Fans and players are anxiously awaiting the start of the game. The players are jumping and fidgeting around on the court waiting for the referee to blow her whistle to issue the start of the game. The whistle blows and the visiting team serves the ball while fans in the stands are clapping and stomping on the bleachers trying to distract her. The serve is good and Green Bay returns a pass, set, kill and the crowd goes wild. That was just the beginning to a fun filled game. Green Bay served the ball next. It was a low, hard jump serve. It was a long volley filled with powerful hits and awesome teamwork. Green Bay won the volley and scored a point. After that Green Bay scored a couple more points before they had a side out. The Phoenix was hitting so well and they were getting the other team so frustrated the coach took a time-out. During the time-out the crowd was clapping loudly and some of the college students were cheering taunting cheers at the opposing team. The girls came back from the time-out and it was Green Bay's serve. The girl serving didn't let the time-out get to her and she served an ace serve. The ball went back and forth between each team with Youngstown State scoring a few points here and there but Green Bay remained ahead the entire first game and took the first game. The second game was closer than the first. Youngstown State stepped it up a little and made Green Bay work much harder. At one time in the game, Green Bay was behind by two points. The coach took a time-out. When the girls came back on the court the Phoenix girls kept a positive attitude and never gave up. They worked hard and together and regained the lead. The Phoenix got ahead by a few points and the visitors took a time-out. Again the college students cheered taunting cheers. This time one of the guys wearing a green shirt that had the word GO! written largely on the back of his T-shirt ran around the gym, while the group of college students yelled GO repeatedly.
This game was scrappy right from tip-off. Chase Coleman hit a big 3 and from that moment on the game was underway. Everything from both teams was taking place inside the painted area, Green Run seemed to be winning the battle only because they were getting the calls to send them to the free throw line. Maury did not fall far behind as they were only down four points as the quarter ended with a score of 12-8,
The coach gives an inspiring pregame speech and tells them if they work hard no one will beat them. Then public address announcer comes on and say they are about to play the national anthem. Already amazed by the whole moment. After that he begins to take the ice but before that his teammate says good look. He is waiting for the puck drop to him it feels like an eternity but it actually is a matter of seconds. Next thing he knows he is skating down the ice and shoots the puck and hits the post. The crowd all screams in astonishment. He comes off the ice and his team says nice try.The game was still tied at the end of the first period. When he went back into the game he knew the play. He got the puck and moved up ice and passed it in front of the goalkeeper and the center scored. Ryan was rushed with emotions he joined his teammate to celebrate. He got his first assist in the NHL. The buzzer sounded it was the end of the
Tittle, talks...how the winning play came about. “On fourth down, I called a play,” said Tittle, “that sent Joe Arenas, faking into the line, as I would leap a jump pass to Soltau, cutting into the left corner of the end zone. Perry was the trailer just in case trouble developed. But, I fumbled the hand off. Perry saw me drop the ball, as he didn't follow Soltau. Perry ran to my left hollering for me to pitch him the ball. I grabbed it and did what he said. He picked it up and ran around the corner past diving defenders to get our winning score. That was all there was to
Our second baseman, Connor Pennycook, was inexperienced at the time, that game was the first time was his first time playing 2nd base. Anyway, our star catcher felt better and put our old catcher, Jordan (spud) Stutsman, back at 2nd base because Connor Pennycook kept making errors, so his dad and our coach, Chris Pennycook, took him out and put Spud there. When the ball was still getting hit at 2nd, Spud made easy errors. Anyway, the game is now tied. Nik (Big Papi) Lancaster was up in the last inning and had a leadoff double. Then Jackson Williams smacked a game winning walk off double, to win us the game! After the dinger and the game was over, we shook their hands because that’s what we do as culture. Their coach went up to our coach and asked if we’d pray with them around the mound, and we did that because that’s a big part of culture. Religion plays a part in culture to some. Before we prayed, we got 1st place t-shirts and a fat trophy and got together as a team while the parents took pictures, then prayed with the other team. After that, we all went to dinner to munch because we were hungry. Then it was to home to sleep. This story demonstrates culture not only for one team, but by showing how religion can play a part in
The server on the other team once again threw the ball into the air. This time, my teammate sprawled for the ball, and made a perfect pass to me, allowing me to set the ball and have my co-captain smash it to the ground. I looked once again at the faces of my teammates. Things were different now. I knew at once that they knew what I knew. We were the winners of that game. We remembered that at that point, and were assured of it when the referee blew the final whistle after I served an ace on game point.

The anthem was played, and the puck dropped. Cherie struggled to get into position. Five minutes had passed in the game when two players from Acadiana were skating down the ice, with only Nate D. defending Cherie. The player with the puck wound up for a shot and Cherie prepared to defend it, but the player passed and the puck was shot into a wide open net. The crowd roared, the goal horn went off, and it was 1-0 in favor of Acadiana. As is tradition in hockey, the fans began to mock the goalie who has just been scored on, but instead of saying a name they took it way too
Whether you are an avid spectator of football, hockey, basketball, or NASCAR, you have witnessed a fair amount of violence. In the 2013-2014 football season, at least five different college football players broke their leg, and hundreds of other players at the high school, college, and even professional level have injured a plethora of other body parts in a variety of methods. Hockey is considered one of the most violent sports in the world—the players have violent tendencies and generally release their anger on their opponents—and, unsurprisingly to its audience, results in many injuries. While basketball is not considered particularly violent, audiences are thrilled when they witness almost any sort of injury. Last year, University of Louisville guard Kevin Ware’s compound fracture broke through his skin, exposing his broken bone to everyone around him. Several people took videos of the incident and less than a year later, the video has nearly tw...

The players ran out to the middle of the stadium. A smell of hatred and resentment came about in the air. The crowd came unglued from their seats. The sounds of various noisemakers filled the air once again. Parents and grandparents alike came to their feet in the stands. Cars stopped on the street in front of the stadium, as they honked their horns, and cheered for their team of choice. As the two burly men stood in the middle of the field, many thoughts ran through their heads. They both knew someone was going to die, but defeat was out of the question. The official tossed a polished silver quarter into the air. The coin hit the wet grass with a shiny face of George Washington clearly showing. The home team will receive the ball. Both anger infested players shook hands and ran back to their sideline. The fans began to cheer as the players t...

We spent the few hours before the game watching other match-ups as well as laughing while we managed our Fantasy Football teams amidst several abrupt cuts causing some fury and outrage among us. I then checked the time, it was five o’clock, what felt like one hour was actually three. My friends and I walked towards the stadium. The same distinct sound, smell and feeling from the morning felt as if it were amplified by ten. By the time we got outside the stadium. We passed many families, students and officers yet no sight of fans from the opposing team. Once we got into the stadium and found a seat in the boneyard, we waited for the game to start. The stadium in the matter of minutes was filled with a wave of purple dressed fans. I stood in my seat as the video on the video board played the welcoming video to Dowdy-Ficklen stadium. As I stood and watched, goosebumps consumed my body. There I stood, I was in awe at the sound of all the fans cheering as the band
