The book entitled, The Process of Writing: Composing through Critical Thinking, by Roberta Allen and Marcia Mascolini, taught you everything from thinking before you write to putting things together, all the way to how to prepare specific forms of essays. It's definitely something you should read before even thinking about another paper.
First of all, before you can write and actual paper, you must first go through certain steps in order to prepare the essay, and then when the time comes you can write your essay with ease and add detail. When you have a clear head you can write so much easier, although it is hard to obtain that mind set. Getting your thought down on paper without worrying about the perfection and detail helps the whole writing process and analysis. The first thing to do before even starting to brainstorm is to figure out whom your audience is, who are you aiming the paper to? You need to make your message meaningful to your audience, and make sure you think about what the audience needs, expectations, knowledge, and attitudes towards your subject are. Anticipate their questions and how they will respond to your answers. Some key ideas to think about when assessing your audience are to think of the primary and secondary readers are. In conclusion, this book was amazingly informative and very helpful. It is definitely something that every student should read before writing another paper. It lays out the dos and don'ts of the writing process; it is great way to improve your technique. This book went all the way from showing you exactly how to write certain types of papers, such as long messages and memos all the way to compare and contrast papers, to showing you how to write in detail with all papers. This book is definitely something that I would recommend to future students. Especially in business classes, or any writing classes for that matter. Writing is a huge part of communication, and this book helped with the fundamentals that many people lack but are essential in the long run.
When writing a five paragraph essay, there are five steps one must fallow in order to attain perfection, these steps include understanding the question, brainstorming, writing a rough copy, revising, and creating a final draft. The first and most important step is understanding the topic. The topic of the essay is what the essay will be about and if this is misunderstood, the whole essay will be off course. The second step, brainstorming, will help organize thoughts and ideas so they flow amiably. There are many different ways to brainstorm, some of the most helpful are making a web of ideas, making a list of ideas, or creating a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the conviction. All these ideas will be related to the topic at hand. Overall, this well-written book was easy to read and understand. The more I read the book, the less I didn’t want to put it down. It was strategic in form and quotes from others often highlighted the previous material talked about. This book also reminds me that, dependent on what type of book you are writing, sometimes it’s ideal to get help from others as well as use other individuals insights alongside your material.
“Draft NO. 4” by John McPhee, issued April 29, 2016, explains tips and strategies a writer can use to become the best of their ability and how drafts help strengthen a paper. He interprets how great writers have difficulties writing and not to be discouraged by the struggles that comes along with writing. He is writing to anyone who is a writer, whether they portray that image or not. McPhee is very informative in “Draft NO. 4” and has glimps of humor, also. In “Draft NO. 4”, McPhee explains tips such as writing with confidence, accumulating experience, drawing boxes around different words, and using dictionaries when writing a well-written paper. I agree with these points because they will help not only novice writers but also the most experienced

Being able to write an exceptionally good paper is important to me in keeping my “A” for English class. There are so many resources available that can help in identifying and improving our weakest skill areas so we can write a properly structured paper. I was able to find many helpful resources that have helped to improve my skill areas in achieving unity in a paper, improving grammatical errors and expanding my vocabulary, and writing a rhetorical analysis,. Many of my resources come from the internet and some came from our textbook, “The Little Seagull.” These resources have been very beneficial to me and have helped me to better understand the mechanics of a well written paper.

Writing is not easy for me. There are various ways writers can evaluate their techniques applied in writing. The genre of writing about writing can be approached in various ways – from a process paper to sharing personal experience. The elements that go into this specific genre include answers to the five most important questions who, what, where, and why they write. Anne Lamott, Junot Diaz, Kent Haruf, and Susan Sontag discuss these ideas in their individual investigations. These authors create different experiences for the reader, but these same themes emerge: fears of failing, personal feelings toward writing, and most importantly personal insight on the importance of writing and what works and does not work in their writing procedures.
When reading "Teaching Thinking by Teaching Writing" by Peter Elbow, I discovered many of the ideas he favors is how I start off my writing for most writing assignments. I tend to free-write when getting out of my thoughts without being interrupted by any outsider looking in or sources to result to. Then once I 'm done, if the assignment requires sources or I just feel I need another opinion and feel I 've been looking for extra help such as needing sources to include within my writing. I feel my best writing comes from me when I free writing first. I realized what I have been practicing for many writing projects is called first order thinking, then I later apply a second order thinking for the correctness.
For AIX160, which is called Introduction To University Study. That means based on this unit, we can learn different strategies to improve our learning skills. For example, on week 1, the lecturer taught us how to management the time, and how to listening/note-taking from the power point. And on week 2, there are some librarians taught us how to using the library database to search the key information then can write the essay or report, there are also have another different strategies in this unit, however, there are three important strategies are very important as my future’s learning skills, which includes time management, elevation information and critical thinking.
When trying to define critical thinking you might run into some challenges along the way. Critical thinking is a widely used yet vague term that is practiced by different people in a variety of locations throughout the world. Critical thinking is a strong virtue for the majority and the worst enemy for others. Needless to say without critical thinking we would be nowhere close to where we are today pertaining to our technological and social endeavors.
Writing is a process that takes multiple steps. Starting with brainstorming and finding a topic, then organizing the idea into an outline. Outlining is an important step as this is where you generally form your thesis statement. This tells the reader generally what your essay will be about. From that point forward forming a thesis statement as one of the first challenges in getting started helps in making a strong path to follow. This makes it easier to put your ideas from the outline into writing a rough draft. Once you have a first draft, proofread and edit to make a final, polished essay. Refreshing this process has helped me greatly in improving my personal writing.
Reading other works and broadening vocabulary can improve my writing skills (Bethel University. 2014). Over time, my writing will emulate the works of those I have read. Another way I can improve my writing strategy is to read my paper out loud to hear how the words flow. If a phrase does not sound right when it is read out loud, it should probably be rewritten (Bethel University. 2014). Also, it is important to take constructive criticism from people who read my paper, especially the opinions of the instructors (Bethel University. 2014). When specific issues are pointed out to me, I know where to focus my attention when trying to improve.

I decided I was going to take English 1113 my junior year. I was worried that I was going to struggle writing college level papers because writing has never been my strong suit. I soon realized that it would not be as difficult because my professor gave me feedback on my rough drafts, so I would know what to improve in my paper. I knew before I even started writing my first paper that I would struggle with many aspects of writing, but I realized very quickly that I would struggle with common usage the most. I started off English 1113 struggling with comma errors throughout my papers, but through the course I have become more efficient with my writing, as well as improving my comma usage.
Taking a creative writing class was a good way for me to express my thoughts and feelings onto paper, as well as read my other classmates stories. Reading stories created by other people lead me into their mind brain to experience what type of writer they were, it was an overall exquisite class. I believe that every person has a way of expressing who they are through writing stories of their own, fiction is the best way to express your creative imagination. This class that I took for two years helped me become a better writer and helped me understand the types of writers we have.
