Disseminating Democratic Education Now
The subject of disseminating democratic education is important and urgent, chiefly because the topic of the transfer of democracy is vital. and even urgently so. And yet no transfer of democracy is possible without some large-scale democratic education. Of course, to that end we must stick to basics, as time and efficiency may make the difference between success and failure. For, there are few occasions given for democratization, and they are always all to brief, as the bitter experience of the current United States administration of Iraq has learned the hard way. It is reasonable to emulate all sorts of aspects of the democratic way of life on the reasonable assumption that they may help democratization. For example, there is little doubt that even viewing cheap Hollywood movies may help. But we need not be social or political scientists to know that this is a poor diet as far as democratic education go. And the Iraqi people will not democratize by viewing movies or television. Nevertheless, quite possibly this is the most efficient way to disseminate democracy. Under what conditions this is so and how much time it requires? These are vital questions. They were not discussed, as far as my little knowledge goes. There is, on the whole, little literature about the vital topic of the transfer of democracy even though it is so topical today, particularly for ones who are concerned with the fate of Iraq. There is even less literature about the vital topic of education for democracy even in a democratic society. I read recently a remark about the paucity of this kind of literature, but I need not refer to any particular source. Anyone who has minimal internet literacy can seek on the internet democratic education or education for democracy, or democratization and see how poor is the state of the art. There is a good reason for this. One might suggest that the reason is simply intellectual poverty, but this is not the case. Even some interesting and bold ideas are not studied and not taken up. For example, the plan of President Habib Borguiba of Tunis for shipping thousands of youths to democratic countries for a couple of years. There was much talk once about it -- in the wake of the reeducation of German youths after World War II. This plan is admittedly too costly and it is even an expression of despair, of utter ignorance of how democratic practices can be transferred without the transfer of its carriers.

On the evening of February 9, 1964, The Beatles made their American television debut and shook Americans by storm. The four lads from Liverpool redefined American culture, popular music, and traditional standards of living. After The Ed Sullivan show, The Beatles became a worldwide household name, and millions of people around the world began to get sucked into a world where The Beatles were like royalty. For the ten years The Beatles were collectively together as a group, they changed the way people dressed, thought of music, changed cultural views of sex, and race, and ultimately changed music and culture permanently. The Beatles never realized the effect that their influence would have on the public, they just wanted to play music in America. As an avid Beatles fan, I have always been intrigued about The Beatles influence on the world, especially in America. I pondered different issues within The Beatles change, and I found myself asking: how did the Beatles’ dependence on counter-culture change and image change music industry and The American public? Although The Beatles did not intend to change American culture, The Beatles changed America by helping bridge the gap between set gender roles, helping shift public opinion towards the civil rights and anti-war movements, and their devilishly good looks and marketing team were able to transform The Beatles into a band everyone knew and loved.

Michael Jeffrey Jordan is known all over the world today as the greatest basketball player ever and the best sneaker designer. When he was a young boy nobody would ever have guessed what he would become. Michael did not dream of being a professional ballplayer. He just wanted to be the best player in the park. He eventually had good coaches who led him to be a great player in high school and college, which led to his unbelievable success in professional basketball.. Later Michael would play as a pro in baseball, too. It was a brief change of sport, and he soon concluded that his future was in one area only - basketball. He even led the United States Olympics basketball team to success more than once. There were a lot of great players before him, but Michael Jordan would go farther than any of them. Even though
For almost 50 years, we have captured and contained orcas, more commonly known as killer whales, from the wild for our own personal entertainment. Living in Indiana, the closest thing we have to a “Shamu Show” is our dolphin shows at the Indianapolis Zoo. Watching those shows can be absolutely enchanting. So much so that you often forget about how they got there or how their habitat suits that massive of an animal, or maybe you just don’t know to think about those things. Although some may argue that we learn and teach more than we harm, orcas are not meant for captivity for the gain of entertainment. Those large, beautiful and social animals are meant to have freedom in their own environment.
At least 148 orcas have been taken into captivity from the wild since 1961, now it is 2015 and 126 of those orcas are dead. In the wild male orcas live to an average of 30 years and 46 years for females. There are a lot of options as to if we should captivate whales or keep them in the wild. the pro is to keep them in captivity. We can learn from the whales, we can connect with them, and lastly, they are endangered. The con is to let them free into the wild. They become depressed and die of depression and anxiety and they are dangerous.
The beatles were an astonishing band back in the early nineteen sixties(History.com). Their songs were simple but always touched the hearts of many(History.com). They started off as a garage band and gradually made their way up the musical latter(Beatlemania Sweeps the United States). They opened up for many other singers, but after starring in a short and punchy film called “ A Hard Day's Night” in 1964 they began to be a widely known band playing everywhere(Beatlemania Sweeps the United States) in their home country of liverpool england. Many people will disagree with many beliefs and things the beatles did. some say they supported drugs and others the entire hippie movement(Beatlemania Sweeps the United States). Even after all their hatred the beatles still came out on top(1964: Beatlemania). Beatlemania started in 1963 and ended by the late 60's. Beatlemania affected american history in a positive way because, it introduced british rock

