Think about your life without technology; no cellphones, no computers, and no Internet. Life without technology is not a convenient life. Without technology we would not have the access to the world we have today because it provides us with better communication, medicine, and safety. Many people would disagree with this and argue that technology can affect our communication skills and that texting and driving causes many deaths. However, the positive outcomes that technology provides us with, outweighs the minor negative issues that can be easily avoided.

Looking at the advances in medicine is astounding. The average life span of a person in the 1800s was about 40, and is now around 80. When someone is having a heart attack, the only option that was available was chest compressions. Doctors soon figured out that the use of electric shock could save many more people than just chest compressions. With even more advances in technology, someone having a heart attack while waiting for the ambulance can be saved with an AED. The patches needed can help figure out if a shock is needed and if it is how many volts are needed. After someone has a heart attack their heart rate needs to be monitored constantly. This is where heart monitors come in handy. Without technology there would be no heart monitors. Taking a pulse by hand will never be as accurate as a monitor would be. People who have many heart attacks would never survive without a new heart. Technology has allowed for people who have died to donate their heart and give it to people who are in desperate need. It has also allowed us to completely remove someone’s heart out of his or her chest and put in a new one, like its nothing. It has given so many people another chance. Doctors and technology working together have provided people with a life that they never though possible. Walk into a bank and look at all the security cameras around. The security systems go behind the counter and around the building. You can notice the 9-1-1 call buttons; some may even have an armed security guard standing at the door. Now put yourself in the place of a teller. A strange man walks up and holds a gun and tells them to give them all the money out of the register. The teller would than press the button to send a signal to the police that they are being robbed. In minutes, there are police there that are either catching the guy or asking many questions, or asking for the security tapes. From these tapes they can even get an identity of the robber. Imagine not having technology in these situations. Without cameras and police buttons, how would the police know to get there? The robber may have even shot someone knowing that they are not on camera. Having this technology allows the workers to feel safer even in a situation that is not so
