Intrapersonal Intern
In using my Intrapersonal communication I trying to process the information from the environment and sending explanations to myself. The first I can remember doing this a lot. I was watch the other members that work in the office very closely in how they talk to each other. What kind of verbal and non-verbal communication do they use. I do not think I was doing to be critical but to merely understand whom I am working with and get some kind of feeling where I will fit in.
One interesting message that I picked up was small but something to remember. There are two different offices for the outdoor recreation program. Jared has one and Crissy has the other one. Walking into Crissy office everything is in place ver net and clean. You’re able to see everything easily. When you go into Jared office you got a disaster. Boxes of Tennis stuff all over the office. In the other corner you have outdoor magazines all over the floor and side desk. His desk is filled with paper work after paper work. On the other sided of the office you have the work-study desk and that is neat and cleaned off. Sometimes I wonder if it is a man woman thing that the desks are clean or disorder. See how Jared now works with four women in the offices. I do not think that it is true because I have some friends who are woman and their desks are dirtier than Jared’s is. The good thing that I have noticed about Jared thought is that his may look disorder but he know where everything is. If I would have asked the girls for something on their desk they could not have found it very quickly.
I always see Jared and Crissy outside of the office and they always speak to me and ask me how I am doing. When they send me e-mails they are always friendly and telling me to have ‘good’ or ‘great’ weekends. So I do see that they are trying to make it as comfortable as they can or know how. They always tell me that education comes’ first so if I had a big exam or something like then I could work on that during my hour if I need to.

Internships completed by students in certain degree programs are quite popular in most colleges and universities. An internship is used so classroom based learning in a degree program can be applied to practical situations in the real world (Jordan, Burns, Bedard & Barringer, 2007). When students are placed with an agency, there is a real possibility that a portion of students will witness actions they believe is unethical or illegal. During a study conducted within four universities, many students that participated in an internship program within the criminal justice system reported that they had observed behavior they suspected to be illegal behavior for a law enforcement agency. (Jordan et al. 2007). Due to this ongoing problem, colleges
Communication is the way each one of us communicates to one another in the world today. For instance, if there act no way in relating to a person by understanding the person. There are two forms of communications, and called the verbal communication and the second one is called nonverbal communication. Oral consist of communicating with your voice with another person while nonverbal consist of communicating through the body language or gesture of an individual. The principles of teaching are to understand better a person in different places of the world.
Communication is an important aspect of processing and transferring information in our society. The important entities needed for a successful communication includes; a sender, receiver, message and feedback. First, the sender is a person or entity that is sending information to the receiver. After receiving the message, the receiver will attempt to decode the message and prepares a proper response (feedback). Communication is an essential part of our daily interactions; it can be seen used in businesses, for pleasure, sports, education and many more activities.
Some of the limitations that I felt myself come across is that as an intern I was not able to follow up with my case load as much as I would have wanted. For one, my program is outpatient community based, meaning most of my interactions were at his home with a social worker because we are not allowed to use government vehicles to make home visits. This was difficult because I was not able to gain full rapport with my client because there was always an extra set of eyes that was also interfering with the process of rapport building. My other limitation was that I was only available two days a week which made it hard for me to be there as his case manager given the fact that he was in crisis a couple of times.
Facial expressions, body language and tone of voice are a few nonverbal cues that characterize about 55% of nonverbal communication (Quintanilla & Wahl, 2014). People are visual in society, and tend to believe what is seen over what is voiced verbally. During a meeting, someone would use a firm handshake, dress properly, and show a satisfying behavior to an employer or future clients. Another effective communication is when a manager can express empathy by using gestures such as a smile, a look, body placement, and hand movement during an evaluation. Using the KEYS strategies for nonverbal cues can have a positive effect on demonstrative communication (Quintanilla & Wahl, 2014). The four KEYS consist of: know yourself, evaluate the professional context, your communication interaction occurs, and step back and reflect. Strategy one is to know yourself by the awareness of your nonverbal cues which is unconsciously created because a person may be unaware of their worst nonverbal cues at the time of conversation. The next approach, evaluate the professional perspective, expects a person to measure the nonverbal signals suitab...
