Recommended: defined a concept of a hero
Webster’s definition of a hero is, a person who is admired for great or brave acts ("Hero."). This is a basic definition because in actuality the definition of hero is more complex. A hero is someone who is selfless. In spite of the dangers or fears of what may happen, a hero will still do the right thing. A hero is someone who sees something that needs to be done and does it no matter the cost to themselves.
In order for someone to be considered a hero they must be completely selfless. They must be so at all times; even when it is difficult to do so, he must put others before themselves. A person is more concerned with the needs of others. An example of this would be, being in a rush and seeing someone fall. A hero or selfless person would stop and go help this person even though they are in a rush.
A lot of the times people think of a hero as someone who does something big like saving someone’s life or preventing a crime. But in reality it is even the people that go the extra mile to help someone else out, even when it is just a little thing, like stopping to help someone look for...
A hero is a person who cedes to benefit others. Through many complications that were faced they stood up with the greatest bravery. Welles Crowther is a great example of a hero who sought to help the other people in the World Trade Center during 9/11. Though he could’ve saved himself he tried to save others. Though he lost his life he inspired others to help others in need. Ling Young says,”He said,”I’m going back up again.” Cause he knows that there were a lot of people still up there on the 78th floor that needed help (“The Man in the Red Bandana”). Though he could have saved
Being a hero means to be willing to risk your life for others. Such as, Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a fantastic football player and he loved playing it too. Despite that, Pat Tillman turned down a 3.6million dollar contract to the Arizona Cardinals to go fight the war against terrorism. He ended up dieing from friendly fire. All this goes to show how brave Pat Tillman was to risk his life and give up his football career to go fight in Afghanistan to help protect the American people. Likewise, the people that helped evacuate New York City after the
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.
One of the most obvious examples of a hero is someone in the military. On a daily basis, those men and women put themselves in danger for the good of their country. They are the epitome of selfless because these soldiers haven’t met even close to half of the people they’re fighting for and yet they’re willing to die for them. People like these deserve the utmost respect for their willingness to be sacrifices for the lives of other people. Additionally, Dick Hoyt is another true example of selflessness. His son Rick Hoyt who was diagnosed as a spastic quadriplegic with cerebral palsy when he was a baby, loved the feeling of running because it made him feel as if he was not disabled. His father, willing to do anything for his son, pushed and pulled him through every race in order to make him feel that way again and again. While this team may not seem like an immediate example of selflessness, Dick Hoyt definitely values his son’s life more than his own. He goes through an entire physically exhausting race just for those minutes of happiness for Rick. Those few minutes of normalcy must mean the world for Rick, and Dick being the loving father that he is, is happy to be his arms and legs. Heroes that are selfless never think about their own problems before they think of others. Thoughts of selfishness doesn’t even cross their
A hero is someone is who is courageous, fearless, admirable, and humble. Someone who puts others needs before their own. Someone who is selfless.
A hero is someone who is there when you need them, they would give up everything for you. You never have to worry about them backing you up. They’re the people you never know about until you need someone to talk to. They are the most determined, which leads to them never giving up. This is important because to be a hero you don’t have to
A hero is someone who can portray courage when faced with a particular problem, able to assist others in certain ways and give them strength when faced with life's difficulties. In modern society, it is difficult to identify someone another individual can look up to as a hero. It takes a special person and quality to for others to follow and look up to without worrying that they can be led astray. A hero is someone who is able and willing to fight for everyone's freedom and to lay his life down for others (Kazin, 2013).
In my opinion, a hero is someone who is noble, selfless, brave and honest. A hero is someone who fights for their beliefs no matter what happens. They put the needs of others before themselves and is dedicated into helping others. He/she contributes to humanity and is always aware of the different consequences, good or bad, that can occur as a result of their actions.
A hero will sacrifice their own life for the life of others. Welles Crowther is an example of this because growing up he wanted to be a firefighter and trained to be one. He got an oppurtunity to be like a firefighter because, “When terrorists attacked the twin towers, he put that training to work and lost his life while helping others”(www.wcvb.com). So while he was saving people's lives he lost his own and became a hero. But he wasn’t the only person to risk their life that day, because Moira Smith, the first officer to report to the twin towers, also gave her life, “Officer
What is a hero? A hero is not one with a cape or unexplainable powers like strength or flight, but a hero can be an everyday common person. This common person is more unique than any of us thought of him or her to be. They would would go out of their way to help someone else in danger. A hero is one who will not give up in any scenario, one who will sacrifice themselves to help others, and one who doesn’t want popularity for themselves.
Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
Some definitions of heroes are people, who have noble qualities, and put the lives of others before their own life. They are expected to be reasonable and calm, during scary times, like when a shooting is going on, looking out for
What makes a hero? To me a hero is a person that does whatever is necessary to protect the people they’re serving or protecting. In the dictionary it says a hero is “a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.”
A hero is someone who invests their time helping others rather than themselves. They are always conscious of their surroundings and environment. Heroes help their enemies and friends regardless of the circumstances. A hero is also someone who is humble and knows when to be protective of others and themselves. Heroes are people who acknowledge flaws, and fix mistakes, those were my own definition of a hero. In “Undocumented Immigrant”, Jose Antonio Vargas tells the truth about his illegal status in the United States. Not only was he an immigrant in the United States, he was his own hero. Vargas proved that he is a hero through code switching, bravery and honesty.
In today's modern times we hear the word hero all of the time. The news media throws the term around as if it is an everyday word. What exactly is a hero? Who, or what, can be classified as heroic? The correct definition of the word hero is: One invested with heroic qualities in the opinions of others. That is a fine definition for books and intellectual minds. To the average person, however, a hero is much more.
