Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is a fun and exciting healthcare profession that helps people. It is all about helping other people who have problems with their body, muscles, joints and other parts of their body. Patients includes accident victims and individuals with disabling conditions such as low back pain, arthritis, heart disease, fractures, head injuries, and cerebral palsy. Physical therapy will perform an evaluation of your problem or difficulty. They evaluate your problem by performing tests and measures to assess the problem. These tests includes muscle strength, joint motion, sensory and neurological, coordination, balance, observation, palpation, flexibility, postural screening, movement analysis, and special tests are designed for a particular problem. Next, they develop a treatment plan and goals and then manage the appropriate treatment to aid in recovery of a problem or dysfunction. Physical therapists are able to treat their patients by using many different treatments depending on the type of injury. Some of the treatments are electrical stimulation, hot and cold packs, infrared and ultrasound to reduce swelling or relieve pain. These treatments are used to help decrease pain and increase movement and function. Therapeutic exercises instructions will help restore strength, movement, balance, or skill as a guide towards full functional recovery. Physical therapy provides "hands on techniques" like massage or joint mobilizations skills to restore joint motion or increase soft tissue flexibility. They will focus on basic skills such as getting out of bed, walking safely with crutches or a walker, moving specific joints and muscles of the body. Physical therapists treatment includes patient education to teach them how to deal with a current problem and how to prevent the problem in the future. Such documentation is used to track the patient's progress, and identify areas requiring more or less attention. They encourage patients to use their own muscles. Their main goal is to improve how an individual functions at work and home.
Physical therapies do much more of than restore function to traumatize. They work with children with birth defects to overcome to restore movement and independent living. Physical therapy held about one hundred thirty-two thousand jobs in year of two thousand. The number of jobs is greater than a number because of practicing physical therapy become more therapists holds two or more jobs.
Physical therapists can either specialize in specific areas, like paralysis or orthopedics, or they can treat a broad range of needs. Physical therapy is divided into three basic categories: acute care, neuro-rehab, and outpatient physical therapy. I am particularly interested in acute care, which involves treating patients in the hospital setting. Acute care involves treating patients following surgery, restoring patients' physical activity following an accident or illness, and helping patients to overcome disabilities. Teaching home exercises, preparing rehab programs, and explaining how to use assistive devices are the acute care therapist's main jobs. On the other hand, neuro-rehab physical therapists deal with patients who have long-term injuries, such as spinal cord injuries. Finally, outpatient physical therapists are usually self-employed and generally treat patients in the home. ("Information" 7) All three types of physical therapists perform the same general tasks. The goal of physical therapy is to help patien...
As I continued to chat with my pastor that day, I really sensed the hurt in his eyes – the anger that comes from an unsolvable injustice, the tiredness of a problem. “What’s wrong?” I finally asked, “Having a bad day?” Sensing that I was truly concerned, he let the truth be told. “I talked with a woman today whose baby died suddenly of unknown causes. As we worked through her grief, she talked about how numerous friends and family, even a religious leader had patted her on the back, shook their heads and said, ‘It was God’s will.’ I find few things worse to say to a grieving parent. Saying nothing at all would be of more help.” It was obvious from our conversation that he had an understanding greater than I about God’s will, and his insight created in me a curiosity and desire to learn more.
In the short story “Everyday Use” Alice Walker portrays the difference in African American heritage between two sisters. She shows a special emphasis on a handed down tradition from generation to generation. She has two daughters which she loves very much, one who believes value is money and the other who cherishes her family heirlooms. Although the mother is not as wordly as her daughter Dee has become, her instinct in the end to side with her less fortunate daughter is her way of preserving their heritage over superficial cultural misguidance.
Whenever I learned to trust and turn to God, I found His comfort to satisfy my soul. Almost two years ago, one of my best friends became extremely ill and had to leave home and go to a treatment clinic. (For her privacy, I will not say the illness). She had to immediately leave for she was due to die in two weeks if she did not find help. Whenever she told me the news, my whole world flipped upside down. My life had been pretty okay before this, just a few ups and downs. This was the first major trial in my life and I was not prepared. Of course, I prayed for her but I did not grasp the fact that God was going to save her. I was extremely emotionally unstable and I tried to fix myself on my own. This never worked, I may have had temporarily relief but the fear came back. One day I finally gave up trying to fix myself and turned to God. I asked Him to forgive me for not turning to Him first and I allowed him to fix me. I placed my trust in him and ran to him for comfort. Even when it was difficult, I knew I had to trust in Him. Once I placed my faith in Him, my comfort came. I had faith that He would heal her and she will not
The characters in “Everyday Use” by Alice Walker serve as a comparison between how family heritage and traditions are viewed. Walker illustrates that heritage is represented not by the possession of items or how they look, but buy how they are used, how one’s attitude is, and how they go about a daily lifestyle. Every memory or tradition in “Everyday Use” strengthens the separation in the relationship between Dee and her mother, the narrator, which involves different views on their family heritage.
