not limited too, three subjects: true love, confidence and strength as well as a sense of responsibility of words and/or actions. A man looks out for those around him whether it is woman, friend, or stranger. A man can speak to dogs. A man fantasizes that kung fu lives deep inside him somewhere. A man knows how to sneak a look at cleavage and doesn't care if he gets busted once in a while. A man is good at his job. Maybe he never has, and maybe he never will, but a man figures he can knock someone, somewhere, on his ass. A man listens, and that's how he argues. He crafts opinions. He can pound the table, and take the floor. It's not that he must. It's that he can. It is also referred to as men being bad communicators, when in fact the best communicators are men. Men also have a good sense of direction. He understands the basic mechanics of the planet. Or he can close one eye, look up at the sun, and tell you what time of day it is, or where north is. He can tell you where you might find something to eat or where the fish run. A man is good for more things than women give us credit for.
Every man should posses a very solid sense of responsibility. Whether it is providing for his family or being a provider for himself. A man should be capable of leading courageously in times of distress. A man does not assume that he knows best, and where he is uncertain he will allow others to take their own risks, and learn their own lessons. A man stands behind his mistakes and is not afraid to admit that he is wrong. He leads by example knowing t...

.... When there is true love in a relationship it will not matter who brings home more money because at the end of the day your love for your partner keeps you warm at night.
Confidence, strength, a sense of responsibility, and true love are some of the major qualities a man should possess. A man should carry confidence on his shoulder in his daily walk. Weakness is only allowed when a man is out of the eye of the world and in the view of tranquility. A man is responsible at all times taking life one step at a time, living his life, not paying any mind to the mistakes made, but the lesson learned from them. True love is not how you forgive, but how you forget; it is not what you see but what you feel, not how you listen but how you understand, and not how you let go but how you hold on. After all, there may be many flowers in a man’s life, but there is only one rose.
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convince, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.
A brilliant storyteller during the mid-twentieth century, Flannery O'Connor wrote intriguing tales of morality, ethics and religion. A Southern writer, she wrote in the Southern Gothic style, cataloging thirty-two short stories; the most well known being “A Good Man is Hard to Find.”
...articular particularly symbolic aspect of A Good Man is Hard to Find is the fact that O'Connor is a great deal more elusive in her interpretation than in her other works. The author relies considerably more upon intangible ideals and concepts in which to make her point, which is readily obvious by the style and tone she adopts for the story. "She had her own distinctive, totally unsparing voice, and this novella about a tough old lady and a tougher escaped convict is as black as it gets" (Anonymous 182). In one way, she is trying to encourage both her readers and her characters to take control of their lives, to become empowered by the very events that serve to break down the people in her tale. Yet in another way, she recognizes the fact that people will always be the way they are, and nothing that anyone can say or do will ultimately save them from themselves.
The chapter “Clarify What’s Important to you” introduces several successful leaders and many praiseworthy values to me. Although each leader comes from different environments and possesses different characters, all of them keep their precious values in mind and persist in chasing their ideal lives. Even if each value can be interpreted by different meanings, they all lead encourage individuals to become better.
Several traits and abilities contribute to the making of the servant leader and are discussed with equal importance in the essay. However there are some that seem to stand out more than others, not only as advice to leaders but also as advice in living a high quality life.
One of the most memorable lines from “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” comes from the Misfit when he says, “She would have been a good woman if it had been someone there to shoot her for every minute of her life (O’Connor 309).” Flannery O’Connor’s depiction of Christian faith can be seen in almost all of her works. Inevitably, the plots in all of O’Connor’s stories end with a shocking conclusion, and this leaves the reader with freedom to interpret the central idea. From the endless list of themes that O’Connor embeds into her stories, “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” is largely influenced by divine grace, hypocrisy, bitter reality, and white supremacy.