Biological crime theory describes that an individual is born with the desire to commit a certain crime. Evolutionary factors influence an individual’s involvement in criminal behavior. “Biological theories focus on aspects of the physical body, such as inherited genes, evolutionary factors, brain structures, or the role of hormones in influencing behavior” (Marsh, I, 2006, 3). Murderers that are innate to kill are born with factors such as mental illnesses that are the driving force as to why one may kill. Because of the biological crime theory, some individuals, though rare, are able to plead insanity. This is because the actions of the individual are said to be beyond their control (Ministry of Justice, 2006, 3).
Successful communication is dependent on what is heard NOT what is said. Each of these communication styles is beneficial and necessary at some point while carrying out administrative duties. Understanding how my communication style comes across to other people, as well as being able to “read” other people’s behavior, are essential to working best (not just well) with others. Over the last year, I’ve been successful finding common ground with staff, while maintaining my individuality and integrity. I’ve adjusted my behavior in small ways to improve results of crucial conversations and tense
Nature versus nurture has been argued in attempt to understand how criminals behave. The theory of what influences psychopath and serial killers’ violent and destructive pathways has not been agreed on till this day. Criminals such as psychopaths and serial killers have been researched for the past two decades. Scientists have found that genetics is a determining factor of who becomes a serial killer. It is important to understand the determinants involved within a serial killer, because if these social and environmental causes are discovered, they can be altered and controlled to reduce crime (Lykken, 1993). With more studies, we would therefore prevent mass murders and could assist in significant reductions of crime within society.
Currie (2007) states Effective Verbal Communication is important when building relationships with clients, customers, and the media (pg 1). Verbal communication is important along with listening skills so that communication between parties is clear. Verbal communication is accompanied by sign language called non verbal communication. This communication can be expressed in many ways: One can ask another “How are you today” Reply, “I’m okay” but the shrugging of the shoulders, squinting of eyes and lips closed tightly together gives another answer.
Nonverbal communication is just as important as verbal communication. Sometimes it can tell more to others than our words. We communicate in many different ways. Learning how to communicate in professional environments and personal environments can help us to achieve the results we desire.
Interpersonal communication is one of the significant skills while communicating with other individuals. It normally covers an extensive area and includes both verbal and non-verbal communication. Body language and facial expression may affect the accurateness of the message transmission directly. Interpersonal communication skills normally ensure that the message is sent and received correctly without any alteration thus improving the communication efficiency. Learning diverse aspects of interpersonal communication has greatly aided me in better understanding of what it consists. I am capable of applying the knowledge gained from this course to my personal experiences. This paper reflects on my personal experience in learning interpersonal communication.
There are many types of non-verbal communications and some of them may be gestures, posture, facial expressions, eye contact and appearance. This is important since it can make you appear confident and competent in your workplace. Appearance is showing up to work, school, or wherever it may be, prepared, in proper attire and with personal hygiene needs met. This can help build a relationship between your client since looking clean helps the person feel like you are organized and that you are the right person to be assigned to help them. Eye contact, however is something I do need to work on since I get anxious at times with confrontation. This is important to fix because it helps show the other person that you are focused and paying attention to them. Facial expressions are important since whenever something arises on the job that displeases you, you should respect the client’s decisions or rights and try your best to not let your personal emotions appear on your face. These factors work in supporting verbal communication and helps show appropriate
Communication is the interaction between individuals and is an important skill to use within the Children and Young People's Workforce. The structure of communication is used by passing a message, receiving the message and replying to the message which is an essential and a basic skill of life. There are different types of communication, which are: Verbal Communication and Non-verbal communication. The reasons why people communicate is to express/portray our feelings and needs. We also need to communicate in order to build positive relationships with other professionals, children/young people and their families. Another reason we communicate is to understand one another and learn from one another by sharing ideas/information and experiences.
