Things a Guy Should Do to be Great on His First Date
Being a guy is easy. This is more palpable when it comes to preparing for a date night. Women might loathe the fact that being a guy is completely awesome since he does not have to spend hours at the salon just to get his hair done for a date.
Likewise, most men do not necessarily have to choose from several outfits in order to look good on a date night.
With a good haircut, a mild aftershave, a pair of clean Chuck Taylors, a handsome jacket, and a vintage graphic tee, it is way too easy for any guy to look gorgeous on any given day without having to exert too much effort.
Some Guys Just Need to Keep Calm
Unfortunately, some men do not take advantage of this fact when they go out on a date. There are still guys out there who tend to be too anxious on what to wear and how to act in front of their dates that they end up screwing what should have been a brilliant and fun night.
If you are a first-time dater, and you are worrying on what you should look like and how you should act on your first date, the best piece of advice you should take is to calm down.
Seriously, relax dude. It is just a date. Yes, you have been fantasizing about that crush of yours for years, and you feel that the date is your first and last chance to actually spend time with her.
However, you have to keep in mind that the purpose of the date is to really get to know the woman you are dating to see if she is for keeps.
Assuming that you are not a first-rate douchebag who only pretends to date the ladies to get into their pants, you have nothing to worry about on your first date. If you still think that you need a little help prepping up for one, here is a quick first date guide for you.

...our date to a fancy restaurant or just a simple tavern, remember that unless you are dating the Queen of England, you do not have to be too formal during the first date.
Women do not want to date pretentious little stuffed shirts. They go out on a date with you because they want to know the real you and not the corporate zombie your boss wants you to be.
Be the nice guy who tells interesting and funny stories. However, do not be too casual that you might end up treating your date as if he is one of your best guy buds. Keep it chill and casual, be on your best behavior, and engage in meaningful and fun conversations with her.

There are many types of men in the world, and each type displays a variety of distinguishable characteristics. Women should become aware of these characteristics before considering a prospective mate. The smallest of personal details, from where and how they met (including the first date), the way he walks and talks, the clothes he wears, the career choice he's made, the vacation spots he frequents, or the automobile he drives can offer valuable, meaningful, insightful clues to whether or not a man will ever settle down with anyone. There are two main types of men in the world: the committer and the non-committer.
Do chick flicks give woman unrealistic expectations? The solemn purpose of these movies are to sooth a woman’s soul mainly dealing with love and romance that usually target a female audience. They are typically heavy in emotion and are relationship-based; for example, A Walk to Remember. However, there’s more to it. Woman use romantic movies as a form of catharsis, to give innocent men a break from their emotional girlfriends, and to satisfy a women’s mind by giving them higher, often unrealistic expectations.
Most men think that they look good enough and worry about other things that are more important to them. According to Dave Berry, “Most men, I believe, think of themselves as average-looking.” Dave Barry states that the average man “stops thinking about his appearance and devotes his mind to more critical issues, such as the Super Bowl”. This is true because out of all honesty, men don't really care that much
Does this bit of initial attraction sound familiar? You see him standing across the crowded room. He is standing there drink in one hand and his head slightly cocked to one side listening to conversation. You are thinking how hot and sexy he looks in his pin stripped suit. Then his eyes suddenly meet yours. He smiles and you coyly smile back. He ambles over to where you are standing. As he gets closer you notice that your heart pounds faster, you feel flush, your palms are sweatier, and the butterflies are fluttering. He introduces himself and makes the two of you make small talk. Then, he buys you a drink and more small talk ensues. First rule of thumb, as this small talk occurs remember to relax and be yourself; let nature take its course. Naturally he asks you out and you gracefully accept. Now is the time for some more helpful tips. On the first date, never do these two things. First, keep the mystery going by not telling him everything there is to know about you and don’t ask what he does for a living as it may raise a red flag and he may wonder if you are only interested i...
As stated in “The Lady’s Dressing Room,” dressing up like women do is one of “the charms of womankind” (130). We make ourselves look publically presentable, feel more confident about ourselves because we know we look good, and are able to charm and attract men if we simply but a little effort forward. I don’t consider “trying” for my appearance as giving up or being fake; I consider it a choice I make to feel more confident around people. If 30 minutes, on average, a day is what it takes for that, then that is fine with me. While not all of the ways listed above are ok to use in every single scenario, it is up to the women to decide what the situation calls for, and, furthermore, what makes her happy and comfortable.
what to say. 2/6-2/9 I tried to avoid any situation that I thought I could feel awkward
I understand where Dave Barry’s points and assertions on how women view themselves in a different and perhaps a problematic way. However, I believe there is a fine line between dressing up for someone else and looking good for your own enjoyment. If I wanted to dress up and look good, I wouldn’t be doing it for another person or to ‘fish for some man’s compliments’. I would be dressing up because I felt good on that day and my outfit should demonstrate that. Additionally, perhaps the reason many women, and some men, like to pay close attention to the way they look is due to fear of being judged and outcasted from our functional society. This fear can be demonstrated by several movies and even comments by celebrities on social media. For instance,
During the early 20th Century, courtship began to take place outside of the home, and although the strict formalities of the dating game were generally loosened, many new conventions were impose...
