What is social influence? Well according to Google it’, “ Social influence occurs when a person's emotions, opinions, or behaviors are affected by others. “ Whether it be intentional or unintentional all people are influenced by society. Social influence unintentional or not is used all the time. The truth is, if one were to ask a person to go into depth about social influence, the person would not really know how to answer. There are many different factors of social influence that affect people in multiple different aspects. Group polarization is a key component to social influence. It makes people feel as though they have a group they can be recognized with. “ And it should come as no surprise that the attitudes and beliefs we bring to a group grow stronger when we talk with others who share them. . . and it often translates into a nasty ‘us’ vs ‘ them’ dynamic’’ ( Yale …show more content…

In the Crash Course video entitled, “ Crash Course: Psychology ‘ Episode 38 : Social Influence’ ” written by Kathleen Yale, it states, “Conformity describes how we adjust our behavior thinking to follow the behavior or rules of the group we belong to” (Yale). This happens a lot, especially when a person favors something different from the rest of the group. The person usually pretends to like whatever else the people around him likes.
