There are many issues that have arrived in our culture that may conflict with a traditional viewpoint. Day by day, I see people parting from conservative life styles to those that are flamboyant and boisterous. I can’t pin point just one group or sector of people, beliefs, or ideologies that is morally altering the future generations; but I will expound on sexual orientation and how it affect us, socially, emotionally, and politically. There is a vast array of ideas being dispensed that affects multiple areas of our lives as a nationwide community. However, ones choice of lifestyle poses the real challenge. Would it be the one where you live as a morally upright citizen in an ever corrupting world, or is it the one where you allow your moral mandates to be dictated by various mediums of media, entertainment and pop culture ideologies. The homosexual lifestyle has been around for centuries, however, initially it was a private affair and those individuals involved felt they would be ridiculed or assaulted for such crimes, which were considered crimes against the natural orientation of mankind. Around 1970, during the upstart of the feminist movement, and the latter part of the sexual revolution, young ladies began to question their sexual orientation. They “were unaware of or unable to understand their sexual attractions to other women.” These ladies worked closely together and had a natural attraction to each other. This attraction could not be interpreted as a close knitted relationship, but it was interpreted as a sensual one. As human beings we desire intimate relationships with each other like those of a sister to a friend and a mother to a daughter; but when do we know when the relationship has become... ... middle of paper ... ...e shame to be gay or lesbian sitting in an office governing over people. Those in seats of position “must understand the conflicts surrounding the use of power” because they have the ability to influence the lives of millions of people. I believe a government official should practice abstinence and Christians too. I believe the further America gets from moral uprightness the worse off our economy gets, but no one has made that connection yet. When will a president finally say abortion is illegal? It just might put some of those women on birth control. My argument isn’t over the government and it’s not over politics but, “What is the World Coming too?” People should sit back and rationalize in their minds the correlation between God and the United States, and return to its foundational principals, after all, it was a man of God who wrote the constitution.
It is often found that the stereotypical “butch” and “femme” pairing are more visible than other lesbian relationships. However, this does not mean that they do not exist. The ever-growing popularity of the lesbian social sphere has symbolized both difficulties and effects of identifying with such a label. The label or identity itself, though distinctly separating lesbians from “normal” heterosexuals begins to exhibit pre-existing conflict experienced by gay males: “there’s always been something wrong (Aldrich, 38).” This quote implies the conditioned and ingrained belief that homosexuality’s “taboo” existence was more than just wrong, but distasteful and something that society should look down upon for being an “abnormality.” Sometimes, this social reality for lesbians made it hard for them to “come out the closet” and be visible. This experience is exemplified as “The repressed lesbian has a harder time of it, for she is less aware of her abnormality (Aldrich, 41).” Additionally, to be able to clearly and accurately identify “the lesbian is to meet the many women she is at close range; to see her against her various backgrounds, hear her sundry voices, and familiarize yourself with the diverse facades of her several lives (Aldrich, 42).” Here, the presence of the “double life” is demonstrated to further analyze the lack of privileges that the lesbian community had, including the social aspect of their

Those were the words said by Dennis Shepard at the sentencing of Aaron McKinney, one of the men who tortured, robbed, and murdered his son Matthew Shepard. He was given a life sentence. States must inflict a harsher punishment for people who commit gay violence crimes because over the years hate crimes based on sexual orientation have become the third highest category reported.
This country was founded upon the Judo-Christian Faith and the our four fathers who created our government were true believers. In establishing this great nation, they understood the inherent rights that God, their Creator, gave to all men. Within these rights given to all citizens, there is a statement that reads, ”that all men were created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights.” (The Declaration of Independence: Full Text) They are endowed by their creator is referring to a divine power such as God. This nation was built upon faith and it often helped out in hard times such as, the attack on pearl harbor, as well as 9/11. This Biblical verse reflects the Christian beliefs of our founders that men should try to live their lives as God desires. Leviticus 18: 22 says that you should not lie with another man as a women; it is an abomination (Holy Bible). If the United States was truly obedient to God as it should be then there would not be any laws passed allowing gay marriage or abortion. These go against the Bible, the word of God, but the Government has deemed them acceptable. This issue shows how obedience to authority can cripple a nation. The Government is allowing an issue they should never have considered to become recognized as acceptable. If this path continues, society will continue to crumble and decay.

As a nation we need to take a page from the Rogerian style of argument and be less judgmental of, and be willing to except another’s point of view as valid, even if one we do not agree with it. The fore fathers of the Unites States wrote the Bill of Rights with our country’s future in mind. The first amendment in the Unites States’ Bill of Rights is our freedom of religion, speech, press, and to peaceably assemble. By including freedom of speech and religion in the Bill of Rights one can assume that our fore fathers felt that all opinions were valid because they gave us the freedom to express and practice them openly. Therefore our current government officials should follow the path that our fore fathers has laid for us and listen to one another with empathy, without judgment and communicate effectively in order to run our country successfully. The day when our government officials realize that compromise is an effective tool we will all win.

As Tamsin Wilton explains in her piece, “Which One’s the Man? The Heterosexualisation of Lesbian Sex,” society has fronted that heterosexuality, or desire for the opposite sex, is the norm. However, the reason behind why this is the case is left out. Rather, Wilton claims that “heterosexual desire is [an] eroticised power difference [because] heterosexual desire originates in the power relationship between men and women” (161). This social struggle for power forces the majority of individuals into male-female based relationships because most women are unable to overcome the oppressive cycle society has led them into. Whereas heterosexual relationships are made up of the male (the oppressor) and the female (the victim who is unable to fight against the oppressor), homosexual relationships involve two or more individuals that have been freed from their oppressor-oppressed roles.

Homosexuality in Today's Society. In today's society, there exists a mixture of issues which tend to raise arguments with people all over. There are a handful of topics that always seem to escalate these differences between people to the point where one who earnestly participates in discussion, debate and argument can direct their anger towards their feelings on the person themselves. Some examples of such delicate subjects are the death penalty, abortion, and euthanasia.
In today’s day in age, different sexualities and gender identities are quickly becoming more accepted in mainstream society. Despite this change, there are many people who believe that having a different sexual orientation or gender identity is a choice that is frowned upon. In order to refute this belief, research and biology of the brain is necessary. Researching the brain on the basis of sexuality is a fairly new topic of discussion because it is somewhat difficult and confusing. This paper will explore the different identities of gender, sex and sexual orientation and the main biological reasons behind these. There is also some validity of different sexual orientations and identities through the evidence of sexual disorders like Klinefelter’s and Turner’s Syndrome and gender dysphoria.
They involve new issues that we never had in the past. In the past we dealt with things such as civil rights for African Americans, today we struggle with rights for gay, lesbian and transgender people. While some people believe that choice of sexual orientation is moral based on their personal choices. Kenny Miller from Wolfe’s Moral Freedom is the perfect example of this. Although he doesn’t believe in his friend’s fascination with sadomasochism he believes that is makes sense for his friend (Wolfe, 2001). The women described in this book (Mary Masters and Julia Fenton) would find that these types of actions are immoral based on their religious beliefs. Although this is not necessarily a gay rights issue, but an issue regarding sexual freedom, it can still relate to issues we face today. Recently, gay marriage was made legal in all fifty states. While much of the United States rejoiced in a major civil rights movement, others feared that it threatened traditional families and standards that were previously upheld. This is a positive step forward in terms of the amount of moral freedom that we have. We need to be able to have freedom in order to have moral freedom. It could be seen that when given more freedom on the issue, some may choose to take this path and continue in homosexual marriages, and those who do not believe in in neither have to participate and do not have to agree with it
