Breastfeeding in public continues to be one of the most controversial topics in society today. Its very natural for a mother to nurse a baby and should be viewed as such. But some continue to view this act as disrespectful or as not being courteous to others. I believe the reason some people think this way is because over time breasts have become very sexualized. Breasts are not a sexual organ even though they are viewed as such. Their main purpose is to feed a child/children.

Breastfeeding is one of the healthiest things you can do for you child. But breastfeeding is also great for the mother. This act creates a bond between a mother and a child that is life long. This was VERY interesting. I had never thought of this either. She definitely puts it in perspective but even said I still think that breastfeeding mothers have the right to feed their child (uncovered if they choose) no matter where they are. If a baby is hungry they deserve to eat right then and there!

I stand firm on letting mothers breastfeed in public and having it be a non issue. If you don't like it then don't look. But as Americans we should be thanking and encouraging these mothers who are choosing a healthier lifestyle for themselves and their children. People should not view it as sexual or taboo, and see that its a very natural act and it truly is a beautiful thing.