Another form of prevention is a specific plan. Know what’s on the itinerary, where one will be going, what kind of place it is, and inform others of possible whereabouts. This way a female for example does not find themselves in a situation that could be potentially harmful. The advantage to this is that if the date has any ideas about using date rape as a romance technique, he will see awareness and intelligence and perhaps think twice about the crime about to be committed. A disadvantage, as in any other situation, sometimes a woman with enough self esteem to protect herself, is intimidating to some men. One may find it harder to achieve a second date.
Most of the articles are about how to build up certain muscles, how to ‘please your partner,’ and how to ‘be a better man’ (according to them). Although men are not as vocal about being under pressure to look a certain way, they most certainly are, to the same extent as women. Women are supposed to be tan, skinny, and muscular; men are under pressure to look the same way. And even though most feminists will say that men are the ones that pressure women to look that way, the same can be said for women. Women want what they see in the magazines, not a scrawny, super pale, nerds. Society wants the impossible: perfection.
So when someone first starts to date hopefully they realize that there are many things that they should and should not do. Through my research I have found out that there are way more things someone shouldn’t do on their first date than things that they should do. Out of the five suggestions, I have chosen to give three things that they should not do. The first one that I chose out of my research was do not try to act too shy. Being shy can be a really bad thing, it can make them not do something that they really wanted to do. Also being shy can lead to very embarrassing awkward silences which won’t lead to another date. But if she talks a lot then maybe she won’t realize that someone is a shy guy and they will have time to get used to being with her and hopefully break out of their shy phase with her. My second, thing someone shouldn’t do would be that they should never be the person who is always needy, lonely or even be too clingy. Everyone is needy, well unless they have someo...
Hands are sweaty, heart is racing, and the feeling of light-headedness is present: these are all symptoms of the classic first date. The average human typically dreads first dates. There are many different first dates someone will go on, however. First, there is the Job Interview; this date is where the person on the date is pounded with questions. Next, there is the Over the Top, Time to Bop; this usually results in the person returning home slightly creeped out. There is also the Fairytale, which leaves the person feeling as though they are living in a romance movie. Lastly, there is the Talk or Walk; this date, no matter how fun the activity of the date is, is just silence. As any person in the dating realm can see, first dates
Traditional Dating has changed over the years. In my generation the girls can ask the guys, there is no telling where they might go on a date, or they might just hang out at home, which did not happen as much 25 years ago. My generation's moral values are changing too: sex on the first date happens more frequently now. Many Years ago a guy would go pick the girl up at her house, was introduced to her parents and have a talk with them before taking their little girl out for a first date. Now, however, guys and girls meet somewhere or the guy just beeps the horn and in many cases the parents do not meet the guy with whom their daughter is going out. When my parents were young, dating was something taken seriously, and knew someone for a period of time before ever asking her out on a date. Today a date may be just something to do for fun or if you are bored. Nowadays many people "hook-up" at bar, clubs or random parties. : I wonder what changes are to be in the future of dating.
Online dating also gives you more choices for a potential significant other. If you go out to a ...
According to Steve Harvey "Real man do what they have to do to make that a woman is taken care of and if they 're doing anything thing less than that, they 're not a man". He goes further by saying "I know that you and your girls have been told for years that you just don 't pass up any opportunities when a man walks your way because he could be 'the one '." Women who have issues with aggression loose all power when it comes to knowing when you deserve better, women become skeptical in moving forward because they are afraid of loosing the situation they are in. Meaning they get caught up in high infatuation to the point where they are willing to take on the job of a male in being the aggressor. In addition to the subject the main objective of women asking men out is to learn that as women you are made to be chased, not to chase after men. Women are intellectuals and they are fully aware of their intentions prior executing their plans to snag the perfect catch. However, men are equally as alert when it comes to the quest for true love. Where there is nothing wrong with giving a man a preview of what he could have, indeed, the objective should be leaving a lasting first impression so memorable that he will make him want to continue a courtship with him being the hunter. The presumption is that he will want to go all out to make you a permanent fixture in his life especially because all of your moral characteristics are safely intact. Setting boundaries early on with prove effective in the long run, hence the need to keep the traditional roles of dating and chilvary providing a mutual respect for each others genders roles. Some say that dating and chilvary are behaviors that are now outdate. Some believe that we are in the age of 'hook-ups ' and 'try it before you buy it ' is the attitude of most who are emerced in the dating world. In either case it safe
