There are always two sides to every argument. While both sides of any argument generally hold some truths, somewhere in the middle is where each side must meet, if only to agree to disagree. what it really comes down to is the perspective of the individual. The following perspective on this subject of light beer versus full flavor beer is an on-going argument that all beer drinkers have taken part in at one time or another. Once the truth had been discovered about light beer in this age of staying slim, many have traded in their full flavor beer for the light beer.
One might bring into question the subject of such trivial importance, but one would think that if people cannot openly discuss a subject as trivial and inconsequential as beer, then how could they be expected to discuss something on a grander and more important scale such as child-welfare or the war in Iraq?
The great thing about light beer is that it has the same amount of alcohol as full flavor beer, but it has less than half the calories of its counterpart. That in its self should be enough to persuade anyone. Light beer will not give one that bloated feeling nor does it send one to the restroom as much, which allows one to spend more time drinking his or her beer instead of the toilet drinking it.
Full flavor beer is better than no beer at all and one would most certainly drink it if that is all that is available. Full flavor beer tends to leave people with hangovers that will last throughout the following day, while light beer rarely, if ever causes hangovers unless, those light beers have chased down a tequila shot, but then the hangover would have been caused by the tequila and not the light beer which, is the point that is being made..
With the advancement in brewing technology in the last five years, the mega-breweries have been able to produce a light beer with a more full bodied flavor without adding any additional calories. In fact, just recently Michelob has claimed to be able to produce a beer with one third fewer calories of light beer. They have appropriately named “Ultra”. Most would agree that is an amazing feat.
Now that the reader has had a chance to view this subject from another perspective, surely they would agree that the advantages of drinking light beer far out-weigh the advantages of drinking a full flavor beer.
Why would a man who fought against slavery, injustice, and discrimination write a racist book ? For some time, many students, educators, and scholars debated whether The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain deserves its place in our literary canon. Certain readers find the relationship between Huck and Jim especially problematic due to abundant use of the N word and Twain’s stereotypical depiction of Jim. On one hand, Jim is viewed as an uneducated slave who is always in peril due to Huck’s playfulness and immaturity. Yet, on the other hand, Jim is a complex secondary character crucial for Huck’s development from naiveté into maturity. Despite, the glaring overuse of racial epithets, Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn should remain in the literary canon and continue to be taught as it allows readers to address racial misconceptions, such as racial
In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, events throughout the novel suggest that Huck is a racist to Jim, Miss Watson’s runaway slave, whether he knows it or not. Despite the fact that Huck travels with Jim, he does not care about freeing Jim from slavery. As a result, Twain’s purpose is more focused on the adventures Huck and Jim experience rather than freeing Jim.
Given the decrease in sales for the past year, there is a need for a strategic analysis. As illustrated, the two options are either to introduce a light beer, or continue with the current strategy and hope that the company remains profitable. Light beer is growing in popularity throughout the country as a nation that is becoming more health-conscious and looking for new ways to indulge without the attendant side effects. Light beer sales are growing at an annual rate of 4% per year, while sales for premium beer declined by 4%. The light beers had already gained 50.4% of total beer sales and Mountain Man was not capturing this market opportunity. On the other had, MMB had established its reputation based on the sales of premium beer to a target market. Therefore, the introduction of light beer could affect the image and reputation of the company. Also, ...
Beer started out as an accidentally formed liquid that tasted good to the people, therefor that soon led to that liquid being used as a from of currency. The beer was then used to pay slaves, tradesmen, priests, and public officials. A lot of these people would do a days work in return for a jug or two of beer and a loaf or two of bread. This is truly amazing how something accidentally invented could become something so useful that people will work a full days work just to be pays in the alcoholic beverage. Before Facebook, Twitter, and the Internet there was the tavern. It was the hub for communication, many people spent their time at the tavern exchanging information connection many colonies into a nation. In good time beer later inspired one of the greatest events in human history, the American Revolution. Taverns became the central location where revolutionary activity was debated, discussed, plotted and planed. It is fitting that the national anthem was borrowed from an 18th century drinking song. Back then it was a sobriety test, if you could sing the song then you were okay for another
In Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the character of Huck considers himself to be a wholly bad and ignorant character. However, throughout the story Huck manages to commit many selfless acts and to live through some remarkable adventures that would give to the reader the image of Huck as a truly selfless hero. During the time in which Twain’s tale was written many people were unaware of the incorrectness of society’s attitudes towards black people. Huck, however, through his heroism grows and learns from the experiences he goes through and manages to form his own perspective on race and discrimination, and indeed it seems to be that the adventures of the story really begin when Huck meets the escaped slave Jim. “I was ever so glad to see Jim. I warn’t lonesome, now.” (Twain, page 36.) It is apparent to the reader that Jim is not classed as just a slave to Huck but rather he is his partner. Thus, in t...

