One bright early morning at around 7:00 A.M. I woke up. After waking up I proceeded to use the restroom then took a shower. After showering I then ate breakfast then began to brush my teeth and got dressed for school. Finally, I was done with my morning routine and then I headed out for my day at school.
On my way to school I followed the speed limit to avoid getting a ticket. When I got to school I proceeded to go to my first class which is Sociology. When class was let out I went to the quad where I smoked a cigarette and did home work for my classes for the next day. Then at approximately 12:00 P.M. I met up with my friend Tonya then we walked to our next class, Theatre, which we had together. While in our Theatre class we joked around and criticized different movies, and the bad acting in several of those movies. When that class ended my friend Tonya and I decided to got to the mall.
When we got to the mall we parked at the food court so we could get something to eat at Chick-Fil-A after our long day at school. On the way walking to Chick-Fil-A we decided to stop at Abercrombie and Fitch, our favorite store. While in Abercrombie and Fitch I saw this really fine outfit but I only had enough money on me for me to eat that day. So my friend told me that I should just steal it so I could wear it when we went out that weekend. But I knew better I knew it would be wrong so I decided we should just leave and go eat and I would go back and get the outfit once I had enough money for the outfit on me. After we ate we decided to leave the mall. While I was bringing her back to her vehicle another friend of mine, Kenny, called. He called to invite me over before work because he was going to be cooking and few people were going to go over. So I told him I would but I had to go home and get dressed for work before I went out there to meet them. I then went home and got dressed for a long night at work.
After I took my shower and got dressed I left and went to Kenny’s.
In the book Mice and Men, John Steinbeck uses both Direct Characterization, and Indirect Characterization, to describe the characters. Direct characterization is when you tell the reader the characteristics of the character directly. For example, “She is tall and skinny.”On the other hand, Indirect characterization is when you give a description of the character, without directly saying what the character is like, through speech and actions. Direct And Indirect Characterization can easily be compared and contrasted in many ways.
An example of direct characterization is when Steinbeck show how Carlson likes to do things like play cards by himself when there are others around but instead he decides to play solitar which is a one-person game instead of playing together. Also, direct characterization is used when Carlson says “Well, looks here, Slim.
Characterization is the process by which the author reveal the personality of a character. Characterization can be created in two different ways: direct and indirect characterization. Direct characterization is when the author tells the readers what a character is like. Indirect characterization is based on clues from the story, the reader decides what a character is like. Indirect characterization can come from what the character says/does, what the character thinks, what others say about the character, and the character’s physical appearance.
When Janelle was thinking, and said, “you are Thighs “R” Us,” in her head, and she thinks about Lupe saying, “you have a very pretty face,” you begin to get the image of what she looks like. The author allows us to then see what some of her characteristics when Janelle says, “I mean, I am smart and funny, and I know I’m a good person,” and then later says, “I wish people could see me on the inside. I know I’m beautiful in there.” So, by the end of her first chapter, she has told us enough directly for us to be able to see what she is like, and what she looks like. I think that there could be a couple of reasons why the author chose to use direct characterization. One reason I believe she did this is that letting you into the character’s mind like she let us into Janelle’s seems very personal, and seems to be more on the indirect side of direct characterization, since it is her thoughts on herself, so you can choose whether or not to believe it. This makes it seem like direct characterization is maybe a bit more okay, whereas in some books it may seem to quick or simple. I also think that maybe the author did this because in this particular book, each character’s chapters are pretty short, and using direct characterization may allow her to
Instead of having an honest conversation I talked to my roommate about his future. I painted a picture of the future if he continued to party every night and not do well in school. My painting was
Characterization is the way a writer makes a person in a story, book, play, movie, or television show seem like a real person. A person that is the best person to characterize is Rikki-Tikki. Rikki-tikki can be characterized as curious because everytime he wakes up he checks the house. he can also be characterized a courageous because he fought Nag and Nagaina single handedly and killed them both. Another thing he could be characterized as is strategic because he killed the babies so Nagarina could not breed them to be like
Out of all the literary elements, Characterization is considered one of the most powerful. A believable, entertaining story needs Characters who are lifelike and who develop throughout the story. Unforgettable characters we recall from our childhood had several sides to them; like real people, they were depicted as complex individuals with a mixture of traits from both nature and experience.
