Statement of Purpose

Ever since I was a child, my most remarkable characteristics have been my curiosity to learn new topics and appease my inquisitiveness. My keen interest for learning new ideas, combined with my inner desire to reach pinnacles of excellence enabled me to acquire good knowledge on various aspects. From early childhood of my school life, I have had a tremendous interest in Mathematics and Physics. Learning various phenomena like refraction, total internal reflection; communication techniques employed in television and radio transmission further increased my orientation towards subjects that help in acquiring practical knowledge. I stood among the top 5% in the national level GITAM Admission Test (GAT) which helped me in getting an admit in the course that I have always wanted to take: “Electronics and Communication Engineering” in the prestigious GITAM University, Visakhapatnam. Subjects in the curriculum like Very Large Scale Integrated Circuits, Digital Communications, Wireless Communications and Microwave Engineering greatly attracted me.

Having been a diligent student all through, I completed my schooling in St. Joseph’s English Medium High School with an excellent result. My analytical skills were recognized at an early stage by my teachers and under their prudent mentoring, my skillset bloomed. It was the combination of my relentless hard work and my teachers’ continuous mentoring and my parent’s continuous support that helped me in securing a 88.16% in my 10th final exam with 99% in mathematics. Having secured such exceptional marks I realized that I was a mathematics guy with a penchant for mathematics coupled with the ability to succeed in it. Selecting a University from a bounty of options seemed to me -a Herculean task. I narrowed down my selection to a few parameters like geography of college, the research activities undertaken, the department, and the faculty and the vision of the University. While in search for a place to gain erudition, I found your institution, SUNY Buffalo. I strongly believe that this university with its advanced academic curriculum, facilities and world-class research assets will not only provide me technical knowledge in the area of interest, but will also be a launch pad for a career in technology and research. I am certain that the experience I would gain at your university and the exposure to a diverse student body and faculty would form the best environment for me to accomplish my goals.
