When I was little I saw the world around me differently. I get that everyone has a story and that they believe they are special because no one can tell their story. Well, I don’t feel special. I realized that we aren’t so different from each other after all. We all grow up believing that what we went through no one else did. However, the reason I don’t feel special is because I'm sure when you’re reading all these papers, trying to figure out who deserves this scholarship, your probably reading the same story with the same desperate tone. I'm not different from any of the other applicants, but by this essay I am. You’re not going to hear a desperate person asking for sympathy and that they deserve the scholarship because college is too expensive.
In your speech of an “American Success Story”, you speak about cherishing your certificate for forty years. You announced your meaning of this certificate as a very special item to you because no other country offers as much as this certificate guarantees. Also you spoke of escaping discrimination by coming to America and having the guarantee of religious beliefs and personal freedom. You set down experiences about yourself, how you went through a poor life and then becoming orphaned shortly after arriving in the United States. In your speech, you discussed your dream of becoming a lawyer and making progress: educationally, professionally and economically. Also an interesting point you have made to y...
When candidates are competing for an award, a job, or an honor, they often use the qualities of their character as evidence as to why they deserve it. I certainly understand and believe in the necessity of qualifications; however, I have also always believed that having a plan of what one will do with a certain honor is an integral part of deserving it. That is why this essay is not about my previous accomplishments. This essay is a declaration of my ideas to serve as a representative of Seton Hill University by making the community, state, and country a better place for all.
Being raised as the eldest of five siblings by immigrant parents who were never able to finish school and pursue their ambitions because of their unfortunate financial situations. Opportunities like the one GHP is offering will not only be a life altering experience, but an experience that will expand my leadership, my communication skills, and my connections in the real world. I not only chose to apply to GHP because of the opportunity to challenge my skills on balancing school, student organizations, volunteer activities, and work but in hopes of showing my fellow peers, teachers, parents, and for younger siblings that it is possible to achieve your dreams even for a family that has financially struggled all through their lives. My parents have always motivated me to take every opportunity that is available to further guide me in my pathway to success. Opportunities like GHP are usually given to those who come from privileged families, however as coming from a family that doesn’t have the same privilege I

Coming out of my senior high school was one of the most difficult tasks I 've been given up to this point in my life. I was overwhelmed, excited, sad, busy, and uncertain of the near impending future. The past 13 years of my life I had been studying, practicing, playing, and working my way towards a brighter future. I could see the future in front of me, it was as if I could reach out and touch it. It was almost like getting a shot at the doctors, I knew it was what was best for me but I was terrified anyway. But I pushed aside my fears and on August 8, 2015, I set foot on a college campus, my home for the next four years. I knew why I was there though; I came to college in order to channel the love I have for my country into the motivation necessary to take the next step up the ladder towards a constitutional law degree, a degree I’ll use to protect this country and the people who reside in it. But to truly understand why I came to college, I have to start at the beginning.
It was back when I was 14 years old in the 8th grade, when I got an opportunity to take a trip to Washington D.C. to learn, explore, and meet new people in a different state. There was a long way to go, for me to be able to be chosen to go on the trip. This trip was competitive because only 10 students would get to go. I had to do some paperwork to let the assistant principal at my middle school know I’d be participating in competing with other kids at school to go to Washington D.C. I wrote an essay explaining who I was, how would this trip benefit my future, and why did I want to go to Washington D.C. I’d also be in charge of raising $500 on my own and also in the essay I had to explain how would I raise $500 on my own. I was settle to be
There is no worse feeling than when it feels like the whole world is against you. In the novel, Spare Parts, lies this feeling for 4 undocumented students from Carl Hayden High School. This feeling of opposition did not stop Oscar, Luis, Cristian, and Lorenzo from reaching their goal of competing in an underwater robotics competition. The boys did more than just compete, they blew their goal out of the water. They accomplished finishing in first place against top colleges and yet, the world seemed like it didn’t want them. This novel got me thinking about why is it so easy for someone like me to go to college without any problem. While they, who have done more than I ever have, have to drop out because they don’t have papers.
I’m in the top 10 percent of my class and already receiving scholarships. But without people like my parents who taught me good work ethic and the importance of having your own goals and how it’s much more important that you achieve your own goals than someone else’s, even though my expectations are higher than theirs. My teachers have all helped me to, they push me to do better. In ninth grade I started slacking and my biology teacher told me that she noticed and that I needed to do better and I did. These people and experiences have made me the kind of person I am today. They have made me an AP student with a plan, goal, and dream. Gladwell would describe these as my “accumulative advantages” (32) What are your accumulative
...r. With all of the downfalls that I have experienced in my academic and personal life a college education will make it possible for me to continue my journey into becoming a prestigious working corporate lawyer. I have the drive for success and I am certain that with this scholarship I would be able to pay off my debt and help my mother with her own educational goals. I was content that I was able to encourage her to attend school and I am most fortunate to be given an opportunity to help both her and myself obtain our ultimate goals for the near future. Thank You so much for this opportunity to compose this essay to you about my experiences in the academic arena and why I am deserving of this course. I am most deserving of this opportunity and I wish you and your organization much success for endowing me with this opportunity to be a candidate for your scholarship.
I turned out to be exceptionally on edge and I would take a gander at the site like clockwork. I went on the site and when I did not see my name, I got disappointed. My face fell by and by and this time it made me melancholy, so I went upstairs and cried into my pillow. Something that got me without a doubt surprise was that every one of the children that were chosen were educator's children. I then got exceptionally discouraged. Contemplations that were experiencing my head were that I was a disappointment, could not do anything, feeling alone in a swarmed room, and a couple of something beyond. The dejection assumed control over my life. I was so unstable about remaining at home that my family took me to the hospital on account of suicidal thoughts. At the hospital, the staff advised my father to take me to the Stress Center at Saint Vincent Hospital. It was hard to live every day knowing that the depression could make this happen again, but could be ten times worse.
It started with a 411. I was a blue-head, people snickered and taunted me. I wasn’t strong, smart. I joined ‘cause mother needed treatment money for cancer. Father was dead. Car crash in the 70’s while I was the tender age of 8. A great man, father was, probably better than I am, better than I’ll ever be.
From the beginning, I knew I wanted to attend induction for the NSCS. I wanted to learn more about this society that I was not completely familiar with. Not only did I want to learn about NSCS, but I also wanted to experience the induction and have my family be there for this huge opportunity.
Time flies so quickly and this is my third time that I make a speech in front of you. I talked about my dream to sing on Broadway when I was in the seventh grade. And I passionately spoke about the problem of homeless people and our activities;“Kodomo Yomawari” in the next year. But unfortunately I could not advance to the final.
Once a year ago, I applied for my first job at South Texas College. I wanted to help
