A Day That Went Wrong - In French
Achille-Claude Debussy (also known as Debussy) was born in 22 August 1862, he also was a French composer. He also was associated with impressionist music. Debussy is the eldest among five children.
“Before I Came to Paris”, is the first chapter of Gertrude Stein’s novel, The Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas, in which Alice B. Toklas narrates a basic history of her life and the events leading to her departure for Paris. Alice was born in San Francisco, California where her grandfather, a pioneer, had moved to in 1849 and married her grandmother, a music lover. Men of the family participated in Paris battles leaving behind the family for some time, eventually returning as land owners. Alice was not a fan of the violence that her family participated in but rather had hobbies in needlework and gardening. She was also interested in paintings, furniture, tapestry, houses, flowers, vegetables and a view that was not looked at. Alice was the
The tale that will be discussed within Marie de France’s Lais is Guigemar. The tale of Guigemar begins with a knight who demonstrates braveness and valor in service of his lord, but is unable to recognize love in any lady. One day Guigemar was out hunting when he came upon hind, who set a curse upon him. The hind states that if Guigemar is unable to find a woman who is willing to suffer for him equally as much as he would suffer for her, he will die from his wound. There are two major themes within the tale of Guigemar. The first theme is selfless love and the second theme is the suffering related to love. The relationship between love and suffering is the more apparent theme. The idea that there is a relationship between love and suffering
The advantages that these pieces of art have are that they easily communicate to their audience. The ideas come across easy to understand by people who were both literate and nonliterate at the time. They concentrate on representing simple ideas to their audience and distinctly show political perspective. However, on the flip side, they tend to only show one side of an opinion, not both. This doesn’t allow for a person to see both sides and limits them to one opinion. They also only show a vague story and don’t deeply go into the underlying factors of the Revolution.
Throughout history, anti-Semitism has been a reoccurring problem in which the Dreyfus Affair was an important event. The Dreyfus Affair was a political scandal, which divided France from the 1890's to the early 1900's. It was a very important event in history. 1894 marked the start of a revolution for Jewish people, as a French-Jewish artillery officer, Captain Alfred Dreyfus was accused of treason (Isseroff). The accusations against Dreyfus were false all because he was a Jew. Following his accusation Dreyfus accumulated many followers that became known as Dreyfusards and there were also those who were against him called anti-Dreyfusards (Drefler).
December 7th, 1941. This was the date of one of the most important attacks on the United States in the history of America. This was the date of the Japanese attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The attack on the naval base at Pearl Harbor was the last straw that led to the United States joining World War II as part of the Allied Power. The bombing was in reaction to many economic sanctions that were placed on Japan, so the bombing was not just to make the United States mad. We can see many reasons as to why Japan would bomb Pearl Harbor.
Everyone sees the world just a little differently, and perspective can often stand as something which sets people apart. Controversy abounds in the world, and many people do not see eye to eye, especially when cultures clash, as they do in Things Fall Apart, a novel about the African Igbo culture. This novel by Chinua Achebe tells the story of the village Umuofia, a place which stands untouched and unmarred by the hands of Europeans. In the end, the Christian Europeans and the African natives clash, resulting in a changed world for the people of Umuofia. In Things Fall Apart, by Chinua Achebe, the Igbo people are portrayed as civilized in that their way of life seems just to them, but to an outsider, their decisions seem peculiar which is due to the fact that a foreigner does not know the culture as intimately as those who are a part of it, which establishes the importance of perspective and an open mind in viewing other cultures.
Understanding how other cultures believe can help one appreciate his or her own culture even more. In society, there are numerous different beliefs out there in turn causing no two cultures to be alike. For example, the interesting culture of France is very diversified because of the country’s religions, social norms, relationships, and gender roles.
During the 16th century the Americas were being colonized by different European nations. Two of those were England and France. Each came to the Americas for different reasons that would later on affect their relationship with the natives. The French viewed the natives as business and military allies. While the English thought they would be able to coexist with them , but would later on consider them savages, and view them as a threat.
Armande’s refusal of pity may be easily mistaken as a mere manifestation of the old women’s pride, but she requests much more of her listeners when says this line. In this bold scene, her illness has
Critical incident responses affect people in many different ways. No one person can have the same emotional and physical stressors as the other. In my position as a law enforcement officer I deal with many stressful situations on a day-to-day basis. Calls that involve driving with lights and sirens tend to stress me out. The entire time my body is reacting to the sirens, lights, radio, and the computer. Trying to listen to critical information given over the air as well as reading the call notes on the computer as they are being updated, all while trying to safely arrive at the call in one piece. One particular incident that I felt stressed was a domestic violence assault that had a lot of revolving parts to it. I was physically and emotional

The book “Day of Infamy” is overall a decent book to read rather it’s for pleasure or for a reading assignment. But this is a very informative book to read. This book would be interesting to someone who is interested in history in the United States. The book has pictures of the bombing that took place in Hawaii during that time. The author makes this book very descriptive. It’s like the reader is reading a documentary or journal log from different point of views.
