Winston Churchill once said, “Not to have an adequate Air Force in the present state of the world is to compromise the foundations of national freedom and independence” (Quotes about Everything). In this sense, the military is important to America, especially the Air Force. The Air Force provides security and safety to the people. Military lifestyles are usually not everybody’s first choice in the beginning. Particularly, the U.S. Air Force is not always is not always the first branch that comes to mind when thinking of the future. Most of the time, people come to conclusion of enlisting in any branch of the military because of an uncertainty of their future. “…I had no career or education goals, no plans; it’s just where my path took me” says Sergeant Nicholas Gega, recruiter of the United States Air Force (Gega). The U.S. Air Force offers economic safety and emotional stability.
Many people in the United States are currently unemployed; the rate is actually 9.1 percent (Statistics). That rate was increased approximately one year ago, until recently it has declined. For someone to be considered as unemployed , they either do not obtain a stable job, or they have not been employed for approximately four weeks after being laid off (Characteristics). When people look for jobs, they are desperate for anything that comes their way whether it is a full time, part time or even a job where people get paid under the table. Most of those people looking for stability usually do not look towards the military because of the unknown facts that state how beneficial it can really be for your life. The importance of having economical and emotional stability is reflected in the many branches of the military especially the Air Force.
