The Destruction of the Rainforest should be prohibited

The destruction of the Rain Forest should be prohibited. Planet Earth is accelerating at an

alarming rate; moving towards its own self-destruction. What we learned in high school taught

us the importance of converting carbon dioxide into oxygen. Without this conversion process,

life as we know it today could possibly cease to exist. The rainforest provides much needed

oxygen for the planet. Numerous rainforests exist around the globe. The largest rain forest is

in Brazil. This precious natural resource is being destroyed due to the poverty of a nation and the

lumber it provides. Unfortunately, this is a finite resource. Many natural resources are available

to mankind. Once this rainforest is depleted however, it may never return. This natural

resource is a living, breathing life force upon this planet. It needs sunshine and rain to exist. It

can flourish without the help of anyone. It can also be destroyed. It can be cut down without the

chance of survival. The seeds of renewal must be given an opportunity to replenish itself.

Without this, there is no hope for survival. The devastation of the rain forest is currently taking

place in economically challenged countries in the world. Once this rainforest is depleted

however, it may never return.

In order to understand the point of view of poor countries; we must examine the reasoning

of this needless destruction. Many poor countries lack the educational benefits of the richer

nations. The lack of education makes it more difficult to realize that permanent damages are the

result from destroying these trees. For these countries, it's simply a choice of eating ...

... middle of paper ...

... does not. Are

we going to deprive our children of this natural beauty?

History tells us that men must conquer his environment. We ravage our planet with nuclear

waste. We drill for oil and pollute our planet. We send men to the moon and leave our waste

behind. The oil spills in Prince William Sound and the cleanup that ensued is part of man's

legacy to dominate the world around him. The neglect of the planet has gone unchallenged up to

now. The world is so vast and becoming smaller with each passing day. Man is becoming aware

of global warming and its effects on the planet. We're finally beginning to realize the effects our

civilization has on the world in which we live. We must now take this into consideration when

we make choices. Our choice needs to be the correct one. The destruction of the rainforest must

be prevented.
