Greg Graffin
The band Bad religion was formed in the early eighties and has now been around over 15 years and has released over eight albums, the lead singer has continued his schooling and now has one bachelors degree ,a masters and is working on his Ph.D.
Greg Graffin was born in 1965 in Wisconsin. His mother and father were divorced after his birth. In 1976 his mother his brother and him moved to San
Fernando valley California, which is now the punk rock capital of the world.
"Like millions of other victims of divorce in the seventies I had to deal with the fact that my father was now living far away(In Racine, Wisconsin) and that I would not get to see him very much." While his father was in Wisconsin he began work at the university of Wisconsin as a professor. He still works their today.
Greg was often picked on in high school because of his "Punkness". "There were three people at my high school who were punkers, I mean I got beat up everyday by long haired people who listened to Rush and would beat me up because I didn't.
When he was fifteen he started a band with other social outcasts who didn't quite fit in. They settled on the name BAD RELIGION.
Bad Religion does not pertain to any kind of sacrilegious activities or the like. Instead it is a statement against any establishment that promotes dogmatic thinking or punishes individualism and rewards followers. Greg once said in an interview "Instead of rewarding uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity". On 15/10/93 Greg said BR has 108 songs and 5 or 6 are about religious issues.
Greg has a very different view point about education then most punks.
When the band broke up in 1983 he moved back to Wisconsin and attend the university of wisconsin-madison. soon the administration had found out that he was not an official resident any longer so he was kicked out. He had previously received his Masters degree in
Anthropology and a his B.Sc. in geology. This work was very field oriented since he had to study fossils to get the degrees. In 1990 he transferred to
Cornell University (in Ithica where he currently lives) for a Ph.D.. It will be a biology degree, but since he studies fossils it will be evolutionary biology-

In the 2006 hit movie Alpha Dog Emile Hirsch plays the role of a young marijuana dealer named Johnny Truelove. Supplied by his father Sonny, Johnny distributed marijuana to buyers with the help of his closest friends . This act of deviancy gave him power and authority over the people In his life. Even so much authority that he could have someone killed by just a simple request. Throughout the film there were many characters that played a critical role in the kidnapping and murder of Zack Mazursky. However Johnny 's character stands out the most to me mainly because even though his criminal behavior prevailed he portrayed both delinquent and charismatic acts throughout the film. What was even more intriguing to me was how his character continued
For backyard grillers across the entire nation, there is really one simple, fundamental question that each must answer. That question is this: Gas grill or charcoal grill? There are many things that a person can take into consideration when making this choice. Is convenience the most sought after asset, or are you a lover of the process of starting and taming the fire? Is a quick and easy experience and clean up worth risking the quality taste that could be gained? This question does not have a finite answer, but there are many markers along the way that can point towards the direction of what side best suits the griller's needs. Although there are perks in each type of grill, a charcoal grill provides a more enjoyable taste than a gas grill

It seems that single-sex education perpetuates gender stereotypes and promotes gender bias among students (Taylor). Gender-separate education requires schools and teachers to create gender-oriented courses, facilities, and learning environment. As a result, sing-sex schools exacerbate sexist attitudes and “feelings of superiority toward women” (Guarisco). It is fair to argue that the best way to achieve gender equality is to promote rather than eliminate interaction among girls and boys. However, girls in the sex-mixed class receive less attention from teachers than boys, which may lead to gender bias. More precisely, boys always have disciplinary issues, such as interruption; teachers have to pay more attention to boys’ behaviors in order to proceed the lecture more smoothly. Girls may feel less important and supportive in male-dominated classes; boys may think that males are smarter and far superior than females. Single-sex schools can address both girls’ and boys’ issues of gender stereotypes directly and accordingly. Male students may be freer to engage in some activities they have not considered before in mixed schools. For example, boys feel pressure to follow some non-macho interests when girls stay around them; however, the all-boys schools eliminate their pressure toward gender stereotyping to pursue music, dance, and drawing. Single-sex schools would help boys explore and develop themselves. Also, girls in sex-separate schools show more confidence and power (Guarisco). They could receive full attention from teachers and express their opinions in science classes without worrying about the boys’ banter. They may realize that they are as important as boys. Hence, both girls and boys can be free from gender stereotypes and benefit from a same-sex learning
The single-sex format creates opportunities that do not exist in the coed classroom. (Edison 1) Researchers are unaware that both genders brains function differently. This lack of knowledge may be why the real truth about single-sex education being more efficient than co-ed education has not been discovered. Some say single-sex education may be the key for a brighter generation. It shows to improve test score dramatically. The number of public schools experimenting with single sex classes is now reported to be more than 350. (Silva 130) Some research also shows that single-sex classes have a more welcoming atmosphere. Single-sex education improves grades while coed educations keep an average pace.
Socrates is correct when he says the “the unexamined life is not worth living” In order to discuss why Socrates is correct, I would like to discuss these various points which consist of: the significance as well as the underlying meaning of his quote “the unexamined life is not worth living”, the difference between an unexamined life and an examined life, specific examples, the importance of a person living an examined life and lastly, whether or not I’m living an examined life.
Single sex education is a controversial battle that will most likely continue for decades. However, research and studies have shown in multiple cases and circumstances that single sex education is an extremely important tool that should be utilized in numerous situations. Many people think that dividing students based on sex will perpetuate gender discrimination; however, this kind of education may bridge more gaps than people realize. Not only do boys and girls develop and function differently, they are distracted by one another. Eliminating distractions and making classrooms conducive to each gender and learning style will ultimately result in a tremendous incline in academic grades and student participation.

Socrates felt that, above all, one should be a good citizen and always do the right thing (Plato 18). However, many in his time did not worry about doing what was correct. Socrates realized this, and understood that they did not care to look into their actions and beliefs. Their first thoughts were on the goals that they had, such as money and pleasure, rather than the thought of whether or not the goals they held were actually what should have been considered important and right (Plato 26). Socrates knew that, unless they took the time to question their lifestyles, they would never do the right thing. By living a life that was being examined, the citizens would be living a life that was, for the most part, also right. Socrates believed that a life that was not right was not worth living, which is why he also felt as though an unexamined life would also be not worth living.
Some people think that single sex schools are good because girls and boys feel free to talk, ask and raise their hands without being made fun of, "The theoretical approach termed 'girl power' argues that girls lag behind boys in some subject in co-ed classrooms." (predit, 2014). However, Single sex schools are very bad because it affects children attitude, they will find difficulty in communicating with their colleagues in college as they were secluded and didn't interact with other sex in school. Boys and girls should know from a young age how to deal with the opposite sex, instead of facing that when they become adults, and don't have experience on what to do. Students in single-sex classrooms will one day live and work side-by-side with members of the opposite sex .Educating students in single-sex schools restrains their chance to work helpfully and cooperate effectively with parts of the inverse sex. "It is not long before the youth of today will be the parents, co-workers and leaders of tomorrow" (strauss, 2012). "Anything we organize along any variable, if we're saying boys he...
One simple consideration that can change the course of how people think about their approach to life is, the examination of the influences that they have on other people’s lives. An individual could also look outwards and analyze the impact that other people have on that individual’s life. One should also self-reflect and search for how their thoughts and actions craft a pathway towards their own destiny. The statement by Socrates, “the unexamined life is not worth living,” is an interesting statement that requires a considerable amount of analysis.