Just some of the last pleading words of the grandmother in the story, “A Good Man is Hard to Find” by Flannery O’Connor. In the story, the author uses colloquialism, point-of-view, foreshadowing, and irony, as well as other rhetorical devices, to portray the satire of southern beliefs and religion throughout the entire piece.
“A Good Man is Hard to Find” is an example of Southern Gothic literature because it has many disturbing and violent events taken place in the south. O 'Connor wrote this story in 1953 and uses this type of literature to convey the personalities of the unusual characters. O’Connor places two important characters in the story: the protagonist and antagonist. The Misfit, the antagonist, is represented as a philosopher with wise words to advise people about faith, and the grandmother, the protagonist, believes herself to be an idealized woman with her self obsession of her status of a “lady.” In “A Good Man is Hard to Find” O’Connor conveys how characterization can be the underlying concept of the story, and she makes the readers question the
Respect is incredibly important to a man which is why they try their best to earn the respect of others through accomplishments and hard work. In “The Men we carry in our Minds” he explains that men have it hard, because they have the weight of having to
These men are my dad and my grandpas. The characteristics that they have shown me that define manhood are hard work, honesty, taking care of your family and helping others. My perception of manhood isn’t influenced by sexuality , but by the way a man lives his life and treats other.
In “A Good Man is Hard to Find” Flannery O’Conner tells the story of a family in route to their Florida vacation and the trouble the grandmother gets them in. The grandmother does not want to go to Florida on vacation and tries many methods of changing her son, Bailey’s mind. Although she tries many methods, none of them have the effect on him she desires. Bailey is as stubborn as his mother, completely shutting the door on every proposition his mother makes. When she finally makes some progress in delaying their travels things go horribly. Bailey and his family discover the hard way just how ironic life can be.
In “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” it is time for a trip to Florida for a family vacation. About half way through their journey, Bailey, the father within the family, reluctantly falls for the convincing of his children, John Wesley and June Star, and takes them to see the old plantation home the grandmother had previously mentioned. He turns on to the dirt road the grandmother says the house is on and drives for quite some time; the grandmother realizes the house is actually in Tennessee and not in Georgia. It is at this point where the stowed away Pitty Sing escapes from the basket and latches to Bailey’s neck. Bailey wrecks the car and the children’s mother breaks her shoulder, but there are no other injuries, which upsets June Star more than the fact that an accident has actually occurred. As the family sits and waits, a car comes along, but it is not the kind of help they were expecting. It is the Misfit and his two-man posse of Bobby Lee and Hiram. The grandmother recognizes the Misfit and tries to convince him that he is a good man and “comes from good people” and does not want to kill the family, but primarily her, a lady. Flannery O’Connor’s “A Good Man Is Hard to Find,” employs the journey archetype to illustrate that selfishness and manipulation will not always allow one to get through life a winner.
The author called out for servant leadership for long-term success for all stakeholders. Similar to other professions leader needs to hone their abilities to be effective in their leadership role. To find a purpose in what you achieve besides money, power, and fame resonates with the True North. A leader should act in the best interests of the organization that would lead to a greater good. To have a balance between IQ and EQ will lead to leadership with the True North. Passion, compassion, empathy, and courage matters the heart decisions are important components of the True North. To develop as a worthy human being, a leader must become self aware, integrated human being, and comfortable being his/herself. In addition a leader with the True North moves from I to we, is humble, serve customers, empower people, and align personal values with organization’s mission. A leader with True North demonstrates a high degree of integrity and walks his/her talk. A leader with a True North is an integrated leader with fine balance between personal, family, work, and community life. On a similar note, a leader with True North aligns and nourishes their mind, body, and soul.
“A Good Man Is Hard To Find” by Flannery O’Connor explores the complexity of human nature. The unnamed grandmother is a perfect example of how contradictory a person’s beliefs and standards can be. She is indirectly manipulative, yet she holds herself to a higher, purer standard than the other characters. Not to mention, the grandmother is not as she first appear, and she is stuck on the views of the past and how they apply to her as a lady, whether the views are correct or not.
