The Success of Frito-Lay

“Frito-Lay company products currently accounts for nearly 60% of the U.S. snack chip industry”(Frito-Lay). Ever since Funyun came around, it brought happiness to many consumers around the nation. Funyuns is the brand name of an onion-flavored corn snack. They are ring-shaped rings and the salt-onion mix gives them the flavor. Frito-Lay was first introduced in 1932 by Frito company founder, Mr. Dooley, who dreamt about having his own potato chip business. That same year Herman W. Lay began his own Lay’s company. A few years later Frito Company and the H.W. Lay company merged to become Frito- lay, Inc. The company itself is well respected company, they have many production and discribution plants all over America and Canada, also Frito- Lay is a green company and they started to introduce healthy products but the company downfall is their advertising and marketing strategies.
First of all , a lot of Frito-Lay’s success is a result of good marketing strategies and advertising through other companies. “Many advertisements are made with Frito-lay’s parent company, PepsiCo, such as the one published in 1968, “Potatoes make you thirsty, Pepsi satisfies that”(The New York, 2). Both of the companies help each other, and they created a largely successful partnership. Frito-Lay has established marketing strategies targeting all audiences through different ways. For instance, on January 1, 2011, the company started their biggest campaign ever. They announced that over 50 percent of Frito- Lay products will be made using all- natural ingredients. “At Frito-Lay North America we want to provide our customers with a broad portfolio of snack options that taste great and are made with real food ingredients.” ((The New York, 1) Through promoting ...

... Funyun made from products grown in the America but also the company itself provides good working conditions for their workers, and they care about the environment. Customers are the people who have a final say if they will or will not buy certain product.
