a painting that has influenced my view of the world
Select a creative work-a novel, a poem, a musical piece, a painting, or other work of art-that has influenced the way you view the world and the way you view yourself. Discuss the work and its effect on you.
I still remember the first time I saw her. Her jealous beauty staring fervently at me. Her wealth of luscious red hair tamed by a golden clip. The precious face staring lustfully over my shoulder-or perhaps staring at me? Soft pearly-white hands poked through a deep green velvet dress-in one hand a violin, the other a bow. Behind her a brilliant yellow canary rhapsodizes a tune that she pauses to hear.
Her name is Veronica Veronese. She hangs in the Delaware Art Museum but I first saw her in Art & Antiques, a monthly art magazine. The whole painting enthralled me so greatly that I decided to learn more about the artist: Dante Gabriel Rossetti. He belonged to a group called the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood: a group of seven united through their art. Having just read about the superhuman determination and intensity of Michelangelo, these seven were a decided change: they had human faults and error.
As I delved into their world of Victorian romance and poetry I found that everything that happened in their lives happened, not by chance but for a reason. If Lizzie Siddal, Rossetti's wife, had not died at the apex of their long and winding relationship, then he might not have been perpetually inspired to make the extreme beauties that he painted to memorialize her. The model for Veronica Veronese is Alexa Wilding. She, as all the women in his later paintings, looks stunningly similar to Lizzie.
Similarly, in my life, I realized that mistakes happened for a reason. They humbled me, but also gave me a reason not to go do that mistake again: experience. Experience is the best teacher that I've found. Touching a red hot stove is far different than knowing not to touch it. If you do make the mistake of touching it, you'll never again do it-simply because you know the consequences.
After consuming books about the PRB, I realized that I had to know something about art to appreciate it. I found this out when I began looking at works by Egon Schiele, an early twentieth century art who painted what most would call pornography.
Lloyd George's Policies How did Lloyd George become an outdated asset in 1922 from a wartime hero in 1918 in the space of four years? Lloyd George’s own policies and his dependence on the conservatives did play a part in his political decline; however this alone didn’t account for his failure and fall. A range of events, issues and reactions played a pivotal part in his downfall. Before 1918 LG had long been the most dynamic Liberal minister, he injected energy into the Liberal party to show that the party wasn’t doomed to decline. During the war he was made Minister of Munitions, where he was the one undoubted success of the coalition.

Carol S. Dweck, a social psychologist and a writer, explores that people who gain benefits from learning from their mistakes are more likely to develop to maturity. A mistake is a step toward success and if one makes changes and prevents his errors from happening he is a step closer to his success and able to grow up to his mature self. Agreeing with Dweck, by learning from mistakes people are taught through experiences and it helps to deeply imbed the knowledge into them. Therefore, People begin to aware their faults and start off to change themselves into mature person to be able to fit in the adult society. Adulthood is the experience every living person has to encounter. Growing up to maturity means having
Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 – 1652), daughter of a well-known Roman artist, was one of the first women to become recognized in her time for her work.. She was noted for being a genius in the world of art. But because she was displaying a talent thought to be exclusively for men, she was frowned upon. However by the time she turned seventeen she had created one of her best works. One of her more famous paintings was her stunning interpretation of Susanna and the Elders. This was all because of her father. He was an artist himself and he had trained her and introduced her to working artists of Rome, including Michelangelo Merisi da Caravaggio. 1. In an era when women artists were limited to painting portraits, she was the first to paint major historical and religious scenes. After her death, people seemed to forget about her. Her works of art were often mistaken for those of her fathers. An art historian on Artemisia, Mary D. Garrard notes that Artemisia “has suffered a scholarly neglect that is unthinkable for an artist of her caliber.” Renewed and long overdue interest in Artemisia recently has helped to recognize her as a talented renaissance painter and one of the world’s greatest female artists. She played a very important role in the renaissance.

