The Future Car To this day I still remember the first time I saw an electric car. I remember coming home to my mother and telling her that I saw a car that runs on no gas. My mom, being the classic uneducated woman looks at me and said “what movie did you get that from”, I laughed as I searched it on my phone, and showed her the different models of electric cars. Soon after my mother was telling everybody how she would love to have the new sleek, trendy modern electric car “The Tesla”. Ever since the day I laid my eyes on that car, I sincerely found my fascination with electric cars. Electric cars are truly the best cars ever created! To begin with, electrical cars don’t need gas to operate. Furthermore, Electrical cars are safer, they don’t …show more content…
Dreadful runs to the gas station before rushing to work can be irritating. When you are running late, just imagine that you could just simply connect your car to the charger at night like you do with your phone. In the morning, your car would be completely charged and ready for a full day of chores, without the need to experience the outrageous gas price changes. Imagine never having to remove your PJs to visit a gas station to fill up, that sounds great I bet. Instead of getting up to waste your money on gas, just place it towards your car …show more content…
The reason is that gas is one of the most flammable liquids on the planet, besides a simple change in your car preference can change the amount of fatal car crashes caused by two cars colliding and catching fire. Even more importantly than statistics is that there will no longer be massive gas station explosions caused by crashes into the pumps. The batteries in electric cars tend to not be explosive, as for gas cars because of the gas it lights up a fire in seconds. Electrical cars help not only humans, but as well as your home planet, by having an electric car there will be a decrease in the volume of gases into the atmosphere. Some smart cars require the smallest number of gas, but even this amount would still increase the amount of toxins being transmitted into the atmosphere, that’s why fully electric are better. With this cutting edge car, there will be no need for oil changes to lubricate the engine. Meaning that there will no longer be a need for busy individuals to take time to schedule an appointment for their car to be serviced. We must take a step forward and help our planet to become a cleaner environment for
The 1996 documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? explores the factors behind the demise of General Motors’ EV1, the popular and elusive electric car of the early 1990’s. The EVI was popular with the public, and it was clean, fast and efficient. This video sets out to solve what is effectively a murder mystery – the plug was pulled on the EV1 in 2002 after only 1,000 of these cars had been produced by GM, most of which were subsequently destroyed by the company in a secret location in the Arizona desert.
Depends on Where You Plug In” Paul Stenquist (2012) explains that the dangerousness of electric cars on the environment relies on where the electricity that people use to charge their cars comes from. The author reports that the amount of greenhouse gases -carbon dioxide- produced from charging the car 's battery can have effect on variation of the climate. Moreover, Stenquist states that the impact of electric vehicles on the environment depends on the amount of the greenhouse gases released from the car into the air, which varies with the source of the electricity that charges the car. Further, The U.C.S report demonstrates that there are possibilities for the electric cars to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in places where the electric utility counts on natural gas, nuclear, hydroelectric or renewable sources to run its dynamo. On the other hand, places where the dynamo powered by burning coal, electric cars might not be as good as gasoline cars for the atmosphere. In other words, the author says that places that has immaculate electricity sources might produce less greenhouse gas emission than today’s gasoline engine vehicles. However, the author mentions that gas-powered cars are getting cleaner and better, and electric cars will become cleaner if the electricity for charging the cars cames from natural and renewable sources. Indeed, Stenquist believes that the automotive industry must deliver applicable alternative to the oil-fueled internal- combustion, which is producing vehicles which boasts less emissions (Stenquist,
Did you know that you can receive a maximum of a $7,500 tax credit for just owning an electric or hybrid vehicle? The United States government values citizens that buy fuel efficient vehicles because it gets the United States one step closer to not buying outsourced oil (Jones par.14). Hybrid vehicles are vehicles that are mostly powered by gasoline, but switch over to electric at stop signs or at coasting speeds. Electric cars are cars that are solely powered by electric from start up to shut down (Motavalli par. 6). Most cars and trucks on the road today are powered by gasoline or diesel engines, which are expensive to operate, bad for the environment, and use resources that are non renewable. To achieve better fuel economy, lower operation cost, reduce the pollution on the environment, and operate vehicles with renewable resources, this world needs to take a better look at using alternative fuels to power vehicles. Alternative fuels for motor vehicles are better for the environment, are renewable resource, and are cheaper for consumers.
It appeared on the moon, the three lunar rovers electric vehicles left behind by Apollo astronauts. This electric vehicle bought up a vision to the big three car companies. The electric vehicle 1 created by automaker General Motors in 1996, but it didn’t work out because of the car so expensive and low mileages. By the twenty-first century, Toyota released their new model-Prius in 1997. Toyota prius is a hybrid electric car power by a small engine and an electric battery. As science and technology develop, the motor company of Tesla introduced the new model of model s in 2010. According to Thomas Riggs (2016), the author of Electric Car, “The all-electric luxury sports car runs entirely on a battery-powered electric drive system, can last up to 200 miles (322 kilometers) on one charge, and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour (0 to 97 kilometers per hour) in 3.7 seconds.” (p.153). This successful electric car built by Tesla has proved that a new age of electric car is coming.
I bet you didn't know that the first cars made were all mostly electric. But as time passed gas powered cars became more popular through the years. There were few if any electric cars available as timed moved on. Everyone believed that gas powered vehicles were more convenient than the electric powered ones. I believe that gas powered vehicles are better because gas powered cars have more function ability. The range that electric vehicles have is poor compared to gas vehicles. Electric vehicles don't function very well when the weather is cold. You'll need to charge your car pretty much every night. You are only going to be able to go 80 mph. If you go up a big hill your range goes down. electric vehicles (rather ev's) do pollute but they don't pollute the same way that gas cars pollute.
