Throughout the semester, we have studied a variety of texts. It is very important that students read and get exposed to many different texts. It will help you with jobs and overall relationships that you have with people. Everywhere you go, you will see something you have to read. Whether it’s an advertisement board or letters you receive in the mail. Reading is a major part of life. It is a skill that everyone should contain. Three of my favorite texts that we have studied are Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Pyramus and Thisbe.
Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite texts for several reasons. One reason is because it’s a play. I like to read plays because you get everyone’s opinions and how they view different scenarios. Another reason I liked it is because it is so popular. Everyone knows the title Romeo and Juliet so it was nice actually getting to learn about what the fuss is about. It...
Romeo and Juliet is known through out the world for its heartrending story of two young star-crossed lovers, who had the inability of being united due to the feud between their families. Many films and books, all over the world, have used this famous playwright as an inspiration. As they were inspired, the story of Romeo and Juliet had kept spreading worldwide.
Romeo and Juliet is arguably the most famous story about love in literature. This is in part because of the tension caused by the look the different characters have towards what love means and its role in life. These views were very important for the progression of the story. Their different views collided and caused much grief and sorrow for the characters throughout play. Many important events that propelled the story forward would not have happened without the various feelings towards love the characters have and how they felt of and reacted to the other characters’ view on love.
Romeo and Juliet, written by William Shakespeare, was one of the first plays about romantic love. In Act I of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare demonstrates different forms of love that characters face. Additionally he establishes the characters conflict and emotions towards love. These emotions acknowledge an important matter that is known throughout the world, love. Love is important because it is a universal issue that everyone relates to. Shakespeare cooperates unrequited love, false love, and ill-fated love into Act I to connect different types of audiences. These forms of love create a major theme about romantic love.
On the surface, Romeo & Juliet is a simple tragic love story: boy meets girl, they fall in love, time elapses, things go wrong, and an end is met. But if you ask why was the end met, well there's where you get into the details of the story and the individual aspects of the mostly nondescript characters, in particular Romeo himself. Look into his ridiculously romantic lines, and you'll notice either the flaw in his character, the mistake he made, or the way fate plays with its toys.
The modern literature community recognizes Shakespeare as one of the most brilliant minds in the history of dramatic theatre. His unmatched ability to represent human behavior and emotion makes the love in Romeo and Juliet the driving force behind the play's success. Shakespeare incorporated many different types of love in order to capture the hearts of the Elizabeth Era.
Romeo and Juliet is a timeless tale of lovers who's misfortune and immaturity was a cause of their own destruction. The characters individually show immaturity and together demonstrate how ignorance of the world effects more than just their own lives. Romeo and Juliet, as expressed in the succeeding examples, fall in love quickly as a result of their naivety.
...ay for years, believing it was a play about love, but the way Shakespeare wrote the play it is far from a love story. As Romeo moved from Rosaline to Juliet, for the simple fact that he believed Juliet is more beautiful than Rosaline, gives the perfect example that the play is based on desperation. Juliet says to Romeo, showing her desperation, “Good night, good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow / that I shall say good night till it be morrow” (II ii 188-189). When Romeo and Juliet say they cannot spend another night away from each other, it sets a perfect example of obsession in the play. Even Romeo knows he is anxious to force love when he says, “Th’ exchange of thy love’s faithful vow for mine” (II ii 127).
Romeo and Juliet is a play about two young lovers, whose love was destined for destruction from the beginning because of the hatred between the two families, Montagues and Capulets. Shakespeare juxtaposes the themes of love and hatred. He continuously puts them side by side, and even though they are opposites, when seen together you realise that they are driven from the same thing; passion. Shakespeare uses many different language and dramatic techniques to convey this idea.
To conclude, Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy due to the tragic elements of Romeo’s thoughtlessness, Juliet’s attachment towards Romeo, and the plot’s dramatic turnabout. The play has both main characters tragically take their own lives, but there is much controversy whether it should be considered a tragedy or just a tragic story. Aristotle’s Poetics clearly outline all of the necessary parts to a tragedy, and Romeo and Juliet fill in those requisites. Despite all controversies, the one agreement everybody can come to is Romeo and Juliet is one of the world’s most beloved work of literature.
Romeo and Juliet is a romantic love story about a young lad named Romeo who has fallen in love with Lady Juliet, but is unable to marry her because of a long-lasting family feud. The play ends in the death of both these characters and the reunion of the friendship between the families. Romeo is in love with Juliet, and this is a true, passionate love (unlike the love Paris has for her or the love Romeo had for Rosaline) that nothing can overcome, not even the hatred between their two families that is the reason for the death of their two children. Throughout the play, Shakespeare thoroughly explores the themes of both true love and false love and hatred. Without either of these themes, the play would loose its romantic touch and probably would not be as famous as it is today.

Through this tragic play, Shakespeare illustrates that love requires people to sacrifice many precious things, which can include family, friends, even life.