However, as she dipped her hand into her panties, and displayed her digits, glistening with her arousal, his hips had bucked, and his cock throbbed painfully, entrapped in his trousers, as he groaned in need and lust. It was Lexi, who turned on him, and the intervening years had changed a thing. Eagerly he sucked her juices from her fingers, and tongue dripping with them, thrust it into her mouth, as his actions became more needy and urgent. Needing more of her, the folds of her pussy felt like silk against his palm, and her tight, dripping tunnel, like heaven when he thrust his fingers inside her; panting, and writhing as he slid them in and out, anticipating the feel of her tight, pulsing walls clamped around his engorged shaft as he sunk himself balls-deep inside her. "Oh fuck." Eyes narrowed and darkened with lust, he held her eyes, "I'm so fucking hard for you, baby," to watch her face when she responded to his
In “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,” Mark Twain shows the racism by portraying pretty much every white male except for Huck as racist, and most black characters as very ignorant. At the beginning of the book Jim, a black slave, is portrayed as a really dumb character because Twain has him believe in witches. The narrator, Huck, says “Niggers is always talking about witches in the dark by the kitchen fire; but whenever one was talking and letting on to know all about such things, Jim would happen in and say, “Hm! What you know ‘bout witches?” and that nigger was corked up and had to take a back seat. Jim always kept that five-center piece around his neck with a string and said it was a charm the devil give to him with his own hands and told him he could cure anybody with it and fetch witches whenever he wanted to, just by saying something to it; but he never told what it was he said to it. Niggers would come from all around there and give Jim anything they had, just for a sight of that five-center piece; but they wouldn’t touch it, because the devil had had his hands on it. Jim was most ruined for a servant, because he got so stuck up on account of having seen the devil and been rode by witches.” This makes all the blacks look extremely stupid, so much so that it is almost dehumanizing, ...
Narrow-minded readers will misinterpret the meaning behind great American novels. In July of 1876, exactly one century after the American Declaration of Independence, Mark Twain began writing his novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Huckleberry Finn is a novel that illustrates the social limitations that people become bound in because they are exposed to society. This novel has erupted generations of controversy regarding the racist aspects it contains. Critics who claim the novel is racist mainly argue that the depiction of a character, Jim, is drawn up to be negative. This assumption derives from Twain’s profound use of the word “n****”. At the time the novel was being written, the usage of this word was very common towards slaves and blacks. Even though this word is used countless times through the novel, Twains reason behind using the word was not to identify any characters with negative traits, but to satirize the users of the word and knowledge of white superiority with racism. He satirizes and explores the ignorance of Southern and religious whites. The novel is about a young boy named Huckleberry Finn who because of his adventurousness, curiosity, and fear of his father, runs away from home. Shortly after escaping Huck encounters a runaway slave he is familiar with named Jim. Together Huck and Jim drift down the Mississippi River avoiding society at all costs. Though out their adventure they develop a friendship. Many assumptions are made on how Twain intended readers to perceive Jim. Furthermore, Twain exposes the ignorance and racist views held by civilized and “wholesome” people to create a positive illustration of Jim along with his influence on Huck.
...Once someone chooses to pick up a bottle or can of alcohol and takes a swig there’s no going back. They may have made a decision that will impact the rest of their lives. It’s not right for advertisers to use people and things we admire and hold dear to our hearts in order to pass on these false perceptions about alcohol, but they still do it anyway. Advertisers are part of the reason why people not only suffer from alcoholism, but obesity and improper nutrition. They’re suggesting that we are weak and their products could make us feel better, look better, or even be better people, but the only person who can determine that about us is ourselves. Although they’re not the one to put the bottle in our hands it’s always good to be knowledgeable about what we purchase and put into our bodies. As the ancient Latin’s would say, “Caveat emptor, or, “Let the buyer beware.”
Although The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” has caused some major controversy, it is not a racist book. The major stem of the racial controversy in the novel comes from the “n” word. In the new edition of Huckleberry Finn, a book published in 1885 by Mark Twain, the word “nigger” will be replaced with “slave” over 219 times (Moore, Martha T.). Taking this word out of the book and replacing it is like taking out a part of our culture. As Moore states, “The word is ‘used for a reason’, this can be used to teach younger readers how to deal with more complex readings. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is not a racist novel because of Mark Twain’s intentions, the time period in which it was written, and the relationship between Huck and Jim.
... racism is immoral. Huckleberry Finn proves a statement that T.S. Elliot suggests, that Huck, "Has not imagination in the sense that Tom Sawyer has it: he has instead, vision. He sees the real world; and he does not judge it- he allows it to judge itself" (349). This quote also portrays Twain's point of view, one similar to that of Huck, which may lead one to think that Huck's character is taken from Twain's.
Over time the use of alcoholic drinks has become an increasing problem. Budweiser is a company that makes and sells alcoholic drinks. Although they are well aware that the alcoholic drinks can be harmful when they are over used. To advertise their drinks they made an ad that not only advertised the drink but at the same time shows people that drinking and driving is dangerous and not only hurts the people doing it but also others around them.
...e end of the novel, Huck and the reader have come to understand that Jim is not someone’s property or an inferior man, but an equal. To say that The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a racist novel is absurd, but there are always some hot-heads claiming that the novel is racist. These claims are not simply attempts to damage the image of a great novel, they come from people who are hurt by racism and don’t like seeing it in any context. However, they must realize that this novel and its author are not racist, and the purpose of the story is to prove black equality. It is vital for the reader to recognize these ideas as society’s and to recognize that Twain throughout the novel does encourage racist ideas, he disputes them. For this reason, and its profound moral implication, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn should not be removed from the literary canon. [1056]
Even when compared to popular light beers like, Sam Adams Light (119 calories), or Molson Light (113 calories), the difference is negligible. However, the intense roasted flavors that you get from the darker grains in Guinness results in a really bold flavor to a lot of people. Something that many light beers are lacking. But it is not a heavy beer. Guinness has long been considered a truly filling beer.
