As a general overview, this paper will cover the challenges of the Accounting Department at the City of Menlo Park. The interest of this short essay or paper lies in the interest on the impact of my future career goals and other personal plans. In my career as an Accountant in a private sector, I worked for many different companies. The difficulty and usual economic instability of private sector had my career goals on a stand-by and merits based on hard-work is often found unrecognizable. Finding a steady job in the competitive private sector was difficult and unrewarding. Therefore, I turned to the public or government workplace to see if I can set my path there. At first, I was indifferent to the type of environment public sector offers, but I quickly changed my perspective as soon as I was offered a job to work for the City of Menlo Park.
Through the process of writing this essay, I am hoping to be able to diagnose and identify the issues that exist in my work place. I am looking to find the causes of the existing challenges that we are currently going through. If I can find the root cause of the issues, I would like to make an effort to improve the working conditions in our department and maybe it’s contagious enough to affect other department. I am very optimistic that this project can help me prepare an action plan to resolve some of the issues which exist in my job. I would really like to create a long term positive outlook in the organization where I hope to end my career in.

Persuading others of your vision requires knowledge and a clear strategy (Business Dictionary). Leadership is a natural quality that comes up as responsibility in exchange of having followers with, in return, the followers creating a leader. Concluding that leadership in general cannot be taught, as per the Trait Theory, we argue that it is different characteristics in different situations that result in good leadership. The Trait Theory points out that there is a certain type of person making a good leader, with the decisive factor being: having or not having distinctive qualities of being a leader. As a project team leader with an ever growing and dynamic project base, which often has four or five projects running simultaneously, this project leader has recognized the need for an authentic leadership vision that inspires others within the organization and correlated project teams to share the vision. Establishing consensus and evaluating the implementation of a vision process will be addressed within this document along with a step by step vision implementation process where a positive vision is created and fostered within this project oriented organization. The vision implementation process will consist of: a) eliciting a sense of urgency for implementing the vision; b) developing an expert vision implementation project team, c) developing interaction strategies where feedback is valued from the entire team, d) navigate challenges through scenario planning sessions, e) modify project strategies so changes are accepted and implemented quickly, and f) document and record project progress, obstacles and lessons learned. In conclusion, there will be a summary of what success within an authentic leadership organizational vision entails.
This will help one’s employees to build their confidence and the employer and the employese will be there to help each other, this is how trust is built between employers and their employees. Leadership is about being able to help others to build their own strength and also help that person to know that when push comes to shove, they can trust that one is there to help them in their time of need. In Leading and Leadership, Clark (2014) discusses about establishing and attaining goals as a leader and being able to gain trust from followers. Having a perspicuous vision and being able to recognize and communicate it is very important. A vigorous vision can generate and drive teams and organizations to move forward. As Clark (2014) says, “A vision necessitates people to reach for any obtainable change, grow and improve.”
Before stating my career goals, I would like to mention my motivation in choosing accounting as my career path, the origin of which is elaborated in essay three. As a rigorous and responsible girl with strong rule consciousness, I will commit to providing more accurate and timely accounting information, in order to optimize the business management and help the public understand the operating condition better, thus defending social justice and contributing to well-being.
From the first tutorial, ‘Current Conceptions of Accounting’, we had already change our prediction on accounting professional. At the beginning, we through that accounting professional would be more formal and format. From what we have learnt from the first two semesters of accounting, we need to do everything under the current structure, standards, and regulations. Accounting is a tool and skill that help us to achieve our career successful. However, the first tutorial activity, which require us to bring up our view of ‘accounting, accountability, or an accountant’ from a lifestyle magazine. Vision and goals go hand in hand to help create a successful organization. As a leader, you cannot create goals without having a vision, and cannot realize the vision without setting goals to get there. An effective leader will need to have both a vision for the future, as well as a clear cut set of goals that will help a company to grow and achieve that vision. A leader needs to be committed to and passionate about their vision, and driven to accomplish their goals in order for their vision to be successfully realized.
As a leader it is important to have a vision and a goal, but it is even more crucial to have followers who trust in your vision and goals. Trust is developed by displaying positive energy and attitude. Having a goal and a vision helps an organization move into the future. Without a goal or a vision an organization is going nowhere. Creating a mental picture of how the organization will look like in the future is the vision. When an organization has a vision, it is looking for change, growth, and improvement for the future.
