Technology plays a very important role in today’s society. Everyone has a smart phone and we crave the latest and greatest televisions, computers, cell phones and tablets. Some of these include iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Samsung Smart TVs, Samsung Smart watches and the new Google Glass. More and more schools are using technology in their teaching methods including our own one-to-one program at Oxon Hill High School where each student received a Samsung Google Chromebook. Technology should be used in school’s curriculum and instruction because of improved communication, innovations to come and convenience to both the students and the teachers.
Technology has improved how we communicate with one another and opens many doors for us. In ancient times people had to directly take a message somewhere, which could take days, weeks, or even years. Today, a person can send a message that would arrive in less than 10 seconds, whether it be via e-mail or text message. Source B by Kevin Delaney discusses how teachers are impressed by the new use of technology in their classroom. They are able to let children learn foreign languages online, use technology to analyze data and new gadgets to collect that data. Some people such as Tim Wilson, a technology-integration specialist at Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota and Angel Boligan, a Mexican political cartoonist feel that technology is breaking and weakening communication between youth and the outside world. Wilson brings up the question in Source B “how do we communicate with students today who have grown up with technology from the beginning?” and Boligan in Source F also raises a similar question with his cartoon, asking how can children connect to the outside world if they are so d...

The author of Source E feels that because students are not already exposed to some of the things we do not deserve or have the mental capacity to learn. On the opposition he says that students do not deserve technology because we have short attention spans. With some of my peers this is true but with those of us that want to learn the internet is a massively powerful tool.
From personal experience technology has improved the way I learn and has made it easier to students to collaborate with each other in order to improve our learning. To conclude, technology should be used in school’s curriculum and instruction because of improved communication, innovations to come and convenience to both the students and the teachers.