James Madison the fourth president of the United States, and the “Father of the Constitution” ,argues the significance of education and learning as the founding blocks in a true democratic government based on true liberty in his quotes, “What spectacle can be more edifying or more seasonable than that of liberty and learning, each leaning on the other for their mutual and surest support?”; “Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: and a people who mean to be their own governours must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.” In recent years, middle-eastern countries struggle to obtain true democracy is a direct example of Madison’s ideas, by attempting to overthrow the dictatorships that have ruled for decades. Unwilling to dissolve

Without the Beatles, paving the way, leaving such a big impression on Americans, and fueling the fascination for British culture, perhaps it would have been harder for the British invasion to even occur. Beatlemania caused things related to British culture to be a trend, without that important element, there would not really have been such a place for the British invasion. The author talks about how the Beatles were different because up until the end they evolved in new directions, expanding their audience. They were different because they were authentic British musicians, and some of the musicians from the British invasion were American groups that attempted to mimic distinctive aspects of “British style”, whether it be by their outfits, hairstyles, or even a pseudo-English accents. In addition, the Beatles did not stick as close to their roots as other groups did during the British invasion. They experimented so much that at one point their music was essentially
Human history is pock-marked with innumerable wars and revolutions. The cause for most of the revolutions has been the choice of freedom. The opportunity to live a life without physical, mental or emotional restrictions has been and still is of supreme importance to man. This has resulted in the most widely followed discipline of political governance: Democracy.
In American classrooms, many democratic ideals are present. Each classroom may use them in different ways, but they are all around the school system. In each classroom visited during TE-100, democracy was alive. Each school proudly displayed a true democratic atmosphere from the large, diverse hallways of Grand Island Senior High, the colorful, friendly rooms of Holdrege Middle School, or the fun, interactive feel of Kenwood Elementary. In each school, students of all types were all given amazing democratic environments to learn and grow in, and are all in the process of becoming democratic citizens.
Societies run off the power of the people, and some societies use a democracy as a form of power. There are people who say that for a democracy to survive that people do not need to be educated on all subjects, they also believe that asking questions or challenging “long-held ideas” is a waste of time, because no results will be formed by them. Then there are the people that feel that someone needs to be educated just enough to survive and questions or voicing opinions on “long-held ideas” should only be done when it is absolutely mandatory. Finally, there are the people (like me) that disagree with the people above. These people believe that all education is important. They are the people who understand that asking questions and voicing their displeasure with the “long-held ideas” makes the democracy survive. To further expand on democracies surviving people believe that some of the most terrible things came from obedience, but many people including myself believe that disobedience is what causes terrible things while obedience puts a stop to it. A democracy would not exist without education and being able to stand up behind a question or voicing an opinion of displeasure, nor would a democracy survive without obedience. No one would take a stand to allow for the democracy to survive if the nation was disobedient. Through letting people gain knowledge, questioning ideas, and voicing opinions; the democracy has a pulse.