Everyone makes mistakes, yet even the smallest of mistakes can change the entire course of history given a time machine and a Tyrannosaurus Rex. Learn to cherish the life on this Earth, and don’t let poor choices dictate the future ahead. Making the right decision is key to success, and only we can choose what successes we want to
My day started kind of rough, because I and my wife couldn’t agree to manage our diverse schedule. I was scheduled to meet with members of my class in downtown San Diego, and she was scheduled for her event at work. Ultimately, after a brief argument, we utilized two different vehicles heading the same direction. A conflict in timing was the cause of our disagreement. As a result, the day for me started chaotic resulting in no inner peace of mind. I didn’t sense no normal pattern of tranquility in my thoughts. I felt mentally exhausted, anguish and pain at the knowledge I that couldn’t be trusted to go to a museum on my own. I started my day with an attitude of frustration and anger. To make matters worse, I thought I was going to a place where historically I found peace and tranquility in my mind. I was always very fond of art, and believe artist today have the freedom to express themselves with whatever style and methodology they have in life. Contemporary artist have greater freedom and influence than artist in the past, because they can use their artistic works to persuade individuals and help them realize or understand they have psychological or emotional personal problems. I believe art can help identify and expose underlying emotional and personal issues that some would normally be reluctant to share openly. This is my own profound personal self-realization.
The painting can be found at the Washington’s National Art Gallery. Further, this artwork is an important piece of art created during her mature career. Cassatt depicts the young girl alone within a domestic exterior. The informal posture, as well as the evident brushwork, are attributed to impressionism while the asymmetrical structure, the hasty scene cropping, and the shallow space indicate the Japanese art inspirations. Additionally, the young girl seated in an unselfconscious and sprawling manner is a reminder to the viewer of her young age
Artemisia Gentileschi was born in Rome in 1593. Her father, Orazio Gentileschi, was a Tuscan master and a well-known follower of Caravaggio. Through Orazio, Artemisia was taught the skills of painting and shown different styles and techniques where he learned that she was gifted with the brush. She made her first well-known work of art at the age of 17, which was the Susanna and the Elders (Figure 1).
The Tragedy of Othello William Shakespeare’s, The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice, from the sixteenth century is an excellent example of Renaissance humanism. “A poet of unparalleled genius, Shakespeare emerged during the golden age of England under the rule of Elizabeth I.”(Fiero 3:98) He produced comedies, tragedies, romances and histories. According to Webster’s pocket dictionary, a tragedy is defined as a form of drama in which the protagonist comes to a disaster, as through a flaw in character, and in which the ending is usually marked by pity or sorrow. I would like to concentrate on the character Iago and the theme of deceit.
Romeo and Juliet both died, and these deaths were preventable deaths. If these children's families had not hated each other so much, these children would not have died. These children died because of the love they shared, the true love they shared that blinded them of all that was going o around them. Romeo and Juliet is a timeless play written by William Shakespeare that will forever be remembered and preformed because of the sad ending and romantic touch.
Since the beginning of humankind, the study of geography has captured the imagination of the people. In ancient times, geography books extolled tales of distant lands and dreamed of treasures. The ancient Greeks created the word "geography" from the roots "ge" for earth and "grapho" for "to write." These people experienced many adventures and needed a way to explain and communicate the differences between various lands. Today, researchers in the field of geography still focus on people and cultures (cultural geography), and the planet earth (physical geography).
"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don’t know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that moment.
Mistakes are actually a very influential part of a person’s upbringing in life. Mistakes shape a person’s character to make them who they are today. A mistake can teach someone many different life lessons that will better them as a person and make their lives more enjoyable. A person will commit a mistake usually when he or she is distracted. Distraction is the number one cause of mistakes in our world today. Many people are afraid of making mistakes, so they play it safe in life and don’t strive to achieve everything they are capable of achieving. This is a very bad thing. People should not be afraid of the potential mistakes there are to be made. Instead, they should focus more on the great lengths they could go in life by pursuing their goals. Mistakes will happen on life’s journeys,
