Throughout history there have always been leaders. Leadership is important in society, although not all leaders are the same. M. Weber described three different types of leaderships, the Authoritarian, Democratic, and Laissez-faire leadership. All of these leaderships tend to have their own advantages and disadvantages.
The Authoritarian leadership is a leadership based on an individual’s ideas that controls a group. The leader usually have little input from others on decision making and only follow only one person’s ideas (Cherry 2014). Most people find this type of leadership to be the most affective in getting things done, because it is strict and demanding. Although, not many people favor this type of leadership; it wins little affection from the followers. This type of leadership can be closely related to a Dictatorship. They both only have one person in control of everything. There are some countries that are an Authoritarian leadership like, North Korea. The person in control in North Korea right now is Kim Jong-Un, he is like the dictator. North Korea is an Authoritarian Leadership because; Kim Jong-Un controls everything. There are some disadvantages of having an Authoritarian leadership. Some of those are, it demands complete obedience, the leader can be seen as bossy /control seeker, and the there can be loss of creativeness in decision making (Cherry 2014). An example of obedience is, some aspects of people’s lives are forced to be changed, because they need to follow certain rules in order to be obedient. In North Korea, all male undergraduates in the hermit kingdom will be required to sport the same hairstyle as supreme leader Kim Jong Un, the BBC reports(Grossman 2014). They are basically forcing people to have part...

The past 3 rulers of North Korea are the perfect model for a ruler that successfully changed the society to glorify them. By using media, massive military, and fundamentally changing education, they developed a personality cult. Approximately 70 years after the start of the rule, North Korea has become a nation that is polarized from western, developed countries. Kim Jong Un has also differentiated from other rulers by also developing nuclear missiles that are banned lawfully and also morally by the world. Kim Jong Un is similar to the Islamic State in that he created a society that is nonconforming compared to the global society, while he used conformity as a tool to rule the people. All of the actions made by the Kim dynasty are done to gain
Leadership is important in all societies and situations. From the Sumerians, the first known civilization, all the way to present day countries, leadership has played an important part. No anarchist community has ever lasted more than a few months, because we need a leader, or leaders, to be in power and make rules. We as humans need a guide to place our morals and lead us to order.
Leadership is delicate precise and very rewarding. Many philosophers, teachers, businessmen and government officials have of the same characteristics that make them successful leaders. Also some other personal choice to make them failures. In acknowledging leadership within different perspectives and styles aspiring leaders are able to study, plan and correct all of traits and style that may make them ineffective at within their current role as leaders. In additional content of leaders and the role that government plays on society is a critical element in understanding different leadership and decision makers from different origins of the world.
When looking at the three traditional styles of leadership of authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire; I believe that I generally fall in to the category of democratic. In breaking down leadership further into theories, I hold the leadership behaviors which are that of the Interactional Leader.
Before defining what 5 golden rules a leader must possess, we need to define what is the best type of leadership style for a great leader. According to White, Lippit and Lewin there are three basic style of leadership. Each style comes with its positive and negative effects, but nonetheless leaders tend to use one or a mixture of the three. The three leadership styles are autocratic, democratic and laissez faire.
History has known far more authoritarian regimes than any other form of government. Authoritarianism is a form of non-democratic rule defined by state power being centralized in a single person or a small group of people. Unlike democracies, these individuals in power are not dependent on the people for power. Thus, under authoritarianism, state leaders have little accountability to the public and there is little individual freedom. Additionally, authoritarian regimes are not bound by a constitution that might limit their power. Such democratic liberties such as the right to assembly, freedom of speech, and freedom of the press are highly controlled or non-existent. State policies are designed to maintain the power status quo in favor of the ruling group and perceived threats are marginalized or, in some cases, extinguished.
The authoritarian style of leadership for many may seem harsh and extremely cut and dry. However that is not the case. For some people the best way to function is to create a system that works best for their planning ideas and methods. The Authoritarian style of leadership is the best method in this scenario. It allows one to plan in great detail how a scenario should play out and what each person involved should to do to meet the end goal. Perhaps because of the word authoritarian it seems
They further stated that most leadership forms a new paradigm for understanding both the lower and higher order effects of leadership style. The style of leadership which is adopted by a leader is influenced by the leader’s background, personal experience, religion, political affiliation, ideology, inclination, culture and even orientation without necessarily being based on the dynamics of the situation. The major leadership constructs consist of transformational leadership, transactional leadership, and lazzirfair leadership others that are going are common are democratic and autocratic types of

A leader can be defined as a person who influences a group of people, organization, etc. in to achieving a set out or common goal. The aim of this paper is to identify the different approaches to leadership, but there is no single definition of leadership, as it can mean many different things to many people depending of their profession, environment and leadership style (Mielach, 2012).

I like the fact that the teacher pointed out that leadership can be found everywhere. Leaders don't necessarily exist only in a company where there are a lot of people following you. “Everyone has the potential and possibility to be a leader”. They could be the best at inspiring others, or best at solving problems or dealing with criticism. By and large we all have the necessities to lead and I find, during the group discussions, that the difference and uniqueness of us that give us our own perspective to view and do things. Leadership is also about understanding and combining many different talents and to make them work together to create the best result. There are many kinds of leaders out there, and so many leadership styles. Yet I think we shouldn’t categorised ourselves into one or identify our superiors into one. Why? Because I think it is crucial to be flexible and adapt to which way to lead according to the situations For example, the Democratic style maybe the most popular and most effective, yet it is proved to be counter-productive in urgent occasions requiring instant and firm decisions from one person only, and that is the
Leadership is defined as a process by which an individual influences others to obtain goals. There are three aspects that should be addressed when explaining leadership. One aspect is that leadership is a social influence process; leadership could not exist without a leader and one or more followers. Another leadership aspect is compliance; all of the leader’s directions must be complied with voluntarily. Compliance is what separates leadership from other influence-based formal authority. Finally, leadership results in the followers’ behavior, that is purposeful and goal-directed which must be in some organized setting (Leadership Theories and Studies, 2009).
We can divide the theories that deal with leadership in 3 chronological groups. First were the trait theories. Until the 1940's, research in the field of leadership was dominated by these theories. Second came the behavioral theories which were very influent until the late 1960's. Finally, contingency theories are the most modern theories about leadership.
When some think of leadership the idea of the military is taken into account while others use the term to refer to executive management. These are few examples of different types of leaders there are. There are also different roles of leadership such as senior-level executives and middle managers. Motivated leaders who have charisma and high levels of emotional stability will be honest and have integrity in the manner in which they lead. An effective leader must be respected by the members of his or her group in order to perform effectively.
