As rightly said by Hippocrates “The life so short, the craft so long to learn”. I believe that a good mix of talent and dependability are a crucial and potent mix for success. Honing my skills with a Masters’ degree after completing my Bachelors’ Degree In Physiotherapy, I believe would help me develop an array of cross functional skills. Gaining technical expertise in the subject of physiotherapy and then whetting my skills during my internship, taught me to be precise and scrupulous towards every task at hand. Having successfully pursued this field for nearly 5 years, I believe that, if given a chance, these skills endow me with the knowledge to gain an opportunity to pursue higher studies at your prestigious university.

Every great civilization or dynasty has always had one thing in common – great structures. These mammoth man made marvels have stood the test of time and have magnetised volumes of information that are vibrant all over the city skyline. Coming from the Indian subcontinent, we still live in an era where old structures prevail amongst 21st century structures. Blessed with a keen eye to analyze and observe, I’ve always wanted to pursue a career where problems could be overruled through the inclusion of concepts and real time solutions. I have been a consistent performer since school days scoring a high 89.92% in grade 10 and an 85.16% aggregate in grade 12. I have always had an affinity towards mathematics which drove me towards my real passion - engineering. Naturally when considering tertiary study options, Civil Engineering was my first choice as I could see myself working in a field that allowed me to use various maths and physics concepts to solve problems instantaneously. The poise and versatility with which a civil engineer works fascinates me; which in turn led me to pursue my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at B.M.S College of Engineering, Bangalore – one of the oldest most prestigious autonomous institutions under Visvesvaraya Technological University.
“Seriously kid!? You have the whole world at your feet, just pick something already!” he said with an aggravated look upon his face. Mr. Bluemer and I had formed quite the straightforward yet amiable relationship after serving him dinner almost every night in the dining room of the retirement home I worked at. “Mr. Bluemer, it is not that simple. I can’t just pick a job off the top of my head, there are too many things I like!” We had been having this argumentative conversation for a few nights now, ever since my college applications opened. “That’s just it Rebecca, you already know what you like, which means you already know what you should be in the future.” Mr. Bluemer had always been an insightful individual to discuss ideas with. Having gained an abundance of wisdom throughout his 86 years of life, I knew I could turn to him for guidance, but what I did not realize was that he would be the one person to inspire me the most.
I was raised by a mother who dropped out of college after her first semester and a grandmother who only had a third grade education. Both women taught me how important education was and to continue learning as much as I can. Despite raising seven children alone, my grandmother eventually earned her GED and took several college courses to show her children how important education was. My mother returned to college 20 years after dropping out and earned her a Master’s Degree in Human Services. The determination I saw in them is the reason I decided to continue my education and pursue graduate studies. After six years of work experience in the information technology industry, I have finally decided which field I would like to focus on. I’ve always had an interest in programming ever since taking a technology course in high school. I took what I learned in the course and applied it to the earlier social media sites, such as Blackplanet.com and Myspace.com. I realized that this was becoming a hobby as my friends would ask that I create the layouts for their personal pages using HTML.

I am applying to the Smith MBA program at this time because after 3 years of engineering experience, I have come to a crossroads in my career. Though I have relevant work experience, it has not prepared me adequately to deal with the extensive strategic questions faced by senior level managers. My professional motivation for seeking an MBA degree is to supplement my engineering experience and gain high intensity exposure to the strategic business functions which are important to running a successful business. I want to use the knowledge derived from my MS and MBA degrees to become a technically savvy manager who is very business-minded, strategically-driven and acutely in tune with the policy issues that surround the constantly evolving telecommunications industry.
Learning is a continuous process and the day that you stop learning is the day that you start decreasing your rewards and lower levels of satisfaction. My ardent desire to acquire knowledge has motivated me to pursue higher studies at graduate level, and to take up a career in research in industry. I have taken this decision after carefully considering my academic background, profound interest in research and strong aptitude for problem solving.
Always keep the fire of determination burning which in turn will inspire you to overcome all the obstacles.
knowledge in theoretical computer science and as a result, I was awarded the Golden Medal
While I was searching for a captivating career for life during my BDS, something that would grip my mind and keep me thirsting for more, I was captivated by the sphere of public health and similar issues which were not localized to any one nation but had global ramifications if not arrested on time. My search ended for I had found my calling. Today a desire to be a part of the leading force of public health professionals brings me to the Masters Degree course in Public Health at your University.
My motivation to obtain an MBA is two-fold: (1) to acquire the finance & managerial expertise to run a nonprofit enterprise, and (2) to prepare myself for an eventual return to India, where I will start a non-profit organization to help entrepreneurs develop and implement their ideas in education sector. Eventually, I hope to make a meaningful contribution to the Indian education sector by creating jobs and building a spirit of community.
My passion in MBA came at my early age when I used to provide for my family during the civil war in Afghanistan. I was the only son to bring food at home, where in a male dominated country it wasn 't possible for my mom to work. My father had already passed a way and It wasn 't easy for me as a child to work though. Hundreds of rockets were a good day for Kabul. I had to go on streets to sell the remaining furniture of our house. My dreams of Afghanistan full of flourishing businesses were destroying everyday. I realised that I was very good at convincing my customers, so a thought flashed in my mind to pursue business as my career. I want to apply for an MBA for a number of reasons; first I am passionate about it, second my experiences makes
