Team Communication Abstract Having a team is harder than working alone. Every member of their own way on how they understand when people are communicating and how they communicate with others. Observing different types of teams, whether its football or in a business atmosphere, they all have the same sort of habits that make them successful. Small things such as, leadership, trust, and how you communicate are key components of many team successes. Team Communication: Keys to a Successful Team In Influence of Covey Habit Training on Teams, it states, “Learning and applying approaches that improve individual and interpersonal approaches that improve individual and interpersonal skills should facilitate processes that lead to project completion: team communication, information sharing, problem solving, and activity coordination. That seems to be the consensus of investigators who studied ways of improving the effectiveness of project teams.” (Folse, p. 1) Communication within a group in society today is a skill that can enhance the habits of a successful team. When individuals decided to work as a team, it is no longer about that one person it becomes about several individuals acting as one. Team members must fully understand the common goal of the group and also must understand their individual role as a team. Once each member realizes that the work they do individually still affect the group that is the first habit acquired towards a successful team. Do you have a second? Sometimes that’s how long it takes to lose communication with a team. Understanding the importance of each member of a team and their roles can lead to great accomplishments. Team members have many roles to fill, whether it is resolving a conflict, knowing when it’s important to step up when a leader is needed, or finding improvement among the team. Goals can be accomplished through successful communication and team work.

Everyone has worked in teams at some point in their lifetime. Within those teams communication is crucial between all members, weather that is two people on a sports team or two managers on corporate office. Workers now days spend a significant amount of time in team settings, and team communication has become an intricate part of the workplace. Team communication skills are very important in the workplace today, because with international business continually increasing, the need for effective communication to meet global demands is growing. Effective communication in the workplace helps employees and managers to form highly efficient teams, and effective workplace communication is important in companies with workplace diversity.
In general, to overcome most of these issues, team based approaches, as Swanepoel (2008) argues, require more effort and resources to be dedicated to, among others, communication and development of shared mindsets about the goals and norms of the team. Additionally, emphasis must be placed on training and retraining in technical skills pertaining work and also in social skills revolving around working and operating as a team.
In conclusion, we feel as if we built trust in our team. Seeing as how we’re leaders in our own way, we each created a culture of trust among ourselves. Once we got to know each other personally and shared some personal information about ourselves, our families, hobbies, and other interests, that’s when we started to develop a bond and all the trust built up between us. And this paper assessed our group’s 3-5 major strengths and weaknesses and what successful strategies we hope to add to our team to build a more effective team in the future. Thank you for reading.
As I look back on my communication class, I feel I was not only having a wonderful and funny class during the whole semester, but also harvested many necessary communication and cooperation skills in each group projects. In the beginning of the semester, I wrote my first evaluation to appraise myself by the nine core small group communication competencies. After 12 weeks, I thought I got some improvements in some aspects. In the following paragraph I will discuss each of the competencies to analysis my effort of becoming an effective team member.
Working in teams provides an opportunity for individuals to come together and establish a rapport towards others within a group. Teamwork is classified as people with different strengths and skills who work together to achieve a common goal. When a team works well, specific objectives are fulfilled and satisfied. Teamwork plays a crucial role in implementing and fulfilling a common goal in a team project. Each member plays a role and takes on different responsibilities combined together. In different stages of teamwork, conflicts and arguments may occur for as members have different standpoints which need to be harmonized within the team. I personally think that teamwork and communication are very important during CA1, CA2 and CA3. We need to cooperate well, discuss amiably with one another to find a suitable solution for some of the challenges or obstacles faced in the process of accomplishing the task assigned to us by our teacher. One such example would be the games for our CA1, the aim of our first game was to score a ball into the bins which are of different colors and entitled us to different score. Our initial plan was to score the ball into the bins which will enable us to attain a higher score. When it was my turn to toss the balls into the bin, I was feeling really anxious at that moment. I wanted to successfully toss the ball into the bin which will entitle us a better score so that my group and I will get better grades for our CA1. However, after throwing one out of the three balls, I realized it was harder than expected. Effective teamwork can be challenging and at times can be a struggle between leaders and team members. However, taking into consideration the theories and communication skills we discussed can help team members and leaders become more functional. It is important to influence each other by sharing our experiences and useful information throughout the team. Adopting a “we, instead of, me” approach and respecting each other’s differences can take you, and the team as a whole, a long way. After all, this is all for the sake of accomplishing shared goals successfully.

After reading thought the Essential Qualities of a Team Player, I found that communicate is the most important tool team players can have. Throughout communication, the other 16 essential qualities will eventually tie in with communication. When doing team work, it is about everyone working together as a team. Once the group realize they can communicate with each other, they will even form a bond with one another. Working in a group, communication is important because the group member can share ideas with each other.
Communication is one of the most essential teamwork behaviors and is required throughout the entire lifecycle of the team for all team functioning. In the early stages of team development, individuals do not know one another, but will approach other members and will begin building social relationships (need cite). Through communication, interactions between team members will evolve into more developed social relationships. For cohesion to begin development, these interactions are necessary. Every interaction contains communication, providing the pivotal link to cohesion. The directionality of this relationship, whether that be positive or negative, will depend on the context of the communication. This communication will continue to influence cohesion development within teams over time. Previous research has indicated a positive relationship existing between the amount of communication and cohesion within teams (e.g., Carron, 1988; Widmeyer & Williams, 1991).