In the story “Everyday Use,” Alice walker uses a family to show how heritage can be perceived in two different ways. In the story there are the characters Mama and Maggie who live in small home and are struggling financially but understand the true meaning and value of their heritage. Then there is Dee who is well educated but struggles to understand the true meaning and value of her heritage because she is embarrassed by it. In “Everyday use,” the education differences, transformation of Dee and the quilts shows the distinction of how one can interpret their heritage.
Jesus is Lord because he reunites all creation to God, but Jesus accomplished this mighty task by coming to be with us in our brokenness.16 I visited a woman in intensive care repeatedly over the entire summer. She had a chronic and likely terminal lung disease, and during every visit she would yell, plead, and bargain with God for healing. On one visit, I ask...
... His promise ever be our watchword: “I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.” Even though we may feel we can go on on our own, we will always need our loving Heavenly Father just as we need our earthly father. He can do anything as long as we have faith in our Saviour Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. He knows what we are going through and knows why we are going through trials. He will never give us more than we can handle, even if it seems like we wont’ make it, turn to Him and he will provide whatever it is we need to push through and endure the the end.
“How can I tell that He cares or hears us while we are suffering or in challenging situation?”
Paranormal experiences can occur anywhere and to anyone and the way a narrator interprets it determines how it affects them. Christopher Brown has an experience with shadow beings that influenced the way that he views graveyards along with his views on the supernatural. Experiences like the following greatly influence a person’s beliefs and emotions. Beliefs are change from the experience or the experience shapes their beliefs. Experiences are also sometimes hard to explain, especially when rational explanations fall short. One simple occurrence like Brown’s demonstrates how much goes into interpreting and understanding these events. It all varies based on how a person relates the experience to their beliefs and how they want to explain it.
Three of them are on the right side of my bed. I try to holler but I can't. I can't move. I'm scared, remembering the pain from the other times. They fly through the ceiling and out the roof, taking me with them. Next thing I'm in their craft, lying on a table, and I'm cold. I'm naked. They're putting something up into my vagina, and I'm scared they'll leave it there. They wear skintight black coveralls. They look like black grasshoppers. No hair, wide jaw. Black eyes, big, halfway between round and oval. Small openings for nostrils. No ears, just foot-long antennae. A thumb and three long pointy fingers. They're cold when they touch me. They talk to one another and I hear them in my mind. They have a damp, musty odor about them. They roll me over and put a burning hot needle along my spine. They aren't saying anything. I can't cry for help. Afterwards I'm floating out of a craft. There are beings with me surrounding me. I'm not scared. I'm back in bed, drifting off to sleep. They're gone. (Gordon, 82).
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night and looking around your dark room only to find a tall black outline of a person standing at the edge of your bed. This is what some individuals experience almost every night, a visit from the infamous beings known as Shadow People. Shadow People are classified as black humanoid figures with no features that observe certain individuals. Paranormal experts and Scientists both have their own speculations on what these figures could be. Paranormal experts believe that these figures are something from the paranormal realm. Theories in the paranormal community range from these figures being angels silently protecting us to a more sinister force in the form of evil entities that have bad intentions. Scientists
Sweetheart, every day is an opportunity. It’s a marvelous, glorious opportunity to worship the God I love, we love, by counting you more significant than me. It’s an opportunity to bring Him glory and honor as we seek to walk hand in hand through life’s journey as He daily chisels us to conformity of Christlikeness. For that, I’m thankful. So as a result of all of my gratitude for God’s faithfulness, here are some things you need to know…
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your mercy, grace and above all ... Your love. Without it we have no hope ... we have no future ... we have no life!
Today's Gospel reading shows us that the Lord is with us through times of trial… or when the storms of life get to be too much to handle. Whether He calms the storm as he did for the disciples, or asks us to let him walk through the storm with us, as Paul talks of in 2 Corinthians, or gives us the strength to fight against it, as He did for David while up against Goliath; he is always with us. He does not ignore the cry of the afflicted.