“The American consumer is wedded to his automobile in its present form as he is to no other product” (Orr, 1967, p. 51). Citizens in every country around the world depend vehicles to provide essentials and luxuries in a carefully choreographed, just in time, economic infrastructure that is powered by one thing, petroleum. Currently, consumers can refuel their gasoline vehicles in a matter of minutes and drive anywhere they want for as long as they want with little concern about their next fuel stop. In 2009, transportation accounted for 72% of U.S. petroleum consumption meeting 94% of transportatio...
The future American commuter will undoubtedly have to transition from the use of fossil fuels to new alternatives due to the diminishing availability of the nation’s oil resources. How will America respond to this upcoming issue? It is difficult to predict which alternative fuel source America will ultimately choose, but with the premier of Nissan’s electric powered Leaf and other companies; such as Tesla Motors and Chevy, with their electric cars ready for market, the electric car may be winning the race to become the new standard for the gasoline alternative. Electric cars resolve long standing environmental issues, but it will need to maneuver around many roadblocks to become a marketable consideration for the general public. The cost of electric cars, currently on the market, makes them an impractical purchase for the average consumer. If cost is not the growing concern in today’s economy which prevents the consumer from considering this option; they may deny the technological advance due to battery storage capabilities and the inadequate infrastructure in place to refuel and provide for them.
The substantial increase in the demand for EV’s came just in time as we are slowly but surely running out of oil. Some estimate that by the year 2040, 35 percent of all vehicles will be electric (Sullins, 2017). An article from the U.S. Department of Energy stated that “Electric vehicles hold a lot of potential for helping the U.S. create a more sustainable future. If the U.S. transitioned all the light-duty vehicles to hybrids or plug-in electric vehicles, we could reduce our dependence on foreign oil by 30-60 percent, while lowering the carbon pollution from the transportation sector by as much as 20 percent (energy.gov, 2014). It’s obvious that gas-powered vehicles have harmed our planet with their emissions. Although EV’s cannot reverse that damage that has been done, they can eliminate, or at least slow down, the inevitable demise that our planet is headed towards. Along with the beneficial environmental factors that correspond with electric cars, there are also beneficial financial factors. The average American spends about $2,000 on gas annually. In the future, charging stations will charge roughly $12.00 for a full charge, which is about 300 miles. This means that the average American will save about $1,400 per year on these specific car
With a gasoline-fueled vehicle, buying gas to operate your car is a never-ending process. With the high price change of gasoline and oil, operating a gasoline-fueled vehicle tends to be very costly. While there are some types of small gasoline vehicles that get much better gas mileage than larger vehicles, even the most powerful gasoline cars will normally desire a contribution every month. According to some experts the only way a mainstream market for green vehicles wills materlize is with a pronounced and prolonged rise in fuel prices. (Buss, 4)
Electric cars are becoming increasingly more necessary, and have more advantages than disadvantages. Electric cars help to decrease the noise, pollution as they are much quieter. They do not emit any (or much less) carbon emission than petrol cars. Electric vehicles are the greenest mode of transport in the personal transportation industry. For each litre of fuel used in an engine produces more than 2.5kg of CO2. CO2 will be produced by an electric car but still a very little amount. It is also possible to use renewable power or a green energy supplier in the electric car. Thus it would lead to less polluted and safe working environment for all of us. However, safety is a big concern with using vehicles. The fluids in the batteries actually take impact better than a fully made gas car because it is not that flammable. Petrol cars and diesel cars are more flammable than electric cars so they are greater of taking impact in the event of an accident. I think that this is a very good reason because fewer people would get injured or hurt. This would save money because electricity is cheaper than gas and electric cars are easy to operate. Also is very ECO –friendly which mean that it is cheaper to run and have to pay very little road tax. In a pure electric vehicle there’s nothing combustible and have far fewer moving parts than you would find in a petrol or diesel car.
In the Great Electric Car story, it talks about how the Electric Car was invented and how it was first used in the past. The Great Electric Car gives important history about how The Great Electric Cars are used and what made them one of the greatest cars ever invented in America today.
There is no question that pollution from automobiles is a major problem in industrialized countries and is increasing in developing nations. And the number of cars is increasingly rapidly: in the United States, the automobile population has increased 6X faster than the human population and 2X faster than the number of new drivers (Motavelli, 2000). At the same time, the average fuel economy of the 2001 fleet decreased to 20.4 miles per gallon, the same it was in 1980. This decrease is fueled by the growing trend in inefficient SUVs. As over 50% of the USA’s oil comes from overseas, the dangerous level of waste promoted by inefficient vehicles makes this more than simply an environmental issue.
The health effects of carbon dioxide are clear, so the question is, why haven't we switched to electric cars? From the documentary that we watched Monday, it seems that there are multiple factors that contribute to this. General Motors designed the EV1, and then slowly took it off the market. It vaguely explained this by showing how oil companies were trying to ban charging stations. Electric cars seem to be the obvious alternative to convert to, and yet we haven't yet. I think that hybrid vehicles are a viable option, as for completely electric vehicles, I'm still a skeptic.
having a private electric cars is no longer a dream. But do all people know the good things and
...s a sense of assurance and confidence that even if their cars are low on battery power, they will have the chance to charge them and keep on going. Right now, a full charge takes a long time, but as technology evolves that charging time will most likely be shortened to a much more reasonable time.