Riley tackled the jock, revealing the identity of the other kid; it was Keith. Riley mounted the jock and started wailing on his face, Riley was tall, 6,4 to be exact, which restricted the jock from pushing him off. The jock was screaming and crying, his face was a bloody mess. Riley had an evil frown on his face while unleashing the flurry punches on the guy. Not long after this, teachers started pouring into the crowd and pulling Riley off the jock, I looked around for Keith but couldn't find him no where. The kids left and sat at their tables. Riley and the jock were dragged out of the lunchroom by the teachers, since all of my friends were no where in sight, I decided to skip school. I went to the spot me and the guys always hang out at, It's an abandoned bridge in the woods, we always smoke and drink there, and talk about how much we hate ourselves and how much we hate others. When I got there I encountered Keith, he was wiping blood off his face and having a smoke, cursing under his breath. I walk up to him and make conversation. "Hey man, are you okay? It looked pretty bad out there". "Nah man, I'm fine. The fucker got in my face and started talking major trash, I didn't even say a fucking
It was another morning commute to Highland Park elementary school on the poorly funded school bus that could have been from the 80’s. I had just boarded the bus as was sitting towards the back waiting for my group of friends to get picked up. I looked to my right to see the girl I had the biggest crush on at the moment. I was a shy kid, and never did I have the guts to talk to the girls I thought were really pretty, however, I was a big show off. I preferred to amuse the ladies with my reckless actions and ability to make people laugh with repetitive jokes. The bus soon stopped to pick up my friends. We instantly started talking about WWE and how one wrestler is better than another. It soon got very intense and the arguments started to become real. Some of the guys got up and started to demonstrate wrestling moves on each other. In order to secure my argument about how the jumping finisher is better than the chokeslam, I got up on my seat and ordered one of my friends to hold down my other friend. They were seated across from my seat, but they were one seat ahead of the cute girl I was in love with. As I climbed my seat I was
“Yeah? Well-” Before I could say a comeback, the girl left. Her name was Jenna Richard, and she bullied me for about a month and a half. Every day at lunch, Jenna would come over to our lunch table, make fun of my food or of what I was reading and leave before we could say anything. My friends of course tried to stand up for me, but it was no use. I decided to go to my teacher after lunch to talk to her about Jenna. But we both had the same teacher after lunch, and when I told my teacher about Jenna bullying me, she called Jenna up and asked her if it was true. But Jenna told her that I was completely wrong, and that I was the one bullying her. When the teacher asked some other people as witnesses, they told her mixed answers. Some were telling the truth and saw it happening, but Jenna’s close friends were telling the teacher that I was bullying her. As she didn’t know what to do, the teacher gave us both extra homework that was due directly the day after. The next day, when the teacher asked for the homework, I gave the completed worksheets, while Jenna had done only a few problems, saying that she didn’t deserve the homework since she was “innocent”. But the teacher surprised us both by telling us that she was taking the combined score of the worksheets as a test grade, which meant that Jenna was probably going to get her grade in that class lowered significantly. I like to think of that as a minor “sentence” for bullying me and lying to a
After that day I decided to take my project one step farther and push past everyone’s threshold. In order to break the norms of society and truly make people uncomfortable, I decided to wear the color pink for the entire day of school. I went to the local Savers and purchased several items that were very feminine. I bought a pair of pink and yellow striped bellbottoms and a tight pink collared shirt. I wore the clothes to school in the hopes to witness the students reactions to me wearing clothes completely out of the ordinary. After attending two classes that day, I decided to talk to some friends of mine. They all told me that I looked like a “fag.” I finally had broke the norms of society and at the same time caught my friends stereot...

As mention earlier Starbucks has many opportunities of which it can take advantage. These include a joint venture with McDonald’s, where the restaurant giant would supply its customers with Starbucks coffee. Another is the bottled Frappuccino product that Pepsi and Starbucks have created. This has had a very positive response in the test markets and posses to be a lucrative option. Starbucks could also look at the vertical integration possibility of producing its own beans. This could prove to be very successful if they can capture a significant amount of the production they could become a price setter in the coffee commodities. Also because small coffee retail outlets are so trendy it is possible for them to set ...
My first day of school was probably the most horrifying day of my entire life. After my mom and grandma took hundreds of pictures I walked up to the bus stop where my friend Taylor Scott would be waiting.
I remember this day as if it were yesterday. May 12, 2010 I woke up for school at six thirty in the morning, just like any other school day. But just like any other middle school student I was tired and did not want to go back to a place that they like to call school but I looked at it more of a prison. Every morning I had a routine which was to wake up, get ready for school and try my hardest to not miss the bus, for some reason the bus driver never liked to wait for me. The day started off great, I did not miss the bus, right before lunch I passed my math test with a B- . The last class of the day was Mrs. Orozco, who was my science teacher, she was not my favorite but I was having a good day so I had a positive mindset when entering her classroom.
