I, Elizabeth Proctor cannot decide whether I am or am not happy that my husband, John Proctor, refused to confess for a crime that he did not commit. If he had confessed, he would have damned himself to hell and he would live, but his denial would lead to an early, undeserved death. You, may be wondering why I am telling you all this. The reason that I do tell you of horrific events is so that you know exactly what tragedy the Salem Witch Trials caused. To make sure that you follow me, I will start by giving you a little background information from the morning of John’s execution. John was close to giving a solid confession, but since he stood up to Judge Danforth and Judge Hathorne, he was hanged. John’s refusal to confess for being with the devil lead to the discontinuation of the witchcraft hangings. Fellow townspeople, such as Marshal Herrick and Martha Corey, began rebelling against the judges. Also, after John’s hanging, the judges began to think sensible, with little to no help Reverend Parris. Only one more person was hanged after my husband; that person was Reverend Hale. The reason behind this was, because he defended the remainder of the innocent and jailed townspeople. Months passing Hale’s hanging, Judges Danforth and Hathorne were being put on trial for the murders of multiple in Salem for conversing with devil. I, myself was there to witness the court session. The Judge was a grumpy older man, probably around the age of 50, balding with dark, narrow, and beady eyes, that you could feel boring into your soul. I swear, all of Salem, that was still alive, was in the courtroom the day of the Judges trial. Slowly as the clock ticked away, I bet that every soul in that room was hoping that they would get convicted, for th... ... middle of paper ... ...s was also part of the reason that she killed herself. Thomas, of course, blamed himself for her passing, and he began to fall apart, emotionally speaking. The remainder of the townspeople showed no compassion for Thomas, however. He, now, had all this land no wife and no kid. He was just beginning to realize that he was a majority of the reason the Ann killed herself. He then followed her example and all the land went back to the families that Putnam bought them from. As for the rest of the townspeople life went back to normal.. Well, as much as it can after having something a horrific as that happen. There is really nothing left to tell you, except for I am remarried now. I finally had a daughter. She looks identical to John. I just wished he could have lived to see her. I love and miss him terribly. I hope he is continues to look down upon us, and keeps us safe.
