Sports: LeBron James

LeBron James happens to be my favorite player and argumentatively the best player in the league. He has accomplished a lot, some would consider he had a path to greatness. As a young man he was considered a protégé. Some of the greats have had a start like his and ended up being in the hall of fame, and some have not lived up to expectation. James grew up in Akron, Ohio where he was born in December 30, 1984. He played high school basketball at St. Vincent–St. Mary High School, where he was highly promoted in the national media as a future NBA superstar. Life was often a struggle for LeBron, who moved from apartment to apartment in the less contributed neighborhoods of Akron. His mother Gloria, struggled to find steady work. Realizing his talents and love for basketball, she figured he would be better off with a more stable family environment. Gloria allowed LeBron to move in with the family of Frank Walker, a local youth football coach, who introduced LeBron to basketball when LeBron was nine years old. In his freshman year, James averaged 21 points and 6 rebounds per game for St. Vincent-St. Mary's varsity team. That’s right a freshman averaging those numbers for a varsity team. The Fighting Irish finished the year 27–0, winning the Division III state title. In his sophomore year, James averaged 25.2 points and 7.2 rebounds per game, while also adding 5.8 assists and 3.8 steals per game. St. Vincent-St. Mary played at the University of Akron, sat a capacity of 5,492 in the Rhodes Arena. Among the audience was alumni, local fans, and college and NBA scouts who wanted to see James play. The Fighting Irish finished the season 26–1 and repeated as state champions. For his outstanding play, James was selected t... ... middle of paper ... ...e championships. The chance to play with Wade and Bosh seemed to appeal to James on that level.” (Windhorst, 2012) He fell second in his next year 2010-2011 to Bulls player Derrick Rose. Still going on to win a championship ring that year, as well as the following year. With his back to back championship with the Miami Heat, they are in top prospect to win it again this year. LeBron stands in the front seat of all-time greats. Few would argue that he has now earned his way into the Top 10. It makes him hard to rank because he is such a unique freak athlete. He is capable of playing any position on the court at an All-Star level, both on offense and defense. No one else in history can claim this distinction. Not even MJ himself could hold some of the big boys, This is why he had a bigger Scottie Pippen.
